Abstract

Characterization of the liquid extract of marine sponge (Axinella carteri Dendy) has been carried out by using the physical, chemical and physicochemical methods. The physical character of the extract was yellowish brown liquid, smells fishy and bitter taste, with a specific gravity of 0.9644 ± 0.02576. The marine sponge contained alkaloids, steroids and terpenoids, with total alkaloid content of 0.9433% ± 0.136133%. In physicochemical analysis, residu on drying was 7.156% ± 0.2944%, ash content 2.5576% ± 0.2668%, acid insoluble ash 0.014% ± 0.0035%, concentration of substances dissolved in water 5.6153% ± 0.2759%, concentration of substances dissolved in ethanol was 6.4263% ± 0.4622%, levels of a substance extracted from each fraction was 0.9066% ± 0.0666% in hexane fraction, 0.1866% ± 0.03045% in chloroform fraction, 0.0616% ± 0.04297% in ethyl acetate fraction and 6.449% ± 0.07642% in water fraction. Profile of thin layer chromatography (TLC) showed the existence five stain with value Rf  0.1; 0.16; 0.3; 0.44 and 0.56.

Abstract

The research about the effect of microwave drying methods on content of phenolic compounds and antioxidant activity of Gynura pseudochina,(Lour.) Merr. have been done. The determination of phenolic compounds was carried out according to Folin-Ciocalteu method and antioxidant activity was evaluated by DPPH method, calculated as gallic acid equivalent (GAE). The research showed that the highest phenolic compounds and the strongest antioxidant activity obtained by microwave drying method compared by air drying method. The phenolic compounds each gram sample by using microwave drying is 1.673 mg phenolic compounds and antioxidant activities were calculated as the IC50 at concentration 2.876 mg/mL.

Abstract

Research about microbial countamination on slimming herbals powders, pills, capsules and caplets circulating in Tarandam market, Padang, has been evaluated. Powders had total plate count 0 x 106 CFU/g for PP (standard quality of powder was ≤ 1 x 106 CFU/g for total plate count). Pills had total plate count ≤ 0.5 x 105 CFU/g for MR (standard quality of pill was ≤ 1 x 105 CFU/g for total plate count). Capsules had total plate count 1.1 x 105 CFU/g for LM and 1.6 x 105 CFU/g for SA (standard quality of capsule was ≤ 1 x 104 CFU/g for total plate count) and Caples had total plate count 0.2 x 105 CFU/g for SC (standard quality of caplet was ≤ 1 x 104 CFU/g for total plate count). The total plate count calculation showed that only powders and pills were observed the BPOM standard quality of herbal drugs.The fungal count from all of samples were not observed the standard quality of herbal drugs. Powders had total fungal count 9 x 104 CFU/g for PP (standard quality of powder was ≤ 1 x 104 CFU/g for total fungal count). Pills had total fungal count 3.1 x 104 CFU/g for MR (standard quality of pill was ≤ 1 x 103 CFU/g for total fungal count). Capsules had total fungal count 2,3 x 104 CFU/g  for LM and 2.6 x 104 CFU/g for SA (standard quality of capsule was ≤ 1 x 103 CFU/g for total fungal count) and caplets had total fungal count 2.1 x 104 CFU/g  for SC (standard quality of caplet was ≤ 1 x 103 CFU/g for total fungal count).

Abstract

Have done the manufacture and characterization of thick herba extracts meniran (Phyllanthus niruri Linn). Condensed extract is made using 96% ethanol solvent was concentreated by rotary evapolator. The observed character of the extract that is by fluorescence analysis. Fluorescence analysis performed on each fraction, methanol fraction, ethyl acetat fraction the fraction of water, kloroforom fraction, eter fraction in the test under UV 254 nm and 366 nm UV light whit the addition of reagents. The results obtained from the fraction of a significant color reaction is positive alkaloid characterized by a bright green color under UV light 254 nm, positive light yellow flavonoid under 366 nm UV lamp. In this study also tested the physic chemical.

Abstract

Research about making of microcrystalline cellulose from stick bulrush ( Pennisetum purpureum Schumach) have done. From 300 g dry stick bulrush got 50,772 g microcrystalline cellulose. The loss on drying was about 5,57%. Characters a white, granular powder, odorless and tasteless. Identification with iodinated zinc chloride solution the substance becomes violet-blue. Solubility in the ammoniacal copper tetrammine solution it dissolves completely. Water-soluble substances the residue weighs is 0,085%. Starch with add iodine 0,05 M is negative (blue colour isn’t produced). The pH of the supernatan liquid is 5,46 and Hydration capacity is 3,504. Bulk and tapping densities is 0,251 and 0,374. Carr’s index and Hausner index  is 32,68 and 1,49. The inspection loss on drying, Characters organoleptic, Identification, Solubility in the ammoniacal copper tetrammine solution and Starch of result microcrystalline cellulose same with comparator (Vivacel pH 102) and fulfill conditions of British Parmacopoeia 2002.

