Abstract

Purpose: This research is aimed at describing the values contained in the magebagan tradition in Bali in terms of the Tri Hita Karana philosophy. Design/methodology/approach: This research uses a qualitative approach which is explained descriptively. Research data was collected through observation, interviews and literature review. Data were analyzed and described qualitatively Findings: It was found that in the parhyangan aspect the value contained is respect and devotion to ancestors which is vertically the same as the relationship between humans and God through ancestors. In the pawongan aspect, the magebagan tradition is very full of meaning of solidarity, solidity and mutual cooperation. From the palemahan aspect, through the magebagan tradition, safe and comfortable conditions will be created for the bereaved family spiritually and materialistically. Implications: The magebagan tradition is not free from negative stereotypes but this tradition is also full of meaning. Negative practices that can reduce the meaning of this tradition need to be reduced so that later this tradition can remain the color of the noble Balinese culture.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the use of technology in English language learning in Class XI E at SMA N 2 Bangli. The technologies used include laptops, LCD projectors, and applications such as Kahoot, Quizizz, and PowerPoint. The research employs a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collection techniques consisting of observation, checklists, and field notes. The results show that the use of technology helps to enhance students' motivation and engagement in learning. Students become more active, and the learning process becomes more interesting due to the use of visual and digital media. However, some challenges include limited access to technology for some students and technical issues such as unstable internet connections. This study suggests improving the school's technological infrastructure and providing training for teachers to effectively integrate technology into the classroom. With adequate support, the use of technology can significantly improve the quality of English language learning.

Abstract

The little chef program at Kiddos Preschool has succeeded in improving the English speaking skills of KG1 students. Before the program, students were hesitant to speak English, but after joining the program, they showed significant improvements in vocabulary and confidence. On average, students were able to mention 10 new vocabulary words related to cooking and participated more actively in discussions. Cooking activities create a fun learning atmosphere and support active language use. Interviews with students and teachers show that the program not only improves language skills, but also students' self-confidence and social skills. With the right teacher support, this program can continue to evolve to meet student needs.

Abstract

article aims to analyze the use of digital platforms in English language learning in Class XB at SMA 2 Bangli. The background of the study focuses on leveraging technology to enhance learning effectiveness in the digital age. The purpose of the research is to evaluate the application of three digital platforms PowerPoint, Quizizz, and Kahoot and their impact on student engagement and learning outcomes. The method employed is qualitative observation in Class XB to identify how these platforms are utilized in teaching. The findings reveal that PowerPoint facilitates visual presentation of materials, Quizizz enhances student understanding through interactive quizzes and immediate feedback, and Kahoot boosts motivation and participation through game-based quizzes. The implications of this research are that integrating these three digital platforms into English language learning can increase student engagement and teaching effectiveness, offering varied approaches to the learning process. This study is expected to provide guidance for educators on optimizing digital technology for more effective teaching.

Abstract

Education is a very complex process that not only covers knowledge but also skills, including moral and ethical values. English as an international language has an important role in the field of education, especially in Indonesia at senior high school (SMA) with a focus on developing skills from speaking, listening, reading and writing. However, each learners have different abilities ranging from slow learners to fast learners, it requires teachers to apply a variety of learning strategies in accordance with learning. This study aims to explore English learning strategies applied at SMA Negeri 2 Bangli, especially in class XI. Through the descriptive qualitative research method, this study found that both teachers apply varied learning strategies according to the needs of students, and there are learning strategies that are rarely applied because they are considered less suitable for the characteristics and learning needs of students.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the learning styles of 11th-grade students in Class MP 2 at SMK N 1 Bangli in the context of learning English. The findings indicate that the majority of students have a preference for kinesthetic learning style, followed by auditory and visual learning styles. Despite the dominance of the kinesthetic learning style, some students also show tendencies towards auditory and visual learning styles. Meanwhile, the research identifies several learning difficulties faced by students, such as a lack of motivation, basic English language proficiency, and limited school resources. To address these challenges, teachers and schools are advised to create an environment that supports students' learning motivation, pay special attention to mastering basic English language skills, and enhance students' access to quality learning resources, including the use of technology such as utilizing smartphones for learning activities. Abstract

Education in early childhood is the main foundation in individual development, especially in forming personality, social skills and cognitive abilities. One important aspect in early childhood education is the introduction of language, especially English which acts as a global lingua franca. This research analyses the effectiveness of the bilingual program in improving the English language skills of KG 1 students at Kiddos Preschool Gianyar. Bilingual programs are introduced through various methods such as educational games, songs, stories and murals that support language development in a natural and fun way. The research results show that this program has a positive impact on the development of students' vocabulary, comprehension and speaking skills. Factors such as interactive teaching methods, teacher and parent support, and the availability of adequate learning resources are the keys to the success of this program. Suggestions are given to increase the effectiveness of the program through innovative learning methods and continuous training for teachers, as well as strengthening collaboration with parents.

Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to analyze the development of fine motor skills in early childhood through puzzle-playing activities. Fine motor skills involve the coordination of small muscles, particularly those in the hands and fingers, which are essential for activities such as writing and drawing. The method used in this study was observation of children's puzzle-playing activities in kindergarten. The results indicate that playing puzzles significantly enhances children's fine motor abilities, including hand-eye coordination, the ability to grasp small objects, perseverance, and problem-solving. Children who frequently play with puzzles demonstrate improvements in their ability to assemble and complete puzzles quickly and accurately. Additionally, this activity helps improve children's focus and concentration. These findings suggest that puzzle games are not only enjoyable but also support the cognitive and motor development of early childhood.

Abstract

Abstrak Perkembangan teknologi membawa perubahan signifikan dalam dunia pendidikan di Indonesia, termasuk penyempurnaan kurikulum yang mempengaruhi pengajaran di semua level. Bahasa Inggris, sebagai bahasa internasional, memiliki peran penting di era globalisasi dan teknologi. Pengajaran bahasa Inggris sejak usia dini dinilai efektif dalam meningkatkan akses informasi dan teknologi. Program pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk mengoptimalkan pembelajaran bahasa Inggris di SDN 1 Sulahan melalui pendekatan gamifikasi, yang diterapkan pada siswa kelas 1 dan kelas 4 sebagai perwakilan kelas rendah dan tinggi. Program ini terdiri dari pelatihan guru mengenai strategi pengajaran, penggunaan media gamifikasi online dan offline, serta pengembangan media ajar berbasis digital. Hasil dari program ini menunjukkan peningkatan motivasi siswa dan penguasaan kosakata bahasa Inggris melalui metode pembelajaran yang interaktif dan menyenangkan. Pendampingan di kelas 1 dan kelas 4 juga memperlihatkan bahwa siswa lebih tertarik dan termotivasi untuk belajar bahasa Inggris. Dengan demikian, program ini berhasil memberikan dampak positif dalam meningkatkan kualitas pengajaran bahasa Inggris dasar di SDN 1 Sulahan, Bali. Kata kunci: gamifikasi; bahasa inggris; kurikulum merdeka; pengajaran berbasis teknologi Abstract Technological advancements have brought significant changes to the educational landscape in Indonesia, including curriculum improvements that affect teaching at all levels. English, as an international language, plays a crucial role in the era of globalization and technology. Teaching English from an early age is considered effective in enhancing access to information and technology. This community service program aims to optimize English learning at SDN 1 Sulahan through a gamification approach, implemented for 1st and 4th-grade students as representatives of lower and upper grades. The program includes teacher training on teaching strategies, the use of online and offline gamification media, and the development of digital-based teaching materials. The results of this program showed an increase in students' motivation and mastery of English vocabulary through interactive and enjoyable learning methods. Assistance in 1st and 4th-grade classes also demonstrated that students became more interested and motivated to learn English. Therefore, this program successfully delivered a positive impact on improving the quality of basic English teaching at SDN 1 Sulahan, Bali. Keywords: gamification; english; merdeka curriculum; technology-based teaching

Abstract

This study aims to develop a bilingual storybook that inserts local culture in the story for young learners in grade 4 at the State Elementary School 1 Kawan. This research uses level one (1) research and development method from Sugiono (2019). The steps in developing this research are (1) Potential and problems, (2) Literature study and collecting information (3) Product design (4) Product validation, (5) Tested design. The instruments used in this research are observation questionnaire, interview questionnaire, and questionnaire. The observation questionnaire was used to observe the needs and problems at the research site, the interview questionnaire was used to ascertain the needs of teachers and students, the questionnaire was used to assess the product by experts. Based on the recapitulation of the assessment conducted by three experts, namely two from ITP Markandeya Bali Lecturers and one from the research site. Obtained a score of 4,6 from the first expert, 4,73 obtained from the second expert, and 4,6 obtained from the third expert. Then the average score is 4,67 with the excellent category. Based on the results of the validation, it is stated that the results of the development of illustrated storybooks that insert local culture for young students in class 4th of Elementary School 1 Kawan are suitable for use.
