Abstract

The purpose of study was to determine the potential leaf extract Pluchea indica L at broiler in lowering cholesterol, as well as the exact time of administration so that the plant can be used as an alternative to veterinary medicinal plants without any negative effect on productivity. The experimental design used was a complete randomized design (CRD) consisting of 4 treatments with 6 replicates, each occupied by 4 broilers. P1 treatment was leaf extract Pluchea indica L for 3 weeks starting at the age of 1 week, P2 treatment was leaf extract Pluchea indica L for 2 weeks starting at the age of 2 week, P3 treatment was leaf extract Pluchea indica L for 1 weeks starting at the age of 3 week, and P4 treatment without leaf extract Pluchea indica L for maintenance. Examination of the blood cholesterol level was done through a blood sample from the brachial vein any chickens taken at random to represent each repeat unit during 35 day old chicks. Experimental data processed by analysis of variance and if there is a treatment effect followed by Duncan's multiple range test. The results showed that there are significant leaf extract Pluchea indica L to total cholesterol, HDL, and LDL blood broiler. P1 treatment is beluntas leaf extract for 3 weeks starting at the age of 1 week produced a total content of cholesterol (156 mg / dl), HDL (44 mg / dl), and LDL (144 mg / dl) of blood lowest broiler. Abstract

The research objective is to compare the metabolism energy of palm kernel cake (80%) and rice bran (20%) mix fermentation product with the same unfermented product. To compare is used Student-t test. Determination and procedure of metabolism energy refers to Sibbald and Morse (1983) developed method. The results showed that the average metabolism energy content of palm kernel cake (80%) and rice bran (20%) mix fermentation product (2149,33 ±24,90) significantly different (P<0,05) higher than palm kernel cake (80%) and rice bran (20%) mix unfermented product (1836,04 a±19.28) or an increase of 17,06%. Abstract

The study was conducted at the Laboratory of Department of Animal Husbandry and Animal Cage, Lampung State Polytechnic. Object of study was fermented a mixture of palm kernel cake (PKC) and cassava (C), and a mixture of palm kernel cake (PKC) cassava byproduct (CBP) then to broilers applied. Fermentation research designed using completely randomized design factorial 2x2x6. The first factor was type of mold (Trichoderma viride and Aspergillus niger), a mixture of both of the second factor (PKC versus C and PKC versus CBP), and the third factor of mixture balance (100% PKC : 0% C or CBP, 80% PKC : 20% C or CBP, 60% PKC : 40% C or CBP, 40% PKC : 60% C or CBP, 20% PKC : 80% C or CBP, serta 0% PKC : 100% C or CBP). The results was applied to the broiler, completely randomized design with a 4x4 factorial pattern, the first kind of fermented best for each type of mold and the mixture of substances, the second factor in the level of use of fermented feed, namely 0, 10, 20, and 30%. The results of fermentation balance best mix: a) Trichoderma viride + PKC(60%) + C(40%) b) Trichoderma viride + PKC(80%) + CBP(20%), c) Aspergillus niger + PKC(60 %) + C (40%), d) Aspergillus niger + PKC(80%) + CBP(20%). Application results in broilers, namely: a) the use of a mixture of fermented counterpart [Trichoderma viride + PKC(60%) + C(40%)] with a level of 10% resulted in body weight (1342,67g), feed conversion (1,79), carcass weight (989,00) is the best, b) the use a mixture of fermented counterpart [Trichoderma viride + PKC(80%) + CBP(20%)] with a level of 20% resulted in a body weight (1334.67 g), feed conversion ratio (1,80), carcass weight (989,00 g) is the best, c) the use of a mixture of fermented counterpart [Aspergillus niger + PKC(60%) + C(40%)] with a level of 10% resulted in body weight (1408,67 g), feed conversion ratio (1,71), carcass weight (952,00 g) is the best, d) the use of a mixture of fermented counterpart [Aspergillus niger + PKC(80%) + CBP(20%)] with a level of 10% resulted in body weight (1357,00 g), feed conversion (1,77), carcass weight (923,00) is the best. Abstract

Efforts that can be taken in community welfare and development programs are the fulfillment of thequality and quantity of animal protein. An alternative to meet the needs of meat/animal protein is fromducks. However, in reality the maintenance of ducks often experiences problems with the length ofharvest and the quality of meat that contains a lot of cholesterol, and the mortality of livestock is veryhigh so that the use of banana peels is expected to increase the intestinal microflora and immunity ofducks and can reduce cholesterol levels of duck meat, so that productivity increases. The purpose ofthe community service program engaged in agriculture-food using banana peels is to pioneer theformation of SMEs engaged in the production of low-cholesterol ducks, develop a pilot business forlow-cholesterol duck products using banana peels, and apply various innovations and findings relatedto the use of banana peels. so that it can be more easily applied by society and industry. The result ofthe extension and mentoring activities was an increase in understanding and application of rationformulations by partner duck farmers. In addition, increasing the production and welfare of partnerduck farmers in Kerawan Sari Village, South Lampung Regency.

