Hubungan Karakteristik Individu Dengan Perilaku Social Distancing Sebagai Upaya Pencegahan COVID-19 Pada Dewasa Muda di Kota Pekanbaru Tyagita Widya Sari; Ririn Mayriska

Abstract

Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a disease that has never been previously identified in humans. The case is increasingly acclaimed on a daily basis around the world, including in Indonesia. At the Riau Province level, 31,397 confirmed cases of COVID-19 have been reported from 12 districts/cities on February 28, 2021 and the Pekanbaru city is the most abundant COVID-19 case report in the Riau province. By the increasing number of cases of COVID-19, World Health Organization (WHO) issued a policy so that people can carry out social distancing, which is a very necessary program to break the chain of COVID-19 transmission. However, some people in Indonesia still consider social distancing as only an ordinary recommendation so there are still many people who do not apply social distancing. Meanwhile social distancing violations are mainly made by a group of young adults who are 18 to 25 years of age. The objective of this study was to determine the correlation of individual characteristics and social distancing behavior as COVID-19 prevention effort on young adults in Pekanbaru City 2021. This research used an analytic observational with a cross sectional study design. This research was conducted on a population of young adults in Pekanbaru City on June 2021. The sampling technique was carried out by cluster sampling with a sample size of 440 respondents. Data analysis was conducted through chi square's test and spearman's correlation test for p-value and coefficient correlation (r). There was a significant correlation between gender (p-value = 0.047) and social distancing behavior. However, there were no significant correlation between education level (p-value = 0.413) and employment status (p-value = 1.000) and social distancing behavior. The individual characteristics which was correlate with social distancing behavior is gender, while education level and employment status have no correlation with social distancing behavior as COVID-19 prevention effort on young adults in Pekanbaru City 2021.

Abstract

Due to the continued increase in the incidence of COVID-19, the Indonesian government adopted a policy to socialize the mask wearing behavior to reduce and break the chain of transmission of COVID-19. However, there are still many people in Indonesia who do not wear masks. Most of Pekanbaru's people who often violate health protocols are dominated by young adults, namely those aged 18-25 years, where they have various reasons for not wearing masks. The objective of this study was to determine the correlation of individual characteristics and mask wearing behavior as COVID-19 prevention effort on young adults in Pekanbaru City 2021. This research used an analytic observational with a cross sectional study design. This research was conducted on a population of young adults in Pekanbaru City on June 2021. The sampling technique was carried out by cluster sampling with a sample size of 440 respondents. Data analysis was conducted through chi square's test and spearman's correlation test for p-value and coefficient correlation (r). There were no significant correlation between gender variable (p-value 0,436), education level variable (p-value 0,538), and employment status variable (p-value 1,000) and mask wearing behavior as COVID-19 prevention effort on young adults in Pekanbaru City 2021. The individual characteristics (gender, education level, and employment status) have no correlation with mask wearing behavior as COVID-19 prevention effort on young adults in Pekanbaru City 2021.

By the increasing number of cases of COVID-19, The Indonesian government is socializing one of the measures to prevent the transmission of COVID-19 which is in accordance with WHO recommendations, namely by washing hands using soap and running water or using hand sanitizer. However, some people in Indonesia still consider hand washing behavior as an ordinary recommendation so there are still many people who do not apply hand washing behavior. Meanwhile shand washing behavior violations are mainly made by a group of young adults who are 18 to 25 years of age. The objective of this study was to determine the correlation of individual characteristics and hand washing behavior as COVID-19 prevention effort on young adults in Pekanbaru City 2021. This research used an analytic observational with a cross sectional study design. This research was conducted on a population of young adults in Pekanbaru City on June 2021. The sampling technique was carried out by cluster sampling with a sample size of 440 respondents. Data analysis was conducted through chi square's test and spearman's correlation test for p-value and coefficient correlation (r). There was a significant correlation between gender (p-value = 0.022) and hand washing behavior. However, there were no significant correlation between latest education level (p-value = 0.213) and employment status (p-value = 0.118) and hand washing behavior. The individual characteristics which was correlate with hand washing behavior is gender, while latest education level and employment status have no correlation with hand washing behavior as COVID-19 prevention effort on young adults in Pekanbaru City 2021.

Abstract

Diarrhea is a change in shape and consistency of soft stools until it melt and increases the frequency of defecation more than usual, which is 3 or more time a day. Diarrhea is a major cause of pain and death in children. Diarrhea can be influenced by several factor, including clean water and drinking water sources. Clean water and drinking water sources that do not meet the requirements can increase the risk for people with diarrhea in the community. Sidomulyo Health Center has the fifth highest incidence of diarrhea in children of 21 health center in Pekanbaru City in 2017 as many as 188 cases (8,33%). The objective of this study was to determine the relationship between clean water and drinking water sources with diarrhea of toddler in Sidomulyo Health Center Pekanbaru. This research used an analytic observational with a cross sectional study design. This research was conducted on a population of toddler in Pekanbaru City on August to September 2018. The sampling technique was carried out by accidental sampling with a sample size of 51 respondents. Data analysis was conducted through chi square's test for p-value. There was no relationship between clean water sources (p-value = 0.219) and drinking water sources (p-value = 0.439) with diarrhea of toddler. Clean water and drinking water sources are not related with diarrhea of toddler in Sidomulyo Health Center Pekanbaru.
