Abstract

Parents are the main educational figures for children. The presence of parents is fundamental to the development of a child's personality, but this alone is not enough. What is important for the development of a child's personality is the nature of the relationship between parents and children, as well as the emotional bond between them. This study was conducted to investigate differences in children's personalities between families with parents who work full-time and those who stay at home. The study targeted adolescents aged 17 to 25 years using a quantitative survey method through the distribution of an online questionnaire via Google Forms. Respondents were selected using purposive sampling. The data obtained were then analyzed to produce numerical values or variables. The results of this study indicate that children with stay-at-home parents tend to have high self-confidence. This is supported by findings showing that 25 respondents stated that parental roles significantly influence the development of a child's behavior. These findings suggest that children's personalities are highly dependent on the parenting styles adopted by their parents.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the impact of K-Pop celebrity worship on the psychological well-being of female adolescents in the Engene Medan Community. This quantitative research involved 60 respondents who are members of the community. Data were collected using a questionnaire and analyzed with SPSS 30 through validity and reliability tests, simple linear regression, t-test, F-test, and coefficient of determination (R²). The findings indicate that celebrity worship has a positive and significant effect on psychological well-being. The t-test produced a t-value (4.114) greater than the t-table (2.001) with a significance level of 0.001 < 0.05, while the F-test showed an F-value (16.921) exceeding the F-table (4.01) with the same significance level. The coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.226 shows that celebrity worship accounts for 22.6% of the variance in psychological well-being, while the remaining 77.4% is influenced by other factors not addressed in this study. This research concludes that involvement in celebrity worship activities, particularly at the entertainment-social level, can enhance positive feelings about oneself and improve overall psychological well-being. These findings reinforce the understanding that idolizing celebrities, as long as it remains within reasonable limits, can have a constructive impact on female adolescents.

Abstract

Sexual violence against children is a highly complex issue with profound negative impacts on both the victims and their social environment. Children with disabilities, particularly those with Down Syndrome, are among the most vulnerable to such abuse due to their physical and cognitive limitations. Given this context, the role of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) such as the Child Protection Agency (LPA) becomes crucial. LPA plays a vital role in providing support, advocacy, and assistance to child victims of sexual violence, especially those with disabilities. This study aims to examine the protective role of LPA in assisting children with Down Syndrome who have become victims of sexual violence in Deli Serdang Regency. Using a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach, the research explores and interprets the lived experiences of informants involved in the cases. The study also highlights the implementation of the four child protection principles as applied by the LPA. The findings show that LPA fulfills its protective role by providing legal assistance, psychosocial support, and ensuring the safety of the victims. The organization successfully implemented the four child protection principles, resulting in a 12-year prison sentence for the perpetrator and justice for the victim. The study recommends increasing LPA staff capacity to enhance the quality of services provided.

Abstract

This study investigates how children’s personal aspirations are often overshadowed or replaced by their parents’ expectations, resulting in life paths that reflect family ambitions rather than individual desires. Focusing on university students, it explores the psychological tension and identity conflict caused by internalizing parental hopes as life goals. Using a qualitative approach through in-depth interviews and thematic analysis, the study captures diverse socio-economic experiences. Three main themes emerge: (1) emotional obligation to fulfill parental dreams, (2) identity confusion stemming from restricted personal agency, and (3) delayed self-actualization. While some students feel motivated by parental trust, others experience anxiety, emotional exhaustion, and suppressed personal aspirations. These findings form the conceptual framework of “borrowed dreams,” illustrating how intergenerational expectations shape identity and motivation. The study emphasizes the importance of improved family communication and culturally sensitive strategies to balance parental influence with youth autonomy. Recognizing young people’s right to define their own futures is vital for healthy identity development and well-being.

Abstract

Social services are an important element in realizing community welfare, especially for vulnerable groups. However, bureaucratic challenges, limited data, and inequality in access to services are still major obstacles in social service management. This study aims to explore the role of information technology (IT) in optimizing social service management through a literature study approach. The results of the literature review show that IT integration can improve accessibility, administrative efficiency, data accuracy, and transparency of social services. The implementation of systems such as Integrated Social Welfare Data (DTKS) and SIKS-NG shows a real contribution in accelerating real-time data collection and processing. In addition, the use of online applications and digital media expands the reach of services to remote areas and increases community participation. However, challenges such as limited infrastructure, human resources, and organizational culture are still obstacles. Therefore, adaptive policy support, human resource training, and equal distribution of digital infrastructure are needed to ensure the sustainability of digital transformation in social services. This study concludes that information technology is a strategic solution in building an inclusive, responsive, and quality social service system in the digital era.
