Abstract

The coastal of Lake Tempe is located in Watallipue Village, Wajo Regency, which is one of the flood-prone residential areas. The flood disaster that occurred in the coastal area of Lake Tempe caused various problems to arise both from physical and non-physical aspects. Flooding in Watallipue Village occurs almost every year due to the overflow of Lake Tempe and surrounding rivers with heights ranging from 1m to 5m. Based on field observations, 100% of the coastal communities of Lake Tempe have been affected by floods. At the time of the flood, people living in a radius of 50-100m from the river bank were evacuated to a safe place because the flood reached a height of 5-6m. The purpose of this community service activity is to socialize flood disaster mitigation by involving community participation. The implementation method is in the form of community service. Data collection techniques are observation, documentation and interviews. The data analysis techniques are descriptive qualitative and spatial. As a first step, interviews and questionnaires were distributed to 56 respondents to determine the level of understanding of flood mitigation. Initial interviews showed only 23 of the 56 communities knew of the efforts that could be made in mitigating the impact of flooding. In addition, there are only 12 people who know the importance of signs, evacuation routes and temporary evacuation sites. Based on these conditions, socialization was carried out in the form of FGDs related to the concept of disaster mitigation by involving the community. The form of implementation of this concept is that the community plays a role in determining evacuation routes during floods, determining evacuation points in the area around the residence and compiling efforts to reduce the risk of flooding in the coastal area of Lake Tempe. The community conveyed that they were active in discussions and had high hopes for the government's assistance in efforts to mitigate flood disasters on the shores of Lake Tempe. The results of this activity show an increase in public understanding of flood mitigation. The post-test results showed that 56 respondents (100%) understood the efforts that can be made in reducing the impact of flood disasters and the importance of providing signs, evacuation routes and temporary evacuation sites.

Abstract

Apart from functioning as a place for loading and unloading goods and boarding and disembarking passengers, train stations also play a role in spurring economic growth in a region. In order for the train station to function well, efforts are needed to increase the station's contribution to society through improving train services. One of the important elements related to rail transportation services is accessibility and connectivity. Collaborative Service LBE activities take the form of outreach activities aimed at providing information and understanding regarding the accessibility and connectivity of the Tanete Rilau Railway Station (SKA-TR), in Tanete Rilau District, Barru Regency, South Sulawesi. Socialization activities were carried out in collaboration with Laloang Village in Kec. Tanete Rilau. The socialization participants were specifically 23 women who live in Laloang Village with various livelihoods. The method for implementing collaborative LBE community service activities is preceded by conducting a survey of the existing conditions of SKA-TR and outreach activities. This socialization activity explained the existing condition of SKA-TR through the presentation of photos of the survey results of the existing condition of SKA-TR, accessibility and connectivity material, and discussions. In measuring the success of activities, a pre-test was carried out before socialization and a post-test after socialization. The results of the pre-test and post-test qualitative analysis showed that participants' understanding and knowledge regarding the existing conditions of SKA-TR had increased to 74.53%. Meanwhile, the increase in understanding of SKA-RT accessibility and connectivity was 67.7%. These results indicate the success of the activity which is expected to indirectly attract participants' interest (specially the ladies) in using rail transportation.

Abstract

Mamminasata is a metropolitan urban area in Eastern Indonesia. One of the areas in this metropolitan area is Takalar Regency. An effective and efficient method of monitoring and evaluating infrastructure in Takalar Regency is needed. One method that can be done is by monitoring and evaluating infrastructure in the region based on geographic information systems, which are computer-based information systems used to process and store geographic-based data or information. Monitoring and evaluation is done by looking at the number and distribution of infrastructure spatially. The partner in the implementation of this activity is the Public Works, Spatial Planning, Housing and Settlement Area Office of Takalar Regency. Activities are carried out by providing material and training on the use of Geographic Information Systems in monitoring and evaluating regional infrastructure. Training on monitoring and evaluation of regional infrastructure in the mamminasata region based on geographic information systems aims to increase the capacity of human resources (HR) / civil servants (PNS) in related agencies, especially in the Spatial Planning Division in terms of monitoring and evaluating infrastructure that has been built, as well as more effective and efficient spatial supervision by utilizing Geographic information systems. In conducting monitoring activities, participants were trained to use Arc GIS and Google Earth software. The Google Earth software used is Google Earth software that is run on a smart phone. These two software make monitoring, evaluation, and also supervision easier to do in a large area with limited human resources. From the results of the training, there was a significant increase in the number of participants' knowledge from 16.7% to 100%.

Abstract

The development of trade and services in the Masamba Urban Area forms a linear pattern on the main roads. In addition, in transitional areas and peripheral areas the existing trade and services are less developed, so the service orientation must be to the central area and the burden on the central area becomes heavy. The high intensity of activities along the main roads of the area creates a attraction and generation that can be one of the factors causing transportation problems (traffic congestion). The aim of this research are 1) to identify the factors that affects the development of trade area in Masamba Urban Areas, 2) to determine the potential locations of trade area in Masamba Urban Areas, 3) to formulate the direction of sustainable trade area development in Masamba Urban Areas. The data used consist of secondary data including demographic data, trade facilities, road networks, public facilities and infrastructure. Data collection was carried out by field surveys, mapping, questionnaires, and interviews. The analysis technique used are multiple linear regression analysis dan spatial analysis in the form of grid-based analysis. The results of the research on regression analysis show that the variables that have a significant effect on the development of trade areas in the Masamba Urban Areas include Demographics (X1), Public Facilities (X3), and Government Policy (X4), while Accessibility (X2) has no significant effect. Furthermore, based on the results of the grid-based analysis, three value categories are obtained, namely Very Potential (Values 23-30), Potential (Values 15-22), and Not Potential (Values 7-14), where most of the Masamba Urban Areas is included in the potential category.

Abstract

The Lakkang Delta area in Tallo District, Makassar City, is a unique small island surrounded by the Tallo and Pampang Rivers, presenting the character of a ‘village in the middle of the city’ with high ecological, social and cultural potential. However, limited accessibility, basic infrastructure and tourism institutions mean that its potential has not been optimized. This community service activity was carried out in Lakkang Village, Tallo District, Makassar City, involving 30 participants consisting of the community, village officials, and representatives of tourism awareness groups. This activity aimed to develop guidelines for the development of the Lakkang Delta area as a community based ecotourism destination using the Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) method. This method includes participatory mapping, transect walks, in-depth interviews, and door-to-door socialization to explore local potential and actual problems in the field. The activity was evaluated through pre-test and post-test to measure the community's level of understanding of the concepts of ecotourism and spatial-based planning. The results showed a significant increase in the average understanding score from 60 to 85 (an increase of 41.6%). The main identified potentials were bamboo forests, fishponds, and Japanese bunker historical sites, as well as the social value of mutual cooperation. The main issues included transportation access, basic infrastructure, and tourism management institutions. This activity had a direct impact on increasing the community's capacity to manage tourism potential, the creation of a participatory potential map, and recommendations for development strategies aligned with the Makassar City Spatial Plan (RT/RW) 2024–2043. Thus, this activity demonstrated the effectiveness of the PRA method in promoting active participation and ecological awareness among the community.
