Abstract

AbstractThe purpose of this Classroom Action Research was to improve students’ ability and participation in writing descriptive text through Collaborative Writing Strategy. The research subjects were 38 students from 10 Social-A at Saint Paul Senior High School Pontianak. The researcher emphasized the practice of group discussion and peer-assessment among students. The study showed that the implementation of Collaborative Writing Strategy gave positive implication which effected on learning improvement. Activities in the strategy improved students’ ability and participation in writing descriptive text. Group discussion and peer assessment helped students to generate, organize, and develop their ideas well after working with their group collaboratively. Collaborative Writing Strategy also encouraged students to get engaged more in teaching learning activities. Moreover, students also improved their writing score, which indicated that learning process have run well and have improved individual performance.         Keywords: Collaborative Writing, Descriptive Text, dan  Writing Ability

Abstract

Abstract: The purpose of this research is to know whether the bamboo dance method is effective or not in teaching reading comprehension on descriptive text  to the the Tenth Grade Students of SMA Negeri 6 Pontianak in Academic Year 2014/2015. The method of this research is quantitative research in quasi-experimental research. The subject of this research were the tenth grade students of SMA Negeri 6 Pontianak in Academic Year 2014/2015 which divided into two groups, experimental group that consist of 50 students and control which are consist of 50 students. The research findings showed that bamboo dance method were very effective in teaching reading comprehension on descriptive text to the Tenth Grade Students of SMA Negeri 6 Pontianak in Academic Year 2014/2015. Keyword: Bamboo Dance Method, Reading Comprehension, Descriptive Text. Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah metode bamboo dance efektif atau tidak untuk diterapkan di dalam pengajaran membaca komprehensif teks deskriptif dalam mata pelajaran Bahasa Inggris pada siswa kelas 10 SMAN 06 Pontianak tahun ajaran 2014/2015. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah quasi-eksperimen. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas 10 SMA Negeri 6 Pontianak tahun ajaran 2014/2015 yang mana dibagi kedalam dua grup, eksperimental grup yang terdiri dari 50 siswa dan kontrol grup yang juga terdiri dari 50 siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa metode bamboo dance sangat efektif dalam pengajaran membaca komprehensif teks deskriptif pada siswa kelas 10 SMA Negeri 6 Pontianak tahun ajaran 2014/2015. Kata Kunci: Metode Bamboo Dance, Membaca Komprehensif, Teks Deskriptif.

Abstract

Abstract: This research was conducted to prove how this technique could affect the students’ mastery in Adjective Order. This research is a Pre-Experimental research with the students of SMPN 10 Pontianak as the sample. The result of this research showed that this technique was effective to the students’ mastery in Adjective Order. This was proven by the computation of the t-value which was higher than the t-table, which means this technique was effective. Thus, this technique affected the students’ mastery in Adjective Order. This technique is recommended to be used in not only teaching writing, but also teaching reading and vocabulary.Keywords: Color-coded writing, adjectives, adjective order.

Abstract

This study explores the development of an Android-based mobile game application, "Tebak Kata Inggris," designed to enhance English vocabulary learning for elementary students at Luqman Al-Hakim Qur'an-Based Integral Elementary School in Pontianak. Addressing the cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects of education, the research utilizes the MIT App Inventor software to create an engaging, user-friendly educational tool. The game aims to increase student motivation, engagement, and vocabulary proficiency by providing an interactive learning experience that can be accessed at school, home, or play areas. The findings suggest that mobile educational games can effectively supplement traditional teaching methods, making English learning more appealing and accessible for young learners. This approach aligns with the school's mission to develop linguistic competence alongside character education, leveraging technology to meet educational objectives more effectively.
