Abstract

Preparation and characterization of dried herb extract of meniran (Phyllanthus niruri L.) has been done. Dried extract was made by adding lactose with a certain ratio, with the ratio of extract and lactose are: 1 : ½ (F1); 1 : 1 (F2); 1 : 1½ (F3); 1 : 2 (F4). Characters abserved were specific and non specific character of  the dried extract. Non specific character of dry extract include loss in drying values, real density, compressed  density, total ash, acid insoluble ash content. Specifik characterization extract includes identities, organoleptic, levels of water soluble exstract the levels of compounds soluble in ethanol and levels of chemical constituents. Dried extract mode with F3 has better characteristics than the other formulas. The name of the extract is Extractum Phyllanthus niruri L.Siccum. The extract was in the form of dry powder, dark brown, odor like meniran crude herb with a strong flavor. Levels of water soluble extract was 55.1077 % b/b ± 11.2218 % b/b while levels of ethanol-soluble extract 18.7214 % b/b ± 0.6733 % b/b. flavonoid levels of the dried extract was 0.2413 % w/w.

Abstract

The study about characterization of water extract of Gynura pseudochina (L.) DC leaves has been done. The study reveals the following non-spesific and specific parameters. It’s water content, density, total ash, insoluble acid ash are 78.69 + 0.21 %; 1.08 + 0.0 %; 3.99 + 0.12%; and 0.67 + 0.10% respectively. It’s bacterial count are 4.4 x 103 colonies/g and 2.3 x 102 colonies/g for fungis count. Gynura pseudochina (L.) DC also known as daun dewa in Indonesia. It has Gynura pseudochina Folium Aqueous Liquidum Extractum as it’s identity. The extract is a liquid extract, with swarthy brown colored, specific smells and tasteless. It’s contains secondary metabolites such as alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins and tannins. The content of compounds soluble in water are 20.25 + 0.53% and soluble in ethanol are 8.59 + 0.79%. The total flavonoids content obtained using spectrophotometry UV-Visible method was 0.07 + 0.01 % w/w.

Abstract

A determination of phenolic compounds and antioxidant activity from Psidium guajava leaf by UV–Visible spectrophotometry has been done. The determination of phenolic compounds was carried out according to Folin-Ciocalteau method and antioxidant activity was evaluated by DPPH method, calculated as gallic acid equivalent (GAE). The determination of phenolic compound showed that the fresh sample , air drying, oven drying 40C and oven drying 60C contained 11.207; 4.129; 4.525 and 8.357 mg GAE/g Sample, IC50 of these sample were 0.218; 0.515; 0.50 and 0.315 mg/g, respectively.

Abstract

The research on preparation and characterization of dried leaves extract of simplicia sambiloto (Andrograpgis paniculata Nees.) has been done. The dry extract is made by adding various ratio of lactose, which is the ratio of the extract and drying with lactose 1x viscous extract (F1), 1½ x viscous extract (F2) and 2x viscous extract (F3). The name of the extract is Extractum Andrographis paniculata Nees. Siccum. The extract was in the form of dry powder, brownish green, tasteless with a very bitter taste. Levels of water soluble extract was 97,2472% ± 0,4598%, while levels of ethanol soluble extract 15,3012 ± 0,2594%.

Abstract

The influence of solvents on the gaining of phenolic compounds and antioxidant activity of  meniran herbs (Phyllanthus niruri L.)  have been evaluated. The meniran herbs were extracted with  methanol-water, ethanol-water and acetone-water. Total phenolic content of these extracts were determined by using the Folin-Ciocalteau method and antioxidant activity of these extracts were determined by using  DPPH method. The results showed that extraction with methanol-water, ethanol-water and acetone-water give extractives in ammount of 167.9, 152.8 and 135.7 mg/g, respectively. The total phenolic compound content of these extracts were 73.4584, 59.9798 and 48.9976 mg/g respectively. Where as the antioxidant activity (IC50 value) of these extract were 0.3987,  0.4323 and 0.4495 mg/mL, respectively.

Abstract

The simple, accurate, sensitive and selective ultraviolet spectrophotometry has been developed and validated for analyzing of propanolol hydrochloride tablets with absorbance and area under curve method. These methods used solvent HCl 0.1 N with wavelength 288.60 nm, and the area under the curve measured at a wavelength of 248-302.80 nm. The calibration curve obtained in the concentration range of 8-16 µg/mL. With absorbance method showed results of the linear regression equation of y = - 0.1516+0.0502x  and value of r = 0.99993 and with the area under curve method showed results of the linear regression equation y  = –2.664+0.7657x  and value of r = 0.99973. The percentage of propanolol hydrochloride tablets with trademark of propanolol HCl absorbance method was 99.21 %  and with area under curve method it showed 101.24 %. The percentage levels of both samples fill the Indonesian Pharmacopoeia standards edition V which was 90–110 %. The average of percent recovery and RSD were obtained from both samples by absorbance and area under curve fill of validation parameters, ie 80-120 % and 1-2 % respectively. Statistical analysis showed that there was no significantly different between both of these method (sig.>0.05).

Abstract

The influence of drying method to the quality of sambiloto’s herbal crude had been done. The drying methode that used are oven drying at 45o C, direct sunlight drying and wind drying. The results showed that oven drying gave the best result with drying shrinkage value of 9.1147%, 9.3339% total ash value, acid insoluble ash content of 0.7768%, the levels of water-soluble extract 19.3226% and levels of 17.5160% ethanol-soluble extract.

Abstract

Development and validation of loperamide hydrochloride tablet method of analysis with absorbance method and area under the curve method have been done. This study used methanol and hydrochloric acid 0.1 N (9: 1) as the best solvent with maximum absorption at wavelength 259.00 nm. Linearity of loperamide hydrochloride was obtained in the concentration range 200-600 ppm with correlation coefficient value with absorbance method and the areas under the curve method were 0.9998 and 0.9865, respectively. The results showed that the levels of loperamide hydrochloride in generic tablets obtained by absorbance method and the area under the curve method were 105.71% and 96.20%, respectively. The results of determination of loperamide levels in tablets of trademark obtained by absorbance method and the area under the curve method were 102.85% and 98.57%, respectively. The level of both samples met the requirements of Pharmacopoeia Indonesia edition V that is 90% -110%.

Abstract

Effect of extraction methods on recovery of phenolic compounds and antioxidant activity of Gynura pseudochina (Lour ). DC ). have been evaluated. The determination of phenolic compounds was carried out accourding to Folin Ciocalteu method and antioxidant activity was evaluated by DPPH method, calculated as gallic acid equivalent (GAE). The result of research indicate that acquirement of four way extract rate of extraction maceration, soxhletation, percolation, reflux as follow 16.54%, 12.01%, 8,20%, 15,04% and the determination of phenolic compound showed the result for maceration, soxhletation, percolation, reflux as follow 26.0095 mg/g, 23.6149 mg/g, 13.86515 mg/g, 10.6792 mg/g respectively. Their antioxidant activities were 1.892 µg/ml, 2.052 µg/ml, 2.607 µg/ml, 2.325 µg/ml, respectively. The result of research indicate of acquirement, the determination of phenolic compound and antioxidant activities of four way extract is maceration.