Abstract

A study about production and characterization of dried Piper betle L. Leaf extracts with the a ddition of lactose as drying agents has been perfomed with various ratio 1:1, 1:1½ and 1:2. Ekstrak mode better various ratio 1:2 with dried extracts characterization result are : powder, fawn color.odor like plant and somewhat bitter taste. The dry extractswas madebycomparison ofextracts: lactose 1:1, 1:1½ and 1:2 and the best ekstract was in ratio 1:2, levels ofwater-soluble compounds extract 1:2 is 23.0699% ± 1.6353, levels ofethanolsolublecompounds 3.8094%  ±0.2109%, losses on drying 2.1367% ± 0.0144%, moisture content 2.0196 % ± 0.0019 %,apparentspecific gravity 0.5482 g/mL ± 0.0003 %, specific gravity of incompressible 0.5558 g/mL ± 0.0004 g/mL, The total ash content of 0.5660% ± 0.0613% and acidinsolubleash content of  0.5179%  ± 0.0309%.

Abstract

A study about production and characterization of dried guava leaf extract with the addition of lactose as drying agents has been performed. Dried extract characterization result are: powder, brown color, characteristic odor and taste like plant and somewhat bitter taste. Dry extract was made by adding lactose in ratio of extracts:lactose 2:1; 1:1, and 2 : 3 and the best extract was in ratio 2:1. Levels of water-solube compound the extract 2:1 was 83.90% ± 1.49%, levels of ethanol. Soluble compounds 13.01% ± 0.11%, total flavonoid content of 1.17% ± 0.01%,  loss on drying 1.52% ± 0.07%, apparent specific gravity 0.60 g/mL and specific gravity of incompressible 0.78 g/mL, total ash content of 1.174% ± 0.006% and acid insoluble ash content of 0.946% ± 0.036%.

Abstract

Development and validation of methods of analysis of ranitidine hydrochloride tablets have been done by absorbance method and the method of the area under the curve by ultraviolet spectrophotometry. This study use the principle of calculation of absorbance and the area under the curve obtained from the measurement of the analyte solution by using UV-Vis spectrophotometer and distilled water as the selected solvent. Linearity ranitidine hydrochloride obtained in the concentration range of 6 - 14 ppm with correlation coefficient value by absorbance and the area under curve method respectively 0.99943 and 0.99947. Results of the study showed that the samples of generic ranitidine hydrochloride tablets obtained by absorbance method and the area under curve method was 99.57 ± 0.001 % and 103.30 ± 0.001 %. The average percent recovery obtained by the absorbance and the area under curve method was 98.31 % and 95.39 %. While the research results for the samples of Gasela tablets obtained by the absorbance and the area under curve method was 96.98 ± 0.002 % and 104.33 ± 0.009 %. The average percent recovery obtained by the absorbance method and the area under each curve was 98.89 % and 94.78 %.

Abstract

Study about comparative influence of ethanol – water as solvent extraction of phenolic compounds from Dewa leaves (Gynura pseudochina (L) DC ) and it’s antioxidant activity has been done. The solvent ratios tested were 100:0; 80:20; 70:30; 60:40; 50:50. The result showed that the ratio of ethanol – water used as solvent has a significant correlation to an extractable material, phenolic compound and it’s antoxidant activity (P <0.05 ). The best solvent obtained by ethanol – water of 60 : 40, which gave the highest phenolic compound and antioxidant activity.

Abstract

Sebuah metode sederhana yang tepat, akurat, cepat dan ekonomis telah dikembangkan dan divalidasi untuk analisis betametason tablet menggunakan spektrofotometri ultraviolet dengan metode absorbansi dan luas daerah di bawah kurva. Penentuan metode ini dilakukan pada penyerapan panjang gelombang maksimum 241,40 nm dan luas daerah di bawah kurva pada rentang 210,40-290,40 nm dengan menggunakan pelarut asam klorida 0.1 N. Metode analisis ini divalidasi dengan linieritas, batas deteksi, batas kuantifikasi, presisi dan akurasi. Linieritas pada metode absoransi menunjukkan hasil persamaan regresi y = 0,02273x + 0,00228 dengan r = 0,99958, dengan metode luas daerah di bawah kurva menunjukkan hasil persamaan regresi y = 0,643x – 0,214 dengan  r = 0,9955. Batas deteksi dan batas kuantifikasi pada metode absorbansi 1,754531 dan  5,316812, dengan metode luas daerah di bawah kurva 3,888631 dan 11,783730. Akurasi yang diperoleh dengan metode absorbansi dan luas daerah di bawah kurva memenuhi persyaratan yang divalidasi yakni 80-120 %. Presisi yang diperoleh dengan metode absorbansi dan luas daerah di bawah kurva memenuhi persyaratan yang divalidasi dengan hasil % RSD ≤ 2 %. Analisa statistik menunjukkan dengan uji t dua sampel berpasangan yang menunjukkan bahwa kedua metode tersebut tidak berbeda secara signifikan
