Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of principal leadership in improving the quality of teacher resources at State Junior High School 17 Jambi City, including leadership roles, inhibiting factors, and implemented strategies. This research employed a qualitative approach conducted at State Junior High School 17 Jambi City. Data were collected through documentation techniques, focusing on teachers’ scientific papers as indicators of teacher resource quality improvement. Data analysis was carried out through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that principal leadership plays a crucial role in enhancing teacher resource quality through functions as a policy maker, motivator, facilitator, and administrator. However, several inhibiting factors were identified, such as differences in teachers’ characteristics, limited technological competence, non-linear academic backgrounds, excessive workloads, lack of training participation, inadequate facilities, and low commitment among some teachers. To address these challenges, the principal implemented various strategies, including encouraging teachers to participate in training programs, seminars, and workshops, strengthening professional and personal competencies, recruiting teachers based on appropriate qualifications, and improving educational facilities and infrastructure. The study concludes that effective and strategic principal leadership has significant implications for improving teacher resource quality and contributes positively to the enhancement of learning quality and overall school performance

Abstract

Purpose of the study: The aim of this study was to determine whether or not the Realistic Mathematics Education approach had an influence on students' mathematics learning outcomes. Methodology: This study is a quasi-experimental study using a nonequivalent control group design consisting of 38 students in the experimental class and 35 students in the control class with a purposive sampling technique. The data collection technique used was a pretest and posttest. Main Findings: The student learning outcomes test after being given treatment was analyzed using descriptive statistical analysis and inferential statistical analysis. The results showed a difference between the mathematics learning outcomes of students in the experimental class and students in the control class with tcount > ttable (tcount = 1.91; ttable = 1.666). Based on this, it can be concluded that there is an influence of the Realistic Mathematics Education approach on student learning outcomes. Novelty/Originality of this study: This study provides empirical evidence on the effectiveness of the Realistic Mathematics Education approach through a quasi-experimental, non-equivalent control group design at the classroom level. This study expands existing knowledge by demonstrating measurable differences in learning outcomes using pre-test and post-test analyses, thus strengthening the practical evidence base for implementing Realistic Mathematics Education in real-world learning environments.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the management of the madrasah principal in improving the culture of interest in reading the Qur'an at Madrasah Aliyah Swasta Ainul Yaqin, Jambi City, including the supporting factors, inhibiting factors, and the solutions implemented. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive method through observation, interviews, and documentation, with research subjects consisting of the madrasah principal, teachers, and students. The results of the study indicate that the management of the madrasah principal is carried out through planning, organizing, implementing, and supervising, which are realized in regular tadarus programs and the habituation of reading the Qur'an before learning activities. Supporting factors include teacher commitment, foundation support, and a religious environment, while inhibiting factors include limited human resources and lack of teacher understanding. The solutions implemented include training, guidance, and collaboration with religious institutions, so that it can improve the culture of interest in reading the Qur'an and shape the religious character of students.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aims to describe the profile of students' basic mathematical concepts in Solving problems reviewed from learning readiness. The background of this research is based on the importance of mastering basic mathematical concepts as the foundation for critical thinking and problem solving. But in reality, there are still many students who have not mastered the concept well. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach with 3 research subjects. Data collection techniques include observation, learning readiness questionnaires, diagnostic tests, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study show that students with excellent learning readiness are able to understand and apply basic mathematical concepts appropriately, although there are still shortcomings in the use of formal terms. Students with good learning readiness have sufficient numeracy skills, but lack in explaining concepts verbally. Meanwhile, students with learning readiness have quite a bit of difficulty in understanding and solving most of the questions. These findings show that learning readiness plays an important role in determining the quality of students' mastery of basic mathematical concepts. Therefore, teachers need to identify students' learning readiness to design appropriate learning to improve the understanding of mathematical concepts optimally. ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan profil konsep dasar matematika siswa dalam Menyelesaikan soal ditinjau dari kesiapan belajar. Latar belakang penelitian ini didasarkan pada pentingnya penguasaan konsep dasar matematika sebagai fondasi berpikir kritis dan pemecahan masalah. Namun pada kenyataannya masih banyak siswa yang belum menguasai konsep tersebut dengan baik. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif dengan 3 orng subjek penelitian. Teknik pengumpulan data meliputi observasi, angket kesiapan belajar, tes diagnostik, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan siswa dengan kesiapan belajar sangat baik mampu memahami dan menerapkan konsep dasar matematika secara tepat, meskipun masih terdapat kekurangan dalam penggunaan istilah formal. Siswa dengan kesiapan belajar baik memiliki kemampuan berhitung yang cukup, tetapi kurang dalam menjelaskan konsep secara verbal. Sementara itu, siswa dengan kesiapan belajar cukup mengalami kesulitan dalam memahami dan menyelesaikan sebagian besar soal. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa kesiapan belajar berperan penting dalam menentukan kualitas penguasaan konsep dasar matematika siswa. Oleh karena itu, guru perlu mengidentifikasi kesiapan belajar siswa untuk merancang pembelajaran yang sesuai guna meningkatkan pemahaman konsep matematika secara optimal.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the management of guidance and counseling in addressing juvenile delinquency among eighth-grade students at SMP Islam Al-Falah. The study is grounded in management theory, which includes planning, organizing, implementation, and supervision, as well as guidance and counseling theory as a support service for developing students’ potential and resolving their personal and social problems. This research employed a qualitative approach using a descriptive method. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, while data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings revealed that guidance and counseling management had been implemented through preventive, repressive, and curative programs in dealing with various forms of student delinquency, such as tardiness, violations of school regulations, and other deviant behaviors. The causes of delinquency were influenced by internal and external factors, including lack of parental supervision and negative peer environments. The main obstacles included limited counseling service time, a large number of students, and low student awareness of discipline. To address these issues, the school strengthened counseling services, enhanced collaboration with parents, and implemented character-building programs. Therefore, guidance and counseling management plays a strategic role in minimizing student delinquency despite facing several implementation challenges.
