Abstract

Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) has become an increasingly serious public health issue, with the number of patients continuously increasing year by year and its spread becoming more widespread. To break the chain of transmission, DHF prevention strategies play a crucial role. Currently, low community participation in DHF prevention programs through the 3M Plus approach remains a major obstacle, caused by several factors including predisposing factors such as knowledge, attitudes, beliefs, and values; enabling factors such as physical environmental conditions and availability of facilities and infrastructure; and reinforcing factors in the form of healthcare workers' roles. This study aims to analyze the relationship between knowledge and attitudes with DHF prevention behavior. The research was conducted using an analytical approach with a cross-sectional design. The research population consisted of all household heads who permanently reside in RT 03 RW 01 Alam Jaya Village, totaling 76 respondents. The sampling technique applied was total sampling namely 76 respondents. Data analysis used the chi-square test with a significance level of 5%. Based on research findings, no relationship was found between knowledge and DHF prevention behavior (p-value = 0.659) nor between attitudes and DHF prevention behavior (p-value = 0.846). The main conclusion of this study states that there is no correlation between knowledge and attitudes with DHF prevention behavior. Therefore, it is recommended that future research explore other factors that influence DHF prevention behavior.

Abstract

Hypertension is a prevalent chronic health condition and a major risk factor for cardiovascular disease and chronic kidney disease. Persistent elevation of blood pressure can lead to progressive damage to blood vessels and glomeruli through hemodynamic and structural mechanisms, ultimately resulting in a decline in the glomerular filtration rate (GFR). In addition to blood pressure levels, the duration of hypertension plays a crucial role in determining the extent of renal damage over time. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between blood pressure, duration of hypertension, and GFR. A quantitative study with a cross-sectional design was conducted involving 103 patients with hypertension. Data were obtained from medical records, including systolic and diastolic blood pressure, duration of hypertension, and GFR values, and were analyzed using Spearman’s correlation test. The results showed that systolic blood pressure was significantly associated with GFR (p < 0.05), with a weak negative correlation, while diastolic blood pressure showed no significant association. The duration of hypertension was also significantly associated with GFR. In conclusion, systolic blood pressure and the duration of hypertension influence renal filtration function, highlighting the importance of regular monitoring of blood pressure and GFR to prevent further kidney damage.

Abstract

Stroke causes various physical, psychological, and social changes that may reduce a patient’s ability to adapt. Resilience plays a crucial role in helping patients manage their condition after a stroke. Family support and self-efficacy are important factors that can strengthen resilience; however, the level of resilience varies among individuals. Therefore, it is necessary to examine the relationship between family support, self-efficacy, and resilience among stroke patients. To determine the relationship between family support and self-efficacy with the level of resilience among stroke patients at Sultan Agung Islamic Hospital, Semarang. This study employed a quantitative correlational design with a cross-sectional approach. A total of 114 respondents were included using a total sampling technique. The instruments used were the Family Support Questionnaire, the Stroke Self-Efficacy Questionnaire, and the Connor–Davidson Resilience Scale. Data were analyzed using the Spearman Rank correlation test. The findings revealed a significant relationship between family support and resilience (p = 0.000; r = 0.665), indicating a strong positive correlation. Self-efficacy and resilience (p = 0.000; r = 0.851), indicating a very strong positive correlation. These results show that higher family support and higher self-efficacy are associated with better resilience in stroke patients. There is a significant and strong relationship between family support and self-efficacy with the level of resilience among stroke patients. Increased family support and stronger self-efficacy contribute to higher resilience in managing post-stroke conditions.

Abstract

This study examined the relationship between self-care management and hospitalization frequency among patients receiving maintenance hemodialysis. A quantitative empirical approach with a descriptive correlational cross-sectional design was applied to 99 patients undergoing routine hemodialysis. Self-care management was measured using a validated questionnaire, while hospitalization frequency during the previous year was obtained from medical records. Descriptive analysis demonstrated that a substantial proportion of patients exhibited moderate to high levels of self-care management. Bivariate analysis revealed a statistically significant association between self-care management and hospitalization frequency, indicating that patients with higher self-care capacity experienced fewer hospital admissions. These findings suggest that effective self-care behaviors, including adherence to diet and fluid restriction, vascular access care, and stress management, contribute to greater clinical stability. Integration with existing literature confirms that self-care management operates as a protective behavioral mechanism influencing objective health outcomes in chronic kidney disease. Strengthening self-care management through structured nursing education and supportive interventions may reduce preventable hospitalizations and improve healthcare efficiency for hemodialysis populations. The results provide empirical support for incorporating self-care management as a core component of chronic renal care strategies.

Abstract

Patients with Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS) post Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) often still experience chest pain due to inflammatory processes or psychological factors. Unmanaged pain can increase cardiac workload. The Benson relaxation technique is a non-pharmacological intervention that combines deep breathing techniques with an element of faith (spiritual) to induce a relaxation response. This study aims to determine the effect of the Benson relaxation technique on reducing chest pain levels in ACS patients after PCI at Referral hospitals in Central Java Province. This study used a one-group pretest-posttest design with a sample of 36 respondents selected by purposive sampling. Pain measurement used the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS) before and after the intervention. The Benson relaxation technique was administered for 10–15 minutes per session. Data analysis used the Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test. Before the intervention, all respondents (100%) experienced moderate chest pain (mean=5.11). After the intervention, there was a significant reduction, with 61.1% of respondents falling into the mild pain category and 38.9% remaining in the moderate category (mean=3.39). Statistical test results showed a significant difference between pain scores before and after the intervention (Z=-5.500; p=0.000).The Benson relaxation technique is proven effective in reducing chest pain levels in ACS patients post PCI in the Emergency Department
