Abstract

Penelitian ini mencoba mengkaji seni tradional yang berada di Kabupaten Ciamis Jawa Barat yang bernama Bebegig Sukamantri. Bebegig adalah sebuah benda yang biasa disebut di berbagai daerah sebagai orang-orangan sawah yang berfungsi untu\k mengusir hama burung di sawah yang kemudian berubah menjadi sebuah bentuk kesenian daerah yang mengandung unsur seni dan magis. Nama Sukamantri diambil dari nama desa asal terlahirnya kesenian tersebut yakni Desa Sukamantri Kecamatan Sukamantri Kabupaten Ciamis Provinsi Jawa Barat. Hal yang membuat peneliti tertarik untuk mengkaji kesenian ini adalah karena mempunyai sisi unik dari kesenian diantaranya dari sudut pandang sejarah, filosofi-filosofi yang terkandung dari kostum yang digunakan serta dari pelafalan mantra yang berfungsi dan dianggap sebagai sebuah do’a serta pesan-pesan, kemudian pola pelestarian yang terbilang berhasil mempertahankan kesenian tradisional ini. Maka dari itu peneliti membatasi permasalahan pada penelitian ini melalui beberapa rumusan masalah yaitu tentang bentuk penyajian kesenian dan makna simbolik yang terkandung dari pelafalan mantra pada kesenian Bebegig Sukamantri tersebut. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif analitik. Sedangkan pisau bedah penelitian ini dikupas dengan inter disiplin ilmu, diantaranya dengan kajian ilmu Anthropologi, Sosiologi dan ilmu Semiotika gaya Roland Barthes untuk mengungkap makna makna yang ada pada kesenian ini diantaranya pada pelapalan mantra mantra khas yang digunakan, Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian untuk menghimpun data yaitu dengan menggunakan instrumen observasi, wawancara, dan studi dokumentasi, internet dan sumber lainnya yang relevan.

Abstract

Tarumpah is a typical Tasikmalaya leather craft. One of the manufacturers that produces this tarumpah leather craft is the Bido Collection Company which started producing tarumpah from 1997, with innovative and modern style models as well as strong and durable resistance, this makes the tarumpah produced by the Bido Collection unique. The research method used is qualitative research with an analytical descriptive. The results of this study say that the history of tarumpah is divided into 3 periods, namely the Hindu and Buddhist periods of the 9th century to the 13th century, the Islamic period of the 15th century to 1930, and the period after independence in 1950-2000. The process of making the first tarumpah leather patterning and cutting, secondly painting, thirdly leather rubbing and re-patterning, fourthly giving motifs, sizes and brands, fifthly upper fitting, sixth fitting of soles, seventh sewing, eighth sanding and finishing. Tarumpah regeneration at the Bido Collection occurred in 2015 and 2018 because many craftsmen left and needed craftsmen for production. Craftsmen training in Bido is carried out for 3 months. The method used is the drill or repetition method.Keywords: Leather Craft, Tarumpah, Bido Collection.

Abstract

Sundanese song pagerageungan is a traditional art originating from Tasikmalaya district. The xylophone accompaniment pattern in the Sundanese song art Pagerageungan plays a very important role in creating an atmosphere and strengthening the message contained in the song lyrics. The xylophone, as a traditional Sundanese instrument made from wooden blades, produces a distinctive sound and has a dual function as a rhythm regulator as well as adding melodic nuances to the song. The xylophone accompaniment pattern in this song is not only rhythmic, but also often has a melodic character that beautifies the song's strains. This gambang accompaniment pattern has 3 parts, namely merean, cacagan and geumbyang. The aims of this research are: (1) to find out the xylophone accompaniment pattern in the Sundanese pagerageungan song art (2) to find out the function of the xylophone accompaniment pattern in the Pagerageungan Sundanese song art. The method used in this research is qualitative with a descriptive analysis approach. The techniques used in this research are observation, interview and documentation techniques. The main instrument in this research is the research itself using tools in the form of field notes and recording tools in the form of cellphones.

