Abstract

The present study deals with the realization of interpersonal meanings in the discourse of Abdul Qodir Jailani (AQJ). The aims of this study were to explain the mood, modality, and appraisal systems which are realized in the discourse of AQJ. It used a descriptive qualitative research in the form of discourse analysis. The results uncover that each domain of those three linguistic evidences had its proportion. First, the realization of Mood systems for the four texts was demanding goods and services especially the spoken texts and giving information. Second, the use of modality system was a high proportion that was found in text 1. However, a slight proportion was found in text 2, text 3, and text 4. Third, the realization of appraisal system showed the speakers and the writers feeling on the event including their appreciation, affect, judgment, and amplification. Deeply, it is suggested to conduct further study to create intelligible language in teaching, to make a critical thinker of students, and to produce the best understanding of social practices of the way people do.

Abstract

This research aims at finding the effectiveness of Toondoo Comic in teaching speaking at the second semester of Sendratasik Study Program of Hamzanwadi University in the academic year 2018-2019. This research was a pre experiment by using single group pre-test and post-test design. The population of the study was 47 students from A and B classes. The sample of the study was 17 students from class A. It was taken through purposive random sampling. A speaking test was used in collecting the data. The data collected were analyzed by using descriptive statistic, and paired sample t-test was used to test the hypothesis. It was performed using SPSS 22 for Windows. The result shows that the mean in the pre-test was 41.06 and was 60.71 in the post- test. Additionally, the hypothesis testing using paired sample t-test resulted significance (2-tailed) value level .000; it was lower than .05. This indicated that Toondoo comic was significantly effective in teaching speaking. Thus it is suggested that Tondoo comic is considered an alternative media in teaching and learning process.

Abstract

This researcher aims to determine the students' interest through pop up books towards the success of English learning and the students' ability to use this technique in the learning process. For qualitative data, a questionnaire was used by distributing questionnaires to students and then conducting several interviews about the application of the technique. The test results increased to 85%. Meanwhile, as a result of analyzing students' opinions, we found that pop up book media is effective in improving students' English interest. Applying pop up technique in English learning, especially interest, is an appropriate strategy to increase students' English interest in the classroom.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to improve students' speaking skills through a project based learning, making them more immersive and active. This study used experimental techniques and analysis of students' cognitive abilities with quantitative research techniques through oral tests. The research questions considered in this study are: was there a significant effectiveness of simple project-based learning syntaxes in teaching speaking (pronunciation element) and to what extent was the effectiveness of simple project-based learning syntaxes in teaching speaking (pronunciation element)?. The purpose of this study is to know whether the Simple project-based learning syntaxes to teach speaking (pronunciation element) contributes significantly to the senior high school students’ speaking ability of eleventh grade student of MA NW Juet academic year 2024. And the perpose of this research is to find out the extent of Simple project-based learning syntaxes in teaching speaking (pronunciation element). The analytical methods used for data processing are included in the Social Science Statistics 22.0 for Windows. The results before applying the project based learning technique, only 50% of students are able to spek in English and after applying the project based learning, it improved student's ability to speak in English by 80%. Applying project based learning , especially speaking, This is the right strategy to improve students' speaking skills (pronunciation).

Abstract

This paper aims to show the Simple project-based learning in Teaching speaking, success. English and student attention using techniques during the learning process. quantitative data Experimentally conducted and collected using pre-study, treatment, and post-study techniques Offer multiple-choice tests before and after applying the technique. Although the data are qualitative, Utilize surveys by distributing surveys to students and teacher also conducting multiple related interviews to simple project-based learning. Only test results before applying the technique 65% of the students are proficient in speaking English, but after demonstrating The technique, it improved the student's English speaking ability to 89%. On the other hand, student analysis Studies have also shown the Simple project-based learning in Teaching Speaking techniques are effective to Improve the students' English skills. Application of Simple project-based learning Techniques in Learning For this reason, improving your English, especially your speaking skills, is the right strategy to improve your students' skills. Techniques can turn abstract concepts into reality in the classroom.

Abstract

This research aims to enhance students' speaking skills through project-based learning, increasing their engagement and active participation. Using a qualitative approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews and classroom observations involving ten eleventh-grade students at SMAN 1 Sembalun academic year 2024. Thematic analysis was employed to identify critical patterns and themes within the collected data. The findings indicate that students found the project-based method a more enjoyable and meaningful way to practice speaking. They reported increased confidence and engagement in speaking activities due to the opportunities to work in groups and undertake relevant projects. However, some students also faced challenges like group collaboration and time management. This study provides in-depth insights into how project-based learning methods can impact students' speaking skills and offers recommendations for improving the implementation of this approach in the classroom.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to introduce Cake App as a medium to improve students' speaking skills. Communicative App for Key English stands for CAKE. Communicative App for Key English can be downloaded for free from AppStore or Google Play, complete with various features to improve speaking and train them with various exercises to pronounce words/phrases/sentences correctly. It comes with a microphone icon that students can use directly to speak according to the audio that has been played. This study is an action research that aims to improve students' speaking skills by using Cake application. This study discusses how Cake application as a learning media can improve students' speaking ability. Data were collected through speaking tests and interviews in a classroom action research. The researcher made three cycles and gave scores for each cycle. In the first cycle, the students' average score was 30 points, the second cycle was 70 points. Cake Application helps students in pronouncing various kinds of words more easily and comprehensively. The results showed that the use of Cake application has provided convenience and benefits for students in improving their English Speaking skills by using Cake application.

Abstract

This study investigated the effectiveness of Project-Based Learning (PBL) in enhancing the speaking skills of students at SMAN 1 Sembalun. Using a pre-experimental design with pre-test and post-test assessments, the research involved 16 eleventh-grade students. The results indicated a significant improvement in speaking abilities, with the average pre-test score of 48.75 increasing to an average post-test score of 71.56 after the PBL intervention. This shift reflected enhanced pronunciation, fluency, and grammar usage, demonstrating that students became more confident communicators. While PBL proved beneficial, challenges such as time constraints and the need for effective facilitation were identified. This research contributed to the growing body of evidence supporting PBL as an effective pedagogical approach, highlighting its potential to foster independent learning and improve communication skills.
