Abstract

The Snakes and Ladders Game is a civic education learning media designed for vocational high school students to promote understanding and social cohesion among diverse populations. This innovative approach aims to enhance understanding through educational games that facilitate discussions about cultural, racial, ethnic, and religious diversity. This research aims to determine the effectiveness, feasibility and validity of the Snakes and Ladders learning program on diverse content for Class XI Vocational Schools in the context of Bhinneka Tunggal Ika. The ADDIE model is applied in this research approach. The population in the study were 214 students of grade XI at SMK Saraswati. While the sample in this study was one class with 30 students. The instruments used in this research were a questionnaire on the practicality of teacher and student responses, a material expert validation questionnaire, a media expert validation questionnaire, and an exam in the form of questions related to the material. Media expert validators got a score of 78.3%, material expert validators got a score of 82.8%, and potential user validators got a score of 75.5 in this snakes and ladders media development research. The average percentage score obtained by learning material experts was 78.3%, meeting the requirements very well. In this study, the new idea is to use snakes and ladders which are played by the students themselves. The development of this learning media can improve students' understanding in following PPKn learning. The learning media used is the snake and ladder media. Teachers are expected to use interesting learning media to increase students' learning motivation.

Abstract

This research aims to find out whether the development of Ispring Suite-based interactive learning media can increase students' interest in learning in Civics learning subjects at SMK N 1 Kaliwungu. This type of research uses Research and Development (R&D) development with the ADDIE development model. The research results showed that the learning media developed was declared suitable for use with material expert validation test results of 90% and media expert validation test results of 83%. The results of the analysis of data on learning interest of class After using the media, there were 4 students (16%) in the moderate category, 12 students (48%) in the high category and 9 students (36%) in the very high category. There is no longer any interest in learning from students in the low category.

Abstract

Background - This research shows that social media has a lot of potential to help young people learn about local wisdom. Because they are easily accessible, interactive and relevant to lifestyles, social media platforms such as Instagram, TikTok and YouTube are favorites of teenagers. Purpose - This research employs a qualitative methodology that uses a descriptive-exploratory approach. The descriptive-exploratory approach involves researchers collecting descriptive data, such as characteristics, behaviors, or experiences of participants, and then exploring existing relationships or patterns. Basic information about the participants or research sample typically includes selecting individuals who have experiences or characteristics related to the research topic, which can be chosen purposively or based on specific criteria, allowing for a deeper understanding of the phenomenon being studied. The analysis might explore the effectiveness of these platforms in fostering positive character traits, such as respect, honesty, and community engagement, and how they align with traditional values in the context of the digital era. Findings - The results show that innovative and engaging content is preferred over conventional methods. Strong visual content, in-depth stories, and those that bring additional value, such as entertainment or new knowledge, attract the attention of the younger generation. Social media can serve as a learning and inspiration tool for local cultural preservation through approaches such as collaboration with content creators, adaptation of trends, and real-time interaction. This study suggests a comprehensive strategy to support the use of social media to sustain local wisdom in the digital era. Conclusions - This study concludes that social media has a strategic role in promoting and preserving local wisdom among youth, provided the content is creative, value-driven, and aligned with current digital trends. The integration of local values into popular formats can build cultural awareness and character education in a more relatable and sustainable way for the younger generation. Novelty/Originality/Value - The novelty of this study lies in its focus on the intersection between digital culture and traditional values, specifically examining how youth-centered content strategies on platforms like TikTok and Instagram can effectively transmit and preserve local wisdom. Unlike prior studies that treat social media merely as a communication tool, this research positions it as an active space for cultural education and character development among digital-native generations.

Abstract

Jaran Kepang is widely recognized as a form of traditional cultural heritage and community entertainment; however, its function as a medium for character education within art communities has not been sufficiently explored. In fact, traditional performance practices contain educational values that contribute to the formation of individual and social character, particularly among young community members. This study aims to examine the presentation of Rukun Tri Santoso and to identify the character education values embedded in its performance and community activities. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed. Data were collected through participatory observation of performances, in-depth interviews with the community leader, the handler, six dancers, four gamelan musicians, and three supporting members, as well as documentation analysis. Data validity was ensured through source triangulation and member checking. The findings indicate that the Jaran Kepang performance integrates dance movements, gamelan accompaniment, costumes, properties, and performance procedures that are rich in symbolic meanings. These elements reflect character values such as discipline, responsibility, teamwork, mutual cooperation (gotong royong), religiosity, respect, and appreciation of local culture. Importantly, these values are not only manifested during public performances but are consistently internalized throughout rehearsal processes, role distribution, and daily social interactions among paguyuban members. In conclusion, Jaran Kepang functions as an informal, community-based character education agent through embodied cultural practices. This study demonstrates has strong potential as a local wisdom based medium for character education that can be applied in both formal and non-formal educational contexts, particularly in supporting cultural preservation and youth character development.

Abstract

Technological advancements and evolving learning methods demand innovation in education, particularly to enhancing student engagement and learning outcomes in the subjects of Pancasila and Civic Education. This study aims to improve student activity and learning outcomes by implementing the inquiry method assisted by audiovisual media. The research employed a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design conducted in two cycles, each consisting of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection phases. The research subjects were 36 students from Class XI Welding Engineering at State Vocational High School 3 Salatiga. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, and tests. The results showed that in the pre-cycle stage, only 16.66% of students were actively involved in the learning process, and 41.7% achieved a score of ≥ 75. In Cycle I, student engagement increased to 75.6%, and learning mastery rose to 58.3%. In Cycle II, student activity reached 90.9%, with learning mastery improving significantly to 91.6%. The findings conclude that the inquiry method supported by audio-visual media is effective in enhancing student engagement, understanding, and academic performance. Abstract

Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi peran pembekalan Civic with Society dalam memperkuat karakter dan literasi kewarganegaraan di kalangan mahasiswa. Sebagai calon pemimpin dan agen perubahan, mahasiswa perlu mengembangkan rasa tanggung jawab yang kuat, partisipasi aktif, dan kesadaran akan peran mereka dalam masyarakat serta sistem demokrasi. Kegiatan ini menekankan pentingnya mengintegrasikan pendidikan kewarganegaraan ke dalam pendidikan tinggi untuk membekali mahasiswa dengan pengetahuan dan keterampilan yang diperlukan untuk memberikan kontribusi positif kepada komunitas dan bangsa. Kegiatan ini dilakukan melalui berbagai kegiatan, termasuk diskusi, seminar, program pengabdian masyarakat, dan simulasi, yang bertujuan untuk membangun pemahaman yang lebih dalam tentang nilai-nilai kewarganegaraan seperti demokrasi, keadilan, dan hak asasi manusia. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa partisipasi dalam kegiatan ini secara signifikan meningkatkan karakter mahasiswa, seperti empati, tanggung jawab, dan kemampuan berpikir kritis, serta meningkatkan literasi mereka dalam isu-isu kewarganegaraan, termasuk pengetahuan tentang hak, kewajiban, dan pentingnya keterlibatan politik aktif. Kesimpulannya, program pembekalan Civic with Society terbukti menjadi strategi yang efektif dalam memperkuat karakter dan literasi kewarganegaraan mahasiswa. Dengan mendorong partisipasi aktif dan memberikan pemahaman yang lebih mendalam tentang peran mereka sebagai warga negara yang bertanggung jawab, program ini berkontribusi pada pembangunan masyarakat yang demokratis dan adil, dimana mahasiswa siap untuk membuat keputusan yang bijak dan berkontribusi pada pembangunan nasional.
