Abstract

Surabaya memiliki potensi sumber daya alam yang cukup besar, khususnya di daerah pesisir. Perhatian terhadap potensi sosial masyarakat yang mengelola sumber daya alam tersebut secara berkelanjutan juga diperlukan. Nelayan yang seharusnya dapat mengelola dan memanfaatkan sumber daya alam justru masih terpuruk dalam kemiskinan. Wanita nelayan berperan penting dalam kegiatan ekonomi rumah tangga nelayan. Oleh karena itu penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui pola hubungan partisipasi wanita dalam ekonomi rumah tangga nelayan berdasarkan faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi, khususnya di Kecamatan Bulak, Mulyorejo dan Kenjeran Surabaya. Penelitian menggunakan regresi logistik biner, dengan variabel respon adalah partisipasi wanita yang terbagi menjadi istri bekerja dan tidak bekerja. Hasil analisis diperoleh variabel prediktor yang signifikan mempengaruhi partisipasi wanita dalam kegiatan ekonomi rumah tangga nelayan adalah usia suami, jumlah anggota keluarga, kondisi rumah, usia istri menikah, pendapatan suami, dan pengeluaran konsumsi.

Abstract

Tembakau (Nicotiana tabacum L.) merupakan salah satu penghasil devisa yang cukup tinggi dalam negara karena bea cukainya. Disamping itu, tembakau memberikan kontribusi yang cukup besar dalam  sumber pendapatan petani dan penyediaan lapangan pekerja. Tanaman tembakau sangat rentan di pengaruhi oleh klimatologi dan geografi wilayah. Budidaya tembakau maupun industrinya merupakan komoditi yang sangat berpengaruh dalam perekonomian tidak hanya bagi Jawa Timur namun juga mencakup kegiatan perekonomian secara global.  Tembakau mempunyai beberapa varietas meliputi tembakau Voor-Ogst yang di gunakan untuk bahan membuat rokok putih maupun rokok kretek dan tembakau Na-Oogst yaitu jenis tembakau yang di pakai untuk bahan dasar membuat cerutu maupun cigarillo, disamping tembakau hisap atau kunyah (chewing tobaco). Tembakau jenis Voor-Oogst merupakan tembakau dengan periode tanam pada akhir musim penghujan dan periode petikan pada musim kemarau. Sementara tembakau Na-Oogst adalah tembakau dengan periodesasi tanam pada akhir musim kemarau dan periode petik pada awal musim penghujan. Produktivitas tanaman tembakau kasturi dan tembakau Besuki Na-Oogst di Kabupaten Jember mengalami penurunan yang sebabkan oleh cuaca yang tidak menentu, tingginya curah hujan, abu vulkanik Gunung Raung dan minimnya penyediaan sarana produksi. Tanaman tembakau termasuk tanaman yang sensitif terhadap faktor lingkungan diantaranya yaitu faktor iklim, seperti curah hujan, kelembapan, dan temperatur. Kondisi iklim pada curah hujan, baik jumlah dan penyebarannya yang sangat beragam sehingga berpengaruh terhadap pertumbuhan, produksi dan mutu tembakau. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi karakteristik, menganalisis hingga menetukan pemodelan pengaruh faktor iklim terhadap produktivitas tembakau di Kabupaten Jember. Data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini merupakan data sekunder yang diperoleh dari database Badan Pusata Statistik Kabupaten Jember. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah analisis regresi linier berganda dengan faktor iklim, seperti curah hujan, jumlah hari hujan, suhu udara, kelembapan menjadi variabel independent dan produktsi tembakau Kabupaten Jember menjadi variabel dependen. Model matematis yang terbentuk dari analisis regresi diperoleh hasil sebagai berikut : Y = 2456782,324 + 0,890 X1 + 0,120 X2 -16.272,407 X3 - 49617,901 X4 + 32,779 X5 dengan besar koefisien determinasi 96,7%. Secara parsial faktor yang berpengaruh terhadap produksi tembakau adalah curah hujan, kelembapan, dan luas lahan. Keywords— Tembakau; produktivitas; regresi; Jember