Abstract

Angklung Buncis Sawargi is one of the high-value traditional Sundanese cultural heritages in Manggungjaya Village, Rajapolah District, Tasikmalaya Regency. This study aims to analyze the existence of Angklung Buncis Sawargi amidst the social and cultural changes of the local community. This research uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach, through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The study finds that the existence of this art form is still preserved due to the support of the local community, the participation of younger generations, and innovations in performances, such as the integration of traditional and modern music elements. Additionally, the role of art groups like Angklung Buncis Sawargi in various traditional events, entertainment, and education plays a crucial part in maintaining the continuity of this art. The implications of this research highlight the importance of collaboration between the government, art communities, and the public in preserving traditional art as local cultural identity, while also encouraging its development to remain relevant in the modern era. This preservation effort is expected to make Angklung Buncis not only locally recognized but also nationally acknowledged as a cultural heritage.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze one of the movements that is characteristic of Padepokan Fajar Kancana Kumpay Kuning Putra in Nagarakembang Village, Majalengka Regency, namely the Ibing Jagatraharja movement. Ibing Pencak Silat can be interpreted as a basic martial arts movement presented in the form of dance or the development of the pencak silat martial arts movement. The form of the Jagatraharja Movement is a development of core movements such as Tonjok, Nahan, and Siku Ajul. The problem raised in this study is to describe the structure of the Ibing Jagatraharja movement. The purpose of this study is to describe the structure of the movement of Ibing Jagatraharja Padepokan Fajar Kancana Kumpay Kuning Putra. This study uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach with data collection techniques of observation, interviews and documentation.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Tanji merupakan kesenian khas Jawa Barat yang merupakan versi pentatonik dari kesenian Tanjidor. Walaupun memiliki nama yang hampir sama dengan kesenian Tanjidor, tetapi musik Tanji ini memiliki sejarah yang berbeda dengan Tanjidor, musik tanji lahir dan berkembang pada abad pertengahan sekitar dekade 1960-an di daerah Bojongloa, Buahdua, Sumedang. Musik tanji merupakan musik pengiring untuk kesenian bangreng, dasar pemikiran yang melatar belakangi masalah penelitian ini adalah bagaimana struktur penyajian musik tanji dari grup sari endah serta upaya pelestarian yang dilakukan oleh grup sari endah. Permasalahan yang diangkat dalam penelitian ini adalah Bagaimana struktur penyajian musik tanji yang dibawakan grup Sari Endah dalam kesenian bangreng? Bagaimana upaya pelestarian grup Sari Endah untuk menjaga eksistensinya hingga sekarang?. Tujuan dilaksanakan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan struktur penyajian musik Tanji dan upaya pelestarian yang dilakukan oleh grup sri endah. Kajian teori yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah teori strukur dan , penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif analisis yaitu peneliti berusaha memaparkan semua hasil penelitian yang ada di lapangan. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah dengan observasi, wawancara, studi pustaka, dokumentasi, dan teknik analisis data. Struktur penyajian musik grup sari endah memiliki tiga bagan dalam pertunjukannya. Grup Sari Endah memiliki dua buah lagu wajib yang biasa dibawakan oleh grup Sari Endah Kata kunci : Struktur Penyajian, Musik Tanji, Sari Endah, Bangreng

Abstract

This study examines the implementation of the pentatonic scale on electric guitar as a mandatory scale in music extracurricular activities at SMK YPC Tasikmalaya. The research background was based on low levels of student participation and understanding in electric guitar learning. The study employed a qualitative descriptive method with a cross-sectional approach, involving students participating in music extracurricular activities for the 2024/2025 academic year. Data collection was conducted through interviews, observations, documentation, and literature study. The results showed that implementing the pentatonic scale as a mandatory scale had positive impacts, with a 35% increase in improvisation ability and 40% in musical creativity in the experimental group. The program also successfully integrated Indonesian traditional music elements into modern learning, supporting the preservation of local musical culture. The study concludes that implementing the pentatonic scale as a mandatory scale is effective in improving students' technical abilities and musical creativity, while contributing to the development of a comprehensive music learning model at the vocational high school level.

Abstract

This study presents an experimental music composition on sound eksploration from a single object: the metal coin. Entitled Kointik (Koin Tekstur Intuitif Komposisi), the work applies an intuitive and purely auditory approach, focusing on the exploration of texture, rhythm, and sound dynamics. The composition is constructed entirely between the body and the coin object. A set of graphic and symbolic notations was developed contextually to represet sound qualities, silences, gestures, and dramaturgical structures. The result reveal that everyday objects like coins possess strong musical and symbolic potential when treated as artistic materials. This work produces not only an immersive listening experience but also opens reflective space in value, social pressure, and the meaning of silence. Kointik contributes to the development of experimental music rooted in sensory experience and the curtular significance of local object.

Abstract

This study explores the creation process of a contemporary music composition entitled “Bisikan Cucian” (“The Whisper of Laundry”), which originates from the sonic exploration of domestic activities, particularly manual laundry routines. Through an experimental and reflective approach, this work transforms everyday household sounds such as water splashes, fabric friction, whispers, and hanger taps into the main elements of its musical structure. The study adopts a qualitative method with an artistic research approach, involving direct observation, sound recording, selection, and composition based on expressive and narrative values. The composition aims to reframe domestic labor as a legitimate artistic space, while presenting emotional narratives and personal reflection through sound and bodily movement. In addition to voicing personal experiences, “Bisikan Cucian” addresses gender issues and body aesthetics, challenging conventional listening spaces by highlighting often-ignored sounds. The result reveals that domestic soundscapes hold strong artistic potential when consciously and contextually processed, and that they can expand the discourse of contemporary sound art in Indonesia through the lens of everyday aesthetics and acoustic ecology.

Abstract

The work of Rumorwave explores the potential of the human voice as the main ingredient for the creation of contemporary music without the use of traditional instruments. By utilizing whispers, hiss, muttering, and conversation pieces, this work captures the social dynamics of gossip practices that often occur in everyday life. This research aims to explore how sound works in forming an emotional, reflective, and socially meaningful listening experience. Through an explorative-experimental approach, the creation of works is carried out through the stages of sound collection, vocal manipulation, thematic structure, and sound space packaging. The result is a musical work that is not oriented to conventional forms, but to the honesty of expression and openness of interpretation. This work is also a form of catharsis and criticism of incomplete communication patterns in modern life.