Abstract

Salah satu sumber energi terbarukan adalah biomassa. Biomassa merupakan bahan organik yang umumnya berasal dari tanaman. Briket bioarang merupakan bahan bakar padat dan berasal dari biomassa yang diarangkan terlebih dahulu. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji pengaruh metode pengarangan dan ukuran partikel terhadap kualitas briket.  Penelitian ini menggunakan metode pengarangan torefaksi pada suhu 200°C, 300°C dan pengarangan manual. Ukuran partikel arang divariasikan 20 dan 40 mesh. Parameter yang uji adalah kadar air, nilai kalor, kadar karbon terikat, kadar zat menguap, kadar abu, densitas dan laju pembakaran. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan tipe pengarangan torefaksi mampu meningkatkan kualitas briket melalui peningkatan nilai kalor, kadar karbon terikat dan menurunkan  kadar air serta zat menguap serta dihasilkannya produk asap cair sebanyak 48,5%. Kualitas briket hasil pengarangan torefaksi suhu 3000°C ukuran arang 20 mesh memenuhi mutu I SNI 01-6235-2000 dengan nilai kalor, kadar air masing-masing adalah 6841 kal/g, 3,52 % dan kadar karbon terikat, zat menguap, abu, densitas serta laju pembakaran masing-masing adalah 50,06%, 37,59%,  8,13%,  1,71 g/cm3, 0,076 g/menit

Abstract

Susu merupakan sumber gizi penting bagi anakan ternak dan manusia, namun usaha peternakan susu kambing sering menghadapi kendala dalam hal pemasaran akibat masa simpan susu segar yang terbatas. Kelompok Tani Ternak di Kota Metro, yang memiliki 50 ekor kambing dengan 20 ekor dalam masa laktasi dan produksi susu harian sebesar 15 liter/hari, berpotensi mengembangkan usaha pengolahan susu cair menjadi susu bubuk. Untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan dalam pengolahan susu, diadakan penyuluhan dan pelatihan bagi anggota Kelompok Tani Ternak di Kota Metro. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan dengan metode penyuluhan, diskusi, dan praktik teknis. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan dalam pemahaman peserta, dengan skor evaluasi naik dari 50 menjadi 77. Pelatihan ini bertujuan untuk menciptakan produk susu bubuk yang aman dan berkualitas, sekaligus meningkatkan omzet serta keberlanjutan usaha. Program ini diharapkan tidak hanya memberikan manfaat bagi Kelompok Tani Ternak di Kota Metro, tetapi juga bagi masyarakat sekitar dalam menciptakan lapangan kerja baru dan mendukung perekonomian lokal. Keterampilan yang diperoleh diharapkan mampu mengurangi ketergantungan pada penjualan susu segar dan membuka peluang diversifikasi produk.

Abstract

West Lampung Regency is one of the coffee-producing centers in Lampung Province. This research was conducted in three sub-districts located in West Lampung Regency, namely Sumber Jaya District, Way Tenong District, and Air Hitam District. This research was conducted in three farmer groups that have cultivated organic robusta coffee, namely the Ampera farmer group, the Langgeng Mulyo farmer group, and the BUMP Gapoktan Lampung Robusta farmer group. The purpose of this study was to examine farmers' perceptions of organic robusta coffee cultivation innovations in West Lampung Regency. The research method was carried out using primary data and secondary data. Data analysis was carried out descriptively quantitatively with the help of tabulation analysis tools. Study results showed that farmers' perceptions of organic robusta coffee cultivation innovations as seen from five characteristic aspects were classified as high or good with a yield value of 76 percent. Keywords: perception, innovation, organic coffee.

Abstract

OPEFB has low biodegradability so its utilization is very limited. Oyster mushrooms are mushrooms that are capable of producing enzymes capable of degrading cellulose, hemicellulose, and lignin contained in) OPEFB. The research objective was to determine the effect of the composition of the growing media on the production of oyster mushrooms and changes in the composition of the resulting baglog waste. The study was carried out with the combination treatment of rubber wood and OPEFB, with levels: (a) 100% rubber wood powder and 0% OPEFB, (b) 75% rubber wood powder and 25% OPEFB, (c) 50% rubber wood powder and OPEFB 50%, (d) 25% rubber wood powder and 75% OPEFB, (e) 0% rubber wood powder and 100% OPEFB. Observation of raw material composition, mycelia growth, wet weight of the fungus, biological efficiency, changes in lignin content, cellulose, and hemicellulose before and after being used as a growing medium for oyster mushrooms. The results showed that the fastest mycelial growth occurred in the use of 100% OPEFB media. The highest oyster mushroom production occurred in the media 100% rubber sawdust. The higher the wet weight of the oyster mushrooms produced, the less the weight of the baglog waste produced. The oyster mushroom fermentation process for 60 days was able to reduce the content of 3.39% cellulose, 11.01% hemicellulose, and 1.98% lignin. Keywords: OPEFB, Oyster Mushroom, Cellulose, Hemicellulose, Lignin
