Abstract

A quality organizational culture and high work motivation of villa employees can cause an increase in villa room occupancy rates. The Claremont Luxury Villas has, however, a room occupancy rate that tends to fall due to poor organizational culture and low work motivation of the employees. This research aims at analyzing the room occupancy value of The Claremont Luxury Villas. This research seeks to identify the causes of the decline in room occupancy rates and the catalyst for the room occupancy rates at The Claremont Luxury Villas. This research was completed using qualitative methods. The primary data source for this research was obtained through field studies at The Claremont Luxury Villas. Secondary research data sources come from related literature. Observations were applied to collect primary data and document studies to obtain secondary data. The collected data were qualitatively analyzed with the help of knowledge power relations theory and practice theory. The results of the research are: 1) Organizational culture and employee work motivation can be concluded as a catalyst for the occupancy value of The Claremont Luxury Villa rooms; 2) The continuously deteriorating performance of organizational culture and increasingly low levels of employee motivation at work have resulted in a decline in the room occupancy rate at The Claremont Luxury Villa.

Abstract

 Abstract This study aimed at examining the caused factors of existing shoushika phenomenon in Japan society. The theory was used in this study were social change of sociology theory by Piotr Sztompka and rational choice by James Coleman. The data source in this study was from interview result as well as Indonesian, Japan, and English literatures. The data analysis in this study was descriptive qualitative technique. Based on the result was showed that the cause of existing shoushika phenomenon in Japan society due to the emergence of feminism movement by Japanese women, modernization, and changes in family structure from traditional (ie) to modern (kaku kazoku). Modernization and feminism caused the youth generation of Japan especially female decided to choose carrier rather than marriage. In addition, by the change from an agrarian society to a modern brought out the family structure also changed and the presence of children in Japanese family was only seen as a financial burden. Keywords: Japan Culture, Shoushika, Japanese Society   Abstrak Artikel ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji faktor-faktor penyebab munculnya fenomena shoushika dalam masyarakat Jepang. Teori yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah teori sosiologi perubahan sosial Piotr Sztompka dan teori pilihan rasional James Coleman. Data-data yang digunakan dalam penulisan artikel diperoleh dari hasil wawancara serta buku-buku berbahasa Indonesia, Jepang dan Inggris. Analisis data yang dilakukan dalam penelitian ini yaitu dengan teknik penelitian kualitatif deskriptif. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ditemukan bahwa penyebab lahirnya fenomena shoushika dalam masyarakat Jepang adalah muculnya gerakan feminisme oleh para wanita Jepang, modernisasi dan perubahan struktur keluarga dari tradisional (ie) menjadi modern (kaku kazoku). Modernisasi dan feminisme menyebabkan generasi muda Jepang khususnya perempuan memutuskan lebih memilih berkarir daripada menikah. Selain itu, dengan perubahan masyarakat agraris menjadi modern menyebabkan sturktur keluarga ikut berubah dan keberadaan anak dalam keluarga Jepang hanya dipandang sebagai beban finansial.
