Abstract

Skin is the outermost part of the body which is susceptible to solar radiation. Excessive radiation from ultraviolet (UV) rays can harm the skin, such as premature aging effect, erythema, and even skin cancer. Antioxidant compounds are needed to protect the skin from excessive exposure of UV rays. The antioxidant can be useful as a defense system against free radicals, ultraviolet radiation, and air pollution. One source of antioxidant from nature is Catechins. Catechins are obtained from the isolation of gambir (Uncaria gambir Roxb). Besides being useful as an antioxidant, Catechins also has antibacterial, antiseptic and wound healing effect. The antioxidant activity of Catechins can absorb UV rays, provides protection against oxidative stress, inflammation, and skin cancer. Therefore, the research is necessary to utilize the catechins in sunscreen lotion formulation. Catechins are isolated from gambir by maceration with hexane and ethyl acetate (polar, nonpolar and residual fractions). The fraction which yields the most catechins is used as the active substance in the formulation. The formulation is divided into 4 lotion formulas, namely Formula 1 with 0.5% catechins concentration, Formula 2 with 7.5% catechins concentration, Formula 3 with 1% catechins concentration, and Formula 4 without catechins substance. Physical stability test and effectiveness of sunscreen formulation are carried out on 4 lotion formulas. Physical stability tests included organoleptic observation, homogeneity, pH, and assessment of the effectiveness of sunscreen formulation by using UV-Vis Spectrophotometer.

Abstract

Stunting adalah kondisi gagal tumbuh pada anak-anak yang ditandai dengan pertumbuhan dan perkembangan fisik yang terhambat. Walaupun hasil Studi Status Gizi Indonesia (SSGI) 2021 telah menunjukkan penurunan angka stunting nasional dari 27,7% pada tahun 2019 menjadi 24,4% pada tahun 2021. Namun, angka tersebut masih dikategorikan tinggi menurut WHO (>20%). Penyuluhan ini bertujuan untuk memberikan edukasi kepada masyarakat khususnya kader Posyandu, ibu hamil, ibu menyusui dan ibu yang memiliki balita di Pekon Pampangan, Kecamtan Sekincau, Kabupaten Lampung Barat terhadap pencegahan stunting. Metode pengabdian ini adalah metode pemberdayaan masyarakat partisipatif, yaitu metode yang menekankan keterlibatan masyarakat pada rangkaian kegiatan. Kegiatan penyuluhan pencegahan stunting berjalan dengan lancar dan sukses. Evaluasi menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pengetahuan peserta. Diharapkan bahwa penyuluhan ini akan meningkatkan kesadaran masyarakat mengenai tumbuh kembang anak, sehingga dapat mencegah terjadinya stunting dan menurunkan persentase stunting di Indonesia, terutama di Pekon Pampangan, Kecamatan Sekincau, Kabupaten Lampung Barat.

Abstract

Pengetahuan merupakan hasil tahu dan terjadi ketika seseorang mengadakan penginderaan terhadap suatu objek tertentu. DAGUSIBU (Dapatkan, Gunakan, Simpan dan Buang) merupakan suatu program edukasi kesehatan yang dibuat oleh IAI dalam upaya mewujudkan Gerakan Keluarga Sadar Obat sebagai langkah konkrit meningkatkan kualitas hidup masyarakat sehingga mencapai derajat kesehatan yang setinggi-tingginya. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui tingkat pengetahuan masyarakat tentang DAGUSIBU Obat di RT.15 Kelurahan Solok Sipin Kota Jambi berdasarkan umur, pekerjaan dan pendidikan. Jenis penelitian adalah penelitian deskriptif. Populasi dari penelitian yaitu semua masyarakat yang berdomisili di RT.15 Kelurahan Solok Sipin Kota Jambi sebanyak 150 orang. Sampel yang digunakan berjumlah 30 orang. Teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan purposive sampling. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tingkat pengetahuan masyarakat yang berpengetahuan kurang berjumlah 20 responden, pengetahuan cukup berjumlah 10 responden dan pengetahuan baik berjumlah 0 responden. Berdasarkan tingkat umur, pekerjaan dan Pendidikan, responden yang berpengetahuan kurang sebesar 70.0%, 63.3%, 56.7%. Dapat disimpulkan  bahwa tingkat pengetahuan masyarakat di RT.15 Kelurahan Solok Sipin Kota Jambi kurang tentang DAGUSIBU Obat.

