Abstract

The development of cultural tourism requires the preservation of local traditions and the strengthening of visual identity represented by tourism actors. One of the strategic elements in cultural tourism services is the role of the tour guide as a cultural representative who interacts directly with tourists. However, tour guides in Prambanan Tourism Village still have limited knowledge and skills regarding the application of traditional makeup that reflects the local cultural identity. This community service activity aims to enhance the competence and confidence of tour guides through training in traditional makeup based on Javanese cultural esthetics. The implementation method includes observation, needs analysis, material delivery, demonstration, direct practice, mentoring, and evaluation. The participants of the activity are tour guides who are part of the Prambanan Village Tour. The results of the activity show an increase in the participants' understanding and ability to apply traditional makeup that meets the needs of cultural tourism services. In addition, the participants showed an increase in self-confidence in serving tourists and were able to present the local cultural identity more professionally. This activity also impacts the strengthening of the visual image of the tourist village and opens up opportunities for the development of cultural tourism packages, including traditional makeup services for pre-wedding tourism needs.
