Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe the errors made by students in solving story problems on pythagorean material in class VIII B SMP Negeri 2 Langowan based on Kastolan's theory. This research uses qualitative research, with the methods used in data collection are written tests in the form of description questions (essay), interviews, and documentation. The subjects in this study were class VIII Byang students totalling 29 students. Based on the results of the data obtained, it shows that in solving story problems on pythagorean material, students make mistakes at the stage of understanding the concept with a percentage of 15.17%, the stage of understanding the procedure with a percentage of 42% and the stage of understanding the technique with a percentage of 62%.

Abstract

This study examines the application of two different learning models in learning matrix operation mathematics at SMK N 1 Touluaan. This research used experimental method with pretest-posttest experiment group design, involving two randomly selected classes with the number of samples of each class of 20 students and the experimental class applied Problem-Based Learning and the control class applied direct learning. The results showed that there was a significant difference between the learning outcomes of students taught using the Problem-Based Learning model and students taught using the direct learning model. In this study using the t-test to test the data, with the results of the value of t_hitung = 3.239041637> t_tabel = 1.68595 with a real level α = 0.05 this means reject H_0 and accept H_1. The Problem-Based Learning model is proven effective in improving student learning outcomes on matrix operation material.

Abstract

This research investigates the application of the cooperative learning model, specifically the Team Assisted Individualization (TAI) approach, in enhancing the learning outcomes of high school students in the topic of System of Linear Equations in Three Variables (SPLTV) at SMA Negeri 2 Manado. The study is motivated by the challenges students face in mathematics, particularly in contextual problems and mathematical modeling, leading to outcomes that do not meet the Minimum Completeness Criteria (KKM). The research employs a quasi-experimental design, contrasting one class utilizing the TAI model with another using conventional teaching methods. Data were collected via pre-tests and post-tests, which revealed a significant difference in average scores favoring the TAI model. Results indicate that TAI not only improves knowledge but also engages students actively, promoting collaboration and reducing the perception of mathematics as a difficult subject. The study suggests the integration of cooperative learning strategies to enhance student motivation and understanding in mathematics education, contributing to the development of effective teaching methodologies.