Abstract

Pharmaceutical services are a direct and responsible service to patients related to pharmaceutical preparations that intend to achieve definite results to improve the quality of life of patients. Patient satisfaction is an element that is often used as a benchmark in assessing the quality of service in hospitals. The purpose of this study was to find out the level of satisfaction with pharmaceutical services at the outpatient pharmacy of Sungai Dareh Hospital. Research uses quantitative methods with a cross sectional approach. The number of samples analyzed as many as 120 people were taken with random sampling techniques, data collection using questionnaires and analyzed with quantitative analysis. From the results of this study, the level of patient satisfaction with pharmaceutical services at the Outpatient Pharmacy of Sungai Dareh Hospital from the total of all dimensions with a percentage of 82.51%. In the dimension of direct evidence(Tangible) has the highest level of satisfaction with a percentage of 84.55%, the reliability dimension (Reliability) with a percentage of 82.70%, the responsiveness dimension with a percentage of 82.70%, the empathy dimension (Empaty) has the lowest satisfaction rate with a percentage of 79.49%, and the dimension of assurance (Assurance) with a percentage of 82.49%

Abstract

Kombucha fermentation transforms complex organic compounds into beneficial substances such as polyphenols, vitamins, minerals, fiber, and probiotics. Gerga orange (Citrus x aurantium L.) peel, rich in bioactive compounds with antibacterial potential, is a promising substrate for kombucha fermentation. This study aimed to develop a fermented kombucha infusion from Gerga orange peel for use in an antibacterial peel-off gel mask and to assess the impact of hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC) concentrations (2%, 3%, and 4%) on the mask's properties. Extract preparation, organoleptic evaluation, total phenolic content (TPC) analysis, and gel mask formulation were conducted. Antibacterial activity was evaluated against Propionibacterium acnes using the well-diffusion method. Kombucha fermentation increased the TPC of Gerga orange peel infusion (26.53 mgGAE/g vs 25.77 mgGAE/g), imparted a fermentation aroma, and reduced pH from 4 to 2.7. HPMC concentration significantly influenced gel texture, spreadability, drying time, and pH, while color, aroma, and homogeneity remained unaffected. Antibacterial tests showed moderate activity for Formula 1 (2% HPMC; inhibition zone: 9.25 ± 0.35 mm). Stronger antibacterial effects were observed in Formulas 2 (3% HPMC; 13.93 ± 0.49 mm) and 3 (4% HPMC; 14.25 ± 0.71 mm). Kombucha fermentation of Gerga orange peel offers an innovative method for creating antibacterial gel masks. Higher HPMC concentrations improve antibacterial efficacy and physical properties, demonstrating potential against Propionibacterium acnes.

Abstract

This community service project is titled "Fill My Plate Campaign: Increasing Knowledge and Habituation of Balanced Nutrition Patterns Among Students of SIT An Nahl Percikan Iman Jambi." The activities involved the school, including class teachers and health teachers, targeting a total of 60 students. The implementation of this community service, following the PKM scheme, was conducted over four days, from preparation to evaluation. The results of this community service activity include an increase in students' knowledge and habituation of balanced nutrition patterns, as well as the successful delivery of education on balanced nutrition through the "Fill My Plate" campaign method. This involved several activities, including the installation of posters in classrooms and the health room, distribution of flyers about "Fill My Plate," a booklet containing "Fill My Plate" guidelines and a 10-day meal cycle, presentation of materials accompanied by video screenings and the use of plate-shaped media, as well as discussions held at SDIT An Nahl Percikan Iman Jambi. Abstrak Pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini berjudul kampanye ‘isi piringku’ dalam meningkatkan pengetahuan dan pembiasaan pola gizi seimbang pada siswa Sit An Nahl Percikan Iman Jambi. Kegiatan ini melibatkan pihak Sekolah yaitu Guru Kelas dan Guru UKS dan siswa siswi sebagai sasaran sebanyak 60 orang. Pelaksanaan pengabmas dengan skema PKM dilakukan selama 3 (empat) hari mulai dari persiapan hingga evaluasi. Hasil Kegiatan pengabmas ini adalah peningkatan pengetahuan pengetahuan dan dan pembiasaan pola gizi seimbang siswa serta terlaksananya edukasi tentang gizi seimbang dengan metode kampanye isi piringku dengan beberapa tahapan kegiatan antara lain pemasangan poster di kelas dan ruang UKS, pemberian flyer tentang isi piringku, Booklet tentang isi piringku dan menu siklus 10 hari, pemaparan materi disertai pemutaran video dan media wadah piring makanku, serta diskusi yang dilakukan di SDIT An Nahl Percikan Iman Jambi.

