Abstract

Abstract : Prapatan Lima Bandung is a strategic intersection formed by the convergence of five major roads, playing a significant role in the city’s urban development. The area has evolved from the era of local Sundanese settlements, through Dutch colonial rule, to the post-independence period marked by the Asia-Africa Conference (AAC), shaping a complex spatial character. The character of the area includes the presence of both heritage and non-heritage buildings within five urban-forming blocks located in a designated cultural heritage district, comprising a variety of active and inactive structures. The site also spans two Sub-District Regions (SWK): Cibeunying and Karees, each oriented towards tourism and trade-services respectively. Currently, the vitality of spaces and buildings in the area is in decline, necessitating a revitalization effort to reactivate spatial functions and quality in a contextual manner. In this effort, the block with the highest potential as a catalyst has been selected—namely, the block bounded by Jalan Naripan, Jalan Sunda, and Jalan A. Yani. This study adopts a morphological approach encompassing building structures, street networks, and land use patterns; a contextual approach grounded in the historical trajectory of the area; and a spatial character approach focusing on corridor activity, scale, and function. This study aims to examine functions that can activate corridor inhabitance and the building articulation that shapes the spatial structure of Prapatan Lima, Bandung. The research produces design guidelines intended to revitalize contextual spatial articulation and support sustainable social and economic activity. Abstract

Cimahi City was originally one part of Bandung Regency, with rapid growth finally established as an administrative city on January 29, 1976, then became autonomous city on June 21, 2001. Cimahi currently become one of the growth areas of Bandung in the West. The current population is 561,386, with an average growth of 2.12% per year (source: population database of Cimahi City 2014). Green Open Space (RTH) in several cities in West Java has decreased both in terms of quality and quantity. This has the effect of reducing urban environmental quality and causing urban problems such as floods, especially in the rainy season, increasing air pollution, and decreasing urban happiness index due to the lack of open space available for social interaction. The similarity of the configuration of the arrangement of the site in this case the similarity of the typology of building mass composition, the number of occupants and the target of the residents of low income (MBR) of the two rusunawa Cimahi City, namely Cibeureum and Leuwigajah interesting to examine which is more effective the arrangement of green space and its utilization and the determinants what's playing. In the management, maintenance and utilization of the flats RTH is the main responsibility of apartment managers, in this case the Cimahi Municipal Government, but the involvement of all residents in maintaining and maintaining cleanliness, especially in disposing of waste in place and use the facilities provided responsibly.

Abstract

The loss of pedestrian shopping street characters in Jalan Tunjungan due to the transformation of Surabaya as a Metropolitan City In general, there are centers of commercial activity in a city. Through the patterns of development of commercial activities, a pedestrian shopping street typology which prioritizes pedestrians in its pattern and activity system was born. Jalan Tunjungan Surabaya represents this typology well because it was developed to be a pedestrian-based shopping area in Gemeente government era. Along with the development of Surabaya, the uniqueness of the urban artefact of Tunjungan area is transformed and being dominated by multi-storey buildings and Jalan Tunjungan became a city axis. The uniqueness of Jalan Tunjungan which was able to attract tourists is endangered due to the demands of Surabaya's economic development. Through a synchronic-diachronic approach with qualitative-descriptive methods, this study aims to identify patterns, types, and systems that create the physical-spatial characteristics of pedestrian shopping street in Jalan Tunjungan that has remained adapted and lost due to the transformation of Surabaya as a metropolitan city. Through comparative analysis, the findings conclude that the only thing remains is the linearity pattern of the building structure, while the type of road is adapted into one-way avenue with planned lane division and the addition of on-site parking system. Building types is adapted into commercial buildings. The characteristics of the arcades in some buildings are lost, the transportation system removes the passenger stop, the bridge is no longer being used, and the pedestrian pattern is disrupted due to the pattern of traffic. Jalan Tunjungan, which used to prioritize the experience of shopping by walking, has been degraded to a shopping street area. © 2019 Anneke Clauvinia Patriajaya, Yohanes Karyadi Kusliansjah

Abstract

Dynamic of changes, transformation and permanency in environment of Pasar Baru Bandung from 1906 - 2019 Pasar Baru as one of the growth poles of the city center of Bandung, whose development has helped to shape the urban characteristics of the downtown area. This environment undergoes changes and transformation in pattern, type, and system which related to its physical environment, during the initial formation of the area until now. The purpose of this study is to describe the non-physical change, transformation, and permanency in the Pasar Baru Bandung environment which affect it characteristics. The study approach is synchronic-diachronic with descriptive qualitative methods using historical reading from 1906 to 2019 and tissue analysis in 2019. Research carried out around Pasar Baru Bandung, including Jalan Otto Iskandardinata, Jalan ABC, Jalan Pecinan Lama, Jalan Alkateri and small streets in between. The results of this study indicate that the change in system often occurs in the environment related to access, however, access does not have any significant transformation compared to the physical structure. The function in the environment tends to be permanent compared with the transformation in building and the mass density of the environment.

