Abstract

The effective use of technology in teaching process relies on the ability of teachers to develop knowledge using various technologies which appropriate to their content and pedagogical skills (Mouza, 2016). This knowledge is amalgamated into a framework called TPACK (Technology, Pedagogy, Content, Knowledge) which teachers have widely used to develop effective teaching using technology. Thus, this framework is used to assess pre-service teachers in global practices of educational context. Hence, this study aimed to explore the extent to which TPACK frameworks are integrated into the field experience assessment instruments in Indonesia. A qualitative content analysis research method and design were used in this study. There are 70 formulated indicators used to analyze the data (statements: words, phrases, and sentences). Data source of this study was 6 assessment instruments of field experience practice from 6 different universities around Indonesia. The result found that 27 out of 70 indicators were integrated into all components of the assessment instrument: Teaching Practice, Lesson Planning, Social Competence, Personality Competence, and Implementation Report. The domain of TPACK that integrated the most is Pedagogical Competence (PK). In contrast, none of the TCK and TPCK domain indicators were integrated into the field experience assessment components of pre-service English teachers in Indonesia.

Abstract

One alternate way for making English more attractive is digital storytelling. Cooperative learning is essential when dealing with youngsters of varying levels and intellect. The method used in this study is experimental. The researcher used the experiential technique to study the cause-effect relationship. Based on the outcomes of the initial presentation, it was found that the difference in the average pretest and posttest scores from the implementation of digital Storytelling With Code Mixing (English-Indonesian) improved the speaking ability of eighth-grade students. The average score attained, known by the posttest, is higher than the average score on the pretest. Because of sig. (2-tailed) is a little less to = 0.05 (sig. 2-tailed = 0.002 0.05), H0 is rejected. So it can be concluded that there has been an increase in the speaking ability of eighth-grade students after implementing digital Storytelling With Code Mixing (English-Indonesian). It shows that the existence of a digital Storytelling With Code Mixing (English-Indonesian) program will enhance the speaking skills.

Abstract

In late 2021, an Extracurricular English Club was established at SMP Garuda, Kota Tangerang, following mentoring and workshops conducted by the Community Service Team from the English Education Department of Universitas Islam Syekh-Yusuf. After operating for a year, the school identified several areas for improvement and evaluation regarding the implementation of the club's activities, particularly concerning the extracurricular coaches and the content delivered to students. This prompted the school to plan the development of a structured curriculum or guidebook for the English Club at SMP Garuda. To enhance the quality of the English Club's extracurricular activities, a community service program was initiated to assist in the development of the club's curriculum at SMP Garuda Kota Tangerang. Although the English Club is an extracurricular program, it is essential to establish a clear set of activities, such as a syllabus and relevant materials, to help students achieve the desired outcomes in improving their English language skills. Through this program, facilitators provided guidance in developing a syllabus-based curriculum focused on topical and functional content. This was accomplished by conducting a Needs Analysis and a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) with the coaches of the English Club at SMP Garuda Kota Tangerang.

Abstract

The study of mathematics is frequently viewed as challenging and uninteresting, which has a detrimental effect on elementary school pupils' numeracy abilities. The purpose of this study is to evaluate Numeracy-Drama (N-Drama) as an innovative approach to raising fifth-grade students' numeracy proficiency. The study uses a classroom action research design and a quantitative approach with 20 students from three classes in a Tangerang Regency elementary school. With an average gain score of 9.5 and pretest scores rising from 20 to 29.5, the results show a significant improvement in average scores. By offering a fun and engaging learning environment, the N-Drama method improves students' comprehension of mathematics. Individual achievement disparities, however, point to the need for more flexible teaching strategies. Consequently, N-Drama assists students in comprehending mathematics while offering a creative learning experience, making it a potential solution to improving the quality of mathematics education in Indonesia
