Abstract

The aim of this research is to improve the gross motor skills of children aged 4–5 years through the application of the Palola circuit game at KB Ar-Rohmah I Singosari. Specifically, this study was directed to determine the process of implementing Palola circuit games as well as improving children's gross motor skills which include balance, agility, movement coordination and physical strength. This research method uses the Class Action Research (PTK) approach which is carried out in two cycles. Each cycle consists of four stages, namely planning, implementing actions, observation and reflection. The research subject was a 4–5 year old child at KB Ar-Rohmah I Singosari. Data collection techniques are carried out through observation, documentation and assessment sheets for children's gross motor abilities. Data analysis used qualitative and quantitative descriptive techniques by comparing the results of children's gross motor ability in pre-cycle, cycle I and cycle II. The research results show that the application of the Palola circuit game can improve the gross motor skills of children aged 4–5 years. This is shown by an increase in the percentage of children's gross motor skills achieved in each cycle. In pre-cycle, children's gross motor skills are in the low category. After taking action in cycle I, the child's gross motor skills have improved and are in the sufficient category. Furthermore, in cycle II there was a significant increase until it reached the good category. Thus, the Palola circuit game proved effective in improving the gross motor skills of 4–5 year old children at KB Ar-Rohmah I Singosari.

Abstract

Abstract

Patience is an important aspect of early childhood social-emotional development, as it plays a role in children's ability to regulate emotions, wait for their turn, and complete tasks. Initial observations at Al Azhar Playgroup (KB Al Azhar) indicated that most children aged 4–5 years still demonstrated impatient behavior during learning activities. This study aims to improve early childhood patience through the implementation of a mindfulness approach using storytelling media. The research employed a qualitative approach with a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design conducted in two cycles, consisting of the stages of planning, action implementation, observation, and reflection. The research subjects were 15 children aged 4–5 years at KB Al Azhar. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, while data analysis used descriptive qualitative analysis techniques. The results showed that the implementation of the mindfulness approach through storytelling media significantly improved children's patience. Children became more able to wait for their turn, regulate their emotions, follow rules, and complete activities calmly. Therefore, the mindfulness approach through storytelling media is effective as a learning strategy to develop patience in early childhood.

Abstract

This study focuses on the implementation of Gamelan learning as a medium for instilling character values in students at SDN Sukun 1 Malang. Character education is an important aspect of learning in elementary schools, aimed at shaping the personality, morals, and ethics of students. One way to apply character education is through traditional Gamelan art learning. Gamelan art not only plays a role in cultural preservation but also serves as an effective means of teaching values such as discipline, responsibility, cooperation, and perseverance. The problem addressed in this research is the lack of integration of character education in elementary school learning, necessitating an effective method through Gamelan learning to instill character values in students. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. Data collection was conducted through observation, interviews with teachers and students, and documentation of the Gamelan learning process. Data analysis was performed interactively with stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings of the research indicate that Gamelan learning has a positive impact on the formation of student character. Through regular Gamelan practice, students become more disciplined in participating in activities, demonstrate responsibility for the musical instruments used, and are able to cooperate in creating musical harmony. Additionally, Gamelan learning also enhances students' self-confidence and love for local culture. This learning not only functions as a means of cultural preservation but also helps shape students' personalities holistically.
