Abstract

Sun light is one form of energy from natural resources. These solar natural resources have been widely used to supply electrical power in communication satellites through solar cells. This solar cell can produce unlimited amounts of electrical energy directly taken from the sun. The solar panel itself has the maximum body temperature which influences the output of the solar panel. Solar cell panels have a decreased ability to generate electricity if it overheats or goes through the limits of effectiveness. Therefore, a cooling tower system is developed using the Fuzzy Logic method through this study with the aim of maximizing the efficiency of solar cell panels in generating electricity and analyzing Solar Panel systems( Photovoltaic). The data analyzed are: 1) The method of cooling solar panels using the cooling tower system with fuzzy logic methods, 2) Efficiency of Solar Cell Panels in generating electricity, 3) Electric power produced by solar cell panels. The results of this study explain that the use of fuzzy logic can regulate the speed of water for cooling on panels so that it can be said that the cooling system for solar panels is suitable for use in the tropics, because sunlight is very abundant and is in the equatorial area.

Abstract

The development of the utilization of solar panels in the future will continue to increase. One characteristic form of solar panels is the I-V curve which can be used to analyze the amount of solar panel output power. By knowing the I-V curve, we can get Maximum Power Point Estimation (MPPE) value that can be supported by solar panels. Information about the estimated value of the maximum solar panel power is an important part in determining the loading capacity, while maintaining the life of the equipment used. Feed Forward Neural Network with Back Propagation Algorithm (FFBP) has proven to be able to provide MPPE value information on solar panel output. The input values ​​in ANN are the voltage and current of the solar panel, while the output of ANN is in the form of an estimated power value. MPPE simulation results obtained an average error of 0.04 points between actual power (MPP) and estimated power (MPPE).

Abstract

The battery is an important component in the context of implementing renewable energy. The type of battery that has a density in energy storage is lithium polymer. The parameter in the battery that must be considered is the State of Charge (SOC) estimation. In general, the SOC battery estimation uses the coloumb counting method because the difficulty level is low. However, there are weaknesses in the dependence on the utility of the current sensor which is used as an accumulation of the integral of the incoming and outgoing currents over time. In this study presents Back Propagation Neural Network (BPNN) as an algorithm for estimating SOC based on OCV-SOC characteristic curves. The OCV-SOC characteristic curve of the battery is obtained from the battery pulse test. Battery voltage, current and discharging time are used as the first BPNN input layer for the estimation of Open Circuit Voltage (OCV). OCV will be learned as the second BPNN input layer for estimating battery SOC. The results of SOC estimation simulations obtained an average error of 0.479% against the real SOC based on the characteristic curve of OCV - SOC.

Abstract

Water quality has an important role in the field of aquaculture. One of the factors that determine water quality is the level of TDS (Total Disolved Solid). Therefore, a TDS meter that has precise accuracy is needed to be able to accurately measure the quality of various types of water. In this study developed a prototype capable of measuring TDS levels in water. This prototype consists of a TDS sensor device, Arduino UNO and an LCD to display the results of the measured water quality readings. So that the accuracy read by the prototype is able to match the commercial TDS meter, the researchers used a linear regression algorithm to be included in the Arduino TDS program. The results of the experiment show that the accuracy of the TDS prototype which was originally 77% increased to 98.3%, is almost close to precision with commercial TDS meters in general.

Abstract

The outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic has forced society to implement the Clean and Healthy Lifestyle, the one which is washing hands. Hand Sanitizer is an alternative product that could be used to clean hands, besides soap, from pathogenic microorganisms due to physical contact that we did throughout the day. However, it’s necessary to upgrade the working system from manual to automatic, so it would minimalize physical contact during the use. For example is by using Sensor Ultrasonic and IR Temperature Sensor MLX90614. These sensors which are connected to pump, will make an electric and automatic working system of Hand Sanitizer. As the methods, literature study and observation from previous researches/products would be the reference for the design and working system on this research. Eventually, it will help to reduce the spreading of coronavirus in society maximally.

Abstract

Elevator are one of the most important transportation these days. Elevator is a link in a tall building that has many floors. The role of the elevator which is always used by the public requires a high level of precision. In this study, researchers made a prototype elevator system using a stepper motor and obtained test results with a maximum error rate of 2% on the 10 cm elevator input using a ruler as a testing tool. The largest comparison of testing result using a ruler and using a rotary encoder is 0.2 cm or 2 mm at the 40 cm elevator input. The precision of the elevator prototype still can be improved by using half step mode when controlling the stepper motor.

Abstract

The rainy season is an obstacle for everyone, especially drying shoes, because rain can hinder the process of drying shoes. Currently, shoes are still dried using the conventional method, namely by utilizing the sun's heat. The next development is a system for drying shoes using gas fuel, but it has the potential for fire. In this final project, a shoe drying system is designed which is controlled using PI control according to a specified setpoint to dry shoes when exposed to rain or at night. To get the appropriate room temperature, the output voltage from the heater needs to be controlled using the Digital Firing Angle. The ignition angle is regulated by the Digital Firing Angle circuit. To maintain the temperature conditions in a stable condition, namely 65°C, this tool is controlled using PI (Proportional Integral) control. This dryer is designed for a maximum of 1 pair of wet shoes. With final humidity results in the drying room ≤ 20%RH. With this final project, it can dry shoes in rainy conditions in 94 minutes for synthetic leather shoes and 104 minutes for leather shoes.