Abstract

Beberapa bahan organik diketahui mengandung unsur hara dan zat pengatur tumbuh alami (ZPT), seperti air kelapa, jagung muda, taoge, bonggol pisang, rebung. Bahan-bahan ini juga menjadi substrat untuk perbanyakan mikroorganisme lokal yang baik untuk tanah. Oleh karena itu, tujuan kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat di Kelompok Tani Teladan Sumberjambe Jember adalah untuk mengenalkan, meningkatkan keterampilan dan menerapkan teknologi fermentasi mikroorganisme lokal (bioaktivator) dengan menggunakan bahan organik yang mengandung zat pengatur tumbuh alami. Kegiatan ini menggunakan metode dan praktek langsung pembuatan ZPT alami. Hasil yang dicapai berdasarkan indikator pelaksanaan diklat ini diantaranya adalah respon kehadiran peserta diklat yang diikuti oleh 30 orang atau 100% diundang untuk mengikuti acara diklat. Selain itu, selama kegiatan ekstraksi dan fermentasi bahan organik terlihat peserta mengetahui urutan tata cara pembuatan ZPT Alam dari hasil diskusi dan tanya jawab. Selain itu, penilaian kuantitatif keberhasilan kegiatan pembekalan dilakukan melalui pre-test dan post-test. Hasil yang diperoleh pada tes awal rata-rata pemahaman tentang ZPT alam adalah 25, sedangkan nilai rata-rata post test setelah pelaksanaan adalah 75. Berdasarkan hasil pre-test dan post-test, terdapat peningkatan yang signifikan pada pengetahuan peserta tentang pengatur tumbuh organik. Hasil tersebut juga dapat menunjukkan bahwa kegiatan ini mampu menambah pengetahuan peserta. Pada praktiknya sekitar 80% peserta telah mampu mengekstrak dan mencampurkan bahan untuk proses fermentasi. Indikator keberhasilannya terlihat dari bahan ZPT alami yang terfermentasi baik yang bercirikan warna coklat dan bau asam menyerupai tapai.

Abstract

COVID-19 causes an increase in morbidity and mortality until 2021. One of the important components in dealing with the threat of the Covid-19 pandemic is care for the elderly group. Jember Regency as one of the districts that experienced an increase in the percentage of the elderly from 2018 to 2020 requires special attention regarding the prevention of COVID-19 transmission in the elderly. Based on the survey results to service partners, several problems that need to be resolved are the lack of knowledge about increasing immunity, especially among the elderly, partners still do not have awareness about the dangers of the COVID-19 virus, partners have not implemented health protocols such as social distancing, washing hands regularly, wearing masks when leaving the house, and spraying disinfectants regularly. The solution provided by the proposing team is the service team providing education about the importance of healthy living and to increase awareness while adhering to health protocols during the pandemic. This activity was attended enthusiastically by the participants. this can be measured by 100% of the invitees attending the event. The education and socialization running smoothly. Communities are equipped with the knowledge and skills to make hand sanitizer independently. After this activity, the community is motivated to maintain health and comply with health protocols.

Abstract

Benih unggul menjadi salah satu faktor penting dalam produksi padi karena penggunaan benih unggul bermutu benih yang digunakan dalam usahatani, maka akan semakin tinggi pula tingkat produksi yang akan diperoleh. Salah satu produsen benih unggul di Jember adalah TeFa Seed Center Politeknik Negeri Jember yang telah berdiri sejak tahun 2019. Varietas benih padi yang diproduksi Tefa Seed Center antara lain: Sunggal, Inpari 32 HBD, IR 64, Way Opo Buru, Ciherang, Cibogo, Inpari 33, Memberamo, Mekongga, Situbagendit, Inpari 33, Cakrabuana, dan Mantap. Berbagai macam varietas yang diproduksi ini menyesuaikan permintaan distributor maupun petani langsung yang sesuai dengan lokasi lahan pertaniannya. tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengidentifikasi berbagai faktor secara sistematis berdasarkan kekuatan, peluang, kelemahan, dan ancaman sehingga dapat merumuskan strategi serta kebijakan yang tepat pada Tefa Seed Center. Berdasarkan hasil analisis perusahaan menghadapi peluang yang sangat besar, namun disisi lain Seed Center menghadapi beberapa kendala/kelemahan internal. Rekomendasi yang dapat diberikan adalah sebagai berikut: meningkatkan ketersediaan produk setiap bulan; membangun mitra kolaboratif dengan pemerintah, asosiasi pedagang benih, dan toko pertanian membuat kebun percobaan untuk meyakinkan mitra; menyediakan tenaga pemasaran dan produksi benih yang terlatih; peningkatan manajemen distribusi produk; menambah pekerja untuk costumer service; membangun budaya organisasi yang sehat dan kompetitif.

Abstract

Superior rice seeds can increase production by at least 10%/ha, but this program must be supported by the availability of seeds, and easy access to seeds at affordable prices for farmers. One of the superior seed producers in Jember is the Seed Center Teaching Factory of Politeknik Negeri Jember. Seed Center products are distributed to areas around Jember, Bondowoso, Situbondo, Probolinggo, and several areas outside Java. Sustainable products are affected by product quality and maintaining customer satisfaction. This research aims to analyze consumer perceptions, measure customer satisfaction, and determine recommendations for product improvements and marketing strategies that appropriate consumer needs. Data were collected through interviews and questionnaires while using SWOT analysis.  The sample in this study included agricultural shops as regular consumers and farmers as direct users. The results show that all seed products are in great demand by consumers and farmers, namely Inpari 32, Logawa, Ceherang, and Sintanur. The biggest weakness is limited buyer partners, products not always available, and outlets far from the market. Besides that, the biggest opportunity is an abundant market and basic needs products supported by the government. The strength is that the products are complete business legality and certified seeds, affordable prices, solid team, and sufficient business capital.