Abstract

Gambir (Uncaria gambir (Hunter) Roxb) is a Sumatran medicinal plant that has various bioactivities, including antibacterial. This study aims to isolate endophytic fungi from gambier leaves and test the antibacterial activity of ethyl acetate extracts of fungal endophytes from gambir leaves. The fungal endophytes were isolated by inoculating the fungus obtained from gambir leaves on potato dextrose agar (PDA) media. The fungal endophytes were identified microscopically and macroscopically. Furthermore, the fungal endophytes were cultivated using rice media : aquades (100 : 110). The cultivated fungus was macerated using ethyl acetate solvent and tested using a screening test. The antibacterial activity of the ethyl acetate extract of endophytic fungi was conducted using the agar diffusion method against Gram-positive bacteria (Bacillus subtilis ATCC 6633 and Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923) and Gram-negative bacteria (Escherichia coli ATCC 25922 and Pseudomonas aeruginosa ATCC 27853). This study has revealed five fungal isolates from gambir leaves and identified the isolates as Penicillium sp 1 (0.39 g), Penicillium sp 2 (0.26 g), Neopestalotiopsis sp (0.97 g), Colletotrichum capsici (0.46 g), and Aspergillus sp (0.25 g). The ethyl acetate extracts of each fungal endophyte show the presence of phenolic compounds and have inhibition against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. The highest antibacterial activity is shown by ethyl acetate extracts of the fungal endophytes of Neopestalotiopsis sp at a concentration of 7.5% on P. aeruginosa ATCC 27853 23±3.9 mm and S. aureus ATCC 25923 14±2.5 mm. Tests on B. subtilis ATCC 6633 and E. coli ATCC 25922 with the highest inhibition zones were indicated by the ethyl acetate extracts of the fungus Aspergillus sp of 15.3±4 mm and 14±1.9 mm, respectively.

Abstract

Penggunaan obat yang tidak tepat masih menjadi masalah di masyarakat, ditandai dengan tingginya praktik swamedikasi, kesalahan membaca aturan pakai, serta pembuangan obat yang sembarangan. Kondisi ini berisiko menimbulkan resistensi antibiotik, keracunan, dan pencemaran lingkungan. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan meningkatkan pengetahuan dan kesadaran masyarakat mengenai penggunaan obat yang bijak dan rasional serta edukasi Dapatkan, Gunakan, Simpan, dan Buang (DAGUSIBU) sebagai upaya kesehatan mandiri. Metode yang digunakan adalah edukasi melalui sosialisasi interaktif, pretes–postes, dan diskusi. Kegiatan dilaksanakan pada 4 September 2025 di Kantor Lurah Sukakarya, Kecamatan Kota Baru, Kota Jambi, dengan jumlah peserta 26 orang. Materi meliputi prinsip 5 Tepat dan pedoman DAGUSIBU. Hasil postes menunjukkan peningkatan pemahaman masyarakat dibandingkan pretes. Peserta lebih mampu memahami cara menggunakan, menyimpan, dan membuang obat dengan benar. Antusiasme warga terlihat dari partisipasi aktif dalam diskusi. Kegiatan ini membuktikan bahwa keterlibatan apoteker sebagai edukator dapat meningkatkan literasi kesehatan masyarakat.

Abstract

The utilization of rhizome spices such as turmeric (Curcuma domestica) and ginger (Zingiber officinale) in the community is generally limited to culinary seasoning, whereas both have great potential as traditional beverages beneficial for health. This community service activity aimed to enhance the knowledge and skills of residents in Suka Karya Village, Jambi City, in processing rhizome spices into traditional beverages with both health and economic value. The implementation method included participatory discussions and training, conducted on September 5, 2025, at the Suka Karya Village Office with 25 participants, consisting of PKK women cadres, neighborhood heads (RT), Babinsa, village staff, and local residents. The results showed that by the end of the program, participants were able to describe the benefits of turmeric and ginger as well as practice the preparation of traditional beverages such as jamu kunyit asam and wedang jahe. In conclusion, this community empowerment program successfully improved residents’ understanding and skills in utilizing rhizome spices for health while simultaneously opening opportunities for household businesses based on local wisdom.
