Abstract

This research was conducted at PT. XYZ, a company that manufactures carbon rods, by applying the Six Sigma method using the DMAIC and FMEA approaches. The data is taken from production results during the period April 2024 to March 2025, which shows an average defect rate of 4.9%. The initial stage of the research begins with identifying critical to quality (CTQ), which is the need for high-quality carbon rod products that are able to meet customer demand consistently. Process mapping and quality performance calculation were carried out using the Six Sigma method, which resulted in a DPMO value of 6,997 and a sigma level of 3.96. These results show that the production process needs to be improved. The main causes of defects are analyzed using a cause-and-effect diagram based on five types of defects, namely fracture, chipping, cracking, perforation, and tilted position, which are influenced by human factors, machines, methods, and working environments. through FMEA analysis, it was found that the causes of failure with the highest FRPN values were found, such as engine speed that was too high, cleanliness of machinery and other production equipment that is not observed or neglected, and errors in engine adjustment. Proposed improvements are carried out with a Kaizen approach through 5S and five M-checklists, and are implemented in the form of SOPs and checksheets. As a result, the defect rate was successfully reduced from 4.9% to 3.5%.

Abstract

Abstract

The advancement of digitalization and automation has accelerated production processes, but often overlooks human factors, thereby increasing ergonomic risks such as musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) among production workers. This study was conducted at a technology industry company in Cakung, East Jakarta, focusing on production workers identified as having MSDs risks through direct observation. The novelty of this research lies in the use of four methods in analyzing work activities to determine the dominant risk factors through the selection of the highest scores, compared to other studies that tend to use one to two methods for analysis. The objective of this research is to determine the highest risk level from four types of work activities using four methods. Data collection methods include observation, the Nordic Body Map (NBM) questionnaire, and photograph documentation of work activities. Data analysis utilized Rapid Entire Body Assessment (REBA), Workplace Ergonomic Risk Assessment (WERA), and Ovako Working Posture Analysis System (OWAS). The questionnaire results indicate the highest complaints with very strong pain in the back (14%), waist (13%), buttocks (8%), lower neck (7%), right upper arm (6%), right wrist (6%), and left thigh (6%). The work activity analysis yielded risk scores: lifting product (REBA 9, WERA 34, OWAS 3), assembly (REBA 5, WERA 36, OWAS 1), labeling (REBA 4, WERA 33, OWAS 2), and final packing (REBA 10, WERA 45, OWAS 2). The conclusion in this study is that the work activities of lifting products and final packing pose the highest ergonomic risks and require immediate intervention to prevent ongoing musculoskeletal disorders.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the influence of Human Resource Research and Development (HR R&D) on the performance of building management at Menara Kanaya, Nuansa Cilangkap, using the Balanced Scorecard (BSC) approach and Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS). Data were collected from 215 respondents consisting of building managers, operational staff, and residents through questionnaires, field observations, and short interviews. The BSC assessment shows that the overall management performance is at a moderately good level, with the highest score in the Learning and Growth perspective (3.4), followed by Customer (3.0), Internal Process (2.9), and Financial (2.8). SEM-PLS analysis indicates that HR R&D has a significant positive effect on the Financial perspective (β = 0.896; p = 0.000) and Internal Process perspective (β = 0.479; p = 0.000), but does not significantly influence the Customer perspective. These findings highlight that training and development enhance operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness, yet the improvements are not directly perceived by residents. Overall, the study confirms that HR development plays a strategic role in improving building management performance and that the Balanced Scorecard serves as an effective framework for evaluating organizational performance in public service facilities.

Abstract

Indonesia’s cement manufacturing industry is currently in oversupply. According to Businesswire – A subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway – Indonesia’s cement industry is currently navigating a structural imbalance marked by oversupply, this makes production planning very important to mitigate overproduction in the future. This journal collaborates various forecasting methods and machine learning with production planning. Machine learning is one of the technological breakthroughs of the 20th century. If used correctly, machine learning can be very beneficial for production planning combined with various forecasting methods. Historical data are used as reference to forecast into the future. Based on the test results, Decomposition method is the best forecasting method in this case. The output of the forecast is a business intelligence dashboard that supports decision makers in strategic planning.
