Abstract

One indicator that can show the well-being of a country's population is the number of maternal and infant deaths. Hemorrhage, hypertension during pregnancy, and diseases of the circulatory system are the leading causes of maternal mortality. One of the factors that contribute to a mother's ability to identify early signs of pregnancy danger and conduct early treatment is her knowledge. One way to encourage health promotion is to use an appropriate method, namely brainstorming. This study aims to improve the knowledge of pregnant women about the danger signs of pregnancy before and after receiving health promotion through the Brain Storming method. In this study, researchers used a pre-experimental design with a one group pretest postest design. This study involved pregnant women consisting of 30 people to undergo pregnancy checks in the Cipeundeuy Health Center area through purposive sampling method. In collecting data, author used a questionnaire which was used to ask what pregnant women knew about danger signs that might occur during pregnancy. The marginal homogeneity test was used to analyze the data. The results showed that the brainstorming method was effective for improving the knowledge of pregnant women, with a p-value: 0.000 (p < 0.05). Brainstorming can increase maternal knowledge because in its implementation the client participates in expressing opinions and experiences. Therefore, health centers can use the brainstorming method to improve clients' knowledge about danger signs during pregnancy to prevent complications.

Abstract

Abstract

Background: Anemia among adolescent girls remains a health issue that can affect their health, ability to concentrate in school, and productivity. Health education through animated videos and leaflets has been shown to increase knowledge about anemia prevention. However, research comparing the effectiveness of these two media in improving adolescent girls’ knowledge of anemia prevention remains limited. Objective: To compare effectiveness of health education using animated videos and leaflets on knowledge of anemia prevention among seventh-grade female students at SMPN 8 Cimahi. Method: This quantitative study used a quasi-experimental two-group pretest-posttest design. The sample consisted of 40 seventh-grade female students who met the inclusion criteria, agreed to participate, and completed the study. Respondents were allocated to an animated video group or a leaflet group. Knowledge was measured using a structured questionnaire before and after the intervention. Data were analyzed using the paired-sample t-test and Independent-sample t-test. Results: The mean knowledge score for the animated video group increased from 51,75 to 85,00 (p=0,001), while that for the leaflet group increased from 52,75 to 73,75 (p=0,001). The between-group comparison showed p=0,001 (p <0,005), with the increase in knowledge in the animated video group being higher than that in the leaflet group. Conclusion: Health education through animated videos and leaflets is effective in increasing knowledge about anemia prevention, with animated videos proving more effective than leaflets. Schools are encouraged to collaborate with community health centers in implementing adolescent health programs, particularly those focused on anemia prevention.INTISARILatar belakang: Anemia pada remaja putri masih menjadi masalah kesehatan yang dapat berdampak terhadap kesehatan, konsentrasi belajar, dan produktivitas. Abstract

Evidence on the role of husband support in maternal mental health remains limited in community-based midwifery services in Indonesia. This study aimed to examine the relationship between husband support and maternal mental health among pregnant women attending independent midwifery practices in Cimahi City and to explore the psychosocial mechanisms underlying this relationship. A convergent mixed-methods design was employed, involving 72 pregnant women for the quantitative component and 20 participants for in-depth qualitative interviews. Husband support, antenatal anxiety, and emotional wellbeing were assessed using validated questionnaires. Quantitative data were analyzed using Pearson correlation and multiple linear regression, while qualitative data were examined through thematic analysis. Husband support was significantly associated with lower antenatal anxiety and higher emotional wellbeing and remained an independent predictor of maternal mental health after controlling for maternal age, education, parity, and economic status. Descriptive findings indicated that a considerable proportion of participants experienced moderate to severe antenatal anxiety. Qualitative analysis identified emotional presence, shared responsibility, and affirmation of maternal identity as key mechanisms through which husband support strengthened maternal coping capacity. These findings demonstrate that husband support serves as an important protective psychosocial factor for maternal mental health. Integrating family empowerment strategies into routine antenatal care may improve psychological wellbeing and strengthen community-based maternal health services.