Abstract

The growth of cocoa seedlings (Theobroma cacao L.) is influenced by the use of the type of planting medium and the presence of supporting microorganisms, such as the Trichoderma sp. This research aims to determine the effect of giving Trichoderma sp. and manure on the growth of cocoa seedlings. The research used a factorial randomized block design (RBD) method consisting of 9 treatments which were repeated 3 times, so there were 27 experimental units. Factor 1 is chicken manure by 200, 300 and 400 g/polybag, factor 2 is Trichoderma sp. with different level of mixing. The parameters observed were plant height, number of leaves, stem diameter, wet weight of the crown, wet weight of the roots, dry weight of the crown, dry weight of the roots. The research results showed that M3 (400 g/polybag) gave the best results for the parameters of stem diameter, crown wet weight, root wet weight and root dry weight of cocoa plants. Giving Trichoderma sp. at a level of 10 mL L-1 gave the best results for stem diameter, root wet weight and root dry weight. The research results provide a positive contribution to the application of a combination of chicken manure (M1:200 g/polybag) with Trichoderma sp. (P2: 10 mL L-1) on stem diameter and root wet weight.

Abstract

The Teaching Factory Nursery at Politeknik Negeri Jember has palm oil plantation which is used for student practice. Oil palm plants have entered the TM (Producing Plant) phase, but the palm fruit produced has never been used. Palm fruit that is not harvested and is ripe, if it falls to the ground, will germinate and grow into a new plant, this will make handling more difficult because you have to uproot the plant to clean it. Another problem is that there are no tools that support the processing of palm fruit into Cruda Plam Oil (CPO). Seeing the huge potential of this palm fruit, the proposing team together with the management of the Teaching Factory Nursery agreed to take advantage of the opportunity through community service activities to produce CPO which will later become red palm oil ready for consumption using simple processing equipment. The service activity begins with a FGD to agree on product manufacture, location and equipment maintenance, as well as product marketing. The proposing team also provides assistance in product creation, storage, packaging, and product marketing for program sustainability.  The results of the activity show an increase in partners' knowledge and skills regarding post-harvest management of palm oil. The partners' enthusiasm in demonstrating the stages of processing palm oil into CPO is also able to solve problems and solutions and increase income from product sales.

Abstract

The processing of organic waste into valuable and environmentally friendly products is a sustainable solution for small-scale businesses, such as Arang Sejahtera in Jember. This business produces charcoal from wood and agricultural waste; however, the combustion process generates smoke that is not utilized and may contribute to environmental pollution. This community service program aims to implement pyrolysis technology to produce biochar and liquid smoke as by-products. Pyrolysis technology not only enhances the efficiency of charcoal production but also reduces environmental impacts by converting the smoke generated into valuable products. Biochar can be used as an alternative fuel, soil amendment, and carbon sequestration agent, while liquid smoke has potential as a raw material for the chemical industry or liquid fertilizer. Through training and mentoring for Mitra Arang Sejahtera, it is expected that this initiative will improve productivity and result in more sustainable products, reduce air pollution, and provide greater economic benefits. This program also has the potential to be adopted by other SMEs in Jember and surrounding areas as a model for environmentally friendly biomass waste management.

Abstract

Sugar factories during the process of milling sugar cane stalks usually produce solid waste in the form of filter cake or filter cake or filter press mud which amounts to around 3.8% of the weight of the sugar cane. The accumulation of large quantities of filter cake is a source of serious environmental pollution for sugar factories and surrounding communities, whereas during the rainy season, piles of wet filter cake emit a foul smell and pollute the environment. On the other hand, filter cake can be used as organic fertilizer. Long-term application of filter cake fertilizer can increase the physical, biological and chemical fertility of degraded land. Application of filter cake organic fertilizer in sugar cane fields at PG Pradjekan PT. Nusantara Sugar Synergy provides benefits, including: minimizing sources of environmental pollution produced by PG. Pradjekan in the form of filter cake waste, utilizing filter cake waste produced from the process of milling sugar cane stalks into organic filter cake fertilizer, accelerating the decomposition process of filter cake by spraying the decomposer to become organic filter cake fertilizer, creating organic filter cake fertilizer from filter cake waste which can be applied to sugar cane land which is useful for increasing Soil organic carbon levels in sugar cane fields and PG Pradjekan PT. Synergy Gula Nusantara is able to produce and apply organic filter cake fertilizer to its sugar cane fields which is carried out when the sugar cane stalks are 2 months to 4 months old.