Abstract

The implementation of Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) concept on pedestrian paths in Manggarai, Jakarta, requires well-ordered pedestrian path, as an area linkage between transit facility and various functions around it. Presently, the pedestrian paths condition around Manggarai Station is still not optimal. Meanwhile, the Transit-Oriented Development concept demands compliance with the standards in its implementation. This study aims to assess the pedestrian paths feasibility in the area around Manggarai Station, based on the criteria that should be met in supporting the concept implementation process. This research applied an evaluative method through POE (Post-Occupancy Evaluation), in measuring the standards of the existing pedestrian paths and providing recommendations for the authorities. The findings are novelties in understanding the disadvantages of safety factors, physical infrastructure, shelter for the hot and rainy season, easy access to the elderly and people with disabilities, especially in linking supporting facilities. Interestingly, the pedestrian path has an attraction that triggers people to walk a long distance with ease. Also, these findings are important in designing Transit-Oriented Development at Manggarai, such as wide sidewalks, providing zebra crossings, and trees. In addition, these result are in the form of suggestions for improving pedestrian path conditions as well as providing action plans for stakeholders.

Abstract

The existence of park facilities as public open spaces is a phenomenon of development activities that are much done, referring to the need for interaction space for the community. The function of the park in its development cannot be separated from the historical value since the colonial era, where its existence is a form of providing green open space oriented to parks in Europe. Seeing the reality of its development, the park facilities now are not only built in the city enclave, but also penetrate into formal environments such as government offices. Bandung, Surabaya and Semarang are the 3 (three) examples of capitals in Indonesia that carried out that development, which are the City Hall complex. The two facilities located in one area can encourage issues regarding the borders of public parks which accommodate informal activities over the control of the city government center office environment structure as an existing building that accommodates formal activities. The method used in this study is descriptive qualitative through an analytical approach based on theory. The analysis is carried out by observing the landscape layout and functions since its inception in order to find out what aspects are maintained or transformed. After that, regarding the ownership of the elements of its present spatial borders. Based on research, Bandung, Surabaya, and Semarang City Hall shows that the existence of public parks in an office environment results in an arrangement that can influence the overall arrangement and user movement pattern of the environment.

Abstract

This research investigates the critical role of physical linkage and connectivity in the integration between formal and informal urban areas of the city, as well as recognizes aspects related to physical and social segregation that prevent this integration process. The objective is to understand this role in relation to the viability of integration. Qualitative method describes effectiveness of connectivity and linkage thorough the complexity of interaction between formal and informal areas in the built-form and open space. This research includes two important areas in Bandung, Indonesia, namely, Hegarmanah and Ciumbuleuit. Findings show Hegarmanah as an enclosed configuration with more incidence of controlled areas, through physical barriers, legal restrictions and circulation limitations. Ciumbuleuit presents less controlled areas, encouraging a wider use of public space, a variety of services, commerce, commuting. Interaction between pedestrians and built environment has experienced more adaptation, in a more open configuration. In conclusion, space configuration, borders, limited access and forms of control represent obstructions to the integration process, impairing physical connectivity, encouraging spatial segregation due to isolation and linkage disruption. Integration will be stimulated when space is articulated and able to adapt. Coexistence of seemingly social and physically segregated formal and informal parts of the city can be comprehended when there is a correct interpretation of the role of physical linkage and connectivity through the analysis of space.

Abstract

Banjarmasin, known as the city of a thousand rivers, is an accumulation of multi-deltas sedimentation, located -0.16 meters below sea level and 23 km from the estuary of the Barito river. The city embryo, which acts as the western boundary between the Martapura river and tributary regions, is influenced by daily tides from the Java sea. The morphological structure and building typology formation of tidal hydrodynamics influence the characteristic of the environmental context identity. Furthermore, the life adaptation to the natural context identity is a unique traditional water-based culture on the physical, territorial, and cultural order, characterized by the physical, functional, and normative attributes from the pre-colonial to the colonial era. Therefore, this study aims to identify the architectural identity of Banjarmasin's tidal river city and its forming elements through a morpho-typological approach using an interpretive-descriptive-retrospective method. The results showed that the structural identity of the architecture of Banjarmasin environment, as a tidal river city, is fragmented in the form of many deltas, thereby leading to sedimentation from river tributary in dendritic and meander patterns. In conclusion, the people's life adaptation to the natural environment created a traditional water culture with four contextual building typologies of the tidal river, namely raft, water stilt, land stilt, and landed houses with underground reservoir.
