Abstract

This qualitative study attempts to find out students’ perceptions on the utilization of icebreakers in grammar class. It broadly believes that better teaching and learning provide a likely classroom climate. EFL teachers employ plenty of strategies and activities to actualize successful language acquisition. Reliable icebreaker activities are one of the techniques that support EFL learners to gain a well-turned learning outcome, especially in Grammar. To take the sample, the researcher used purposive sampling, which Involved 12 students from the 3rd semester of English Department at the State Islamic Institute of Lhokseumawe. A questionnaire with Likert-scale solely shed light on the description of EFL learners’ perceptions of the use of icebreakers in grammar class. Moreover, the data analysis was done through some steps, namely, data collection, data display, and conclusion drawing or verification. Several bar charts were presented to illustrate the data. The result indicated that icebreakers became substantial activities in grammar class to organize not only linguistic and social factors but also psychological factors in language learning, such as boredom, anxiety, nervousness, and insecurity. Various kinds of applicable ice breakers implemented in grammar class stimulate students’ interest, foster their motivation and enthusiasm, and develop interpersonal skills. Thus, EFL Learners are ready to undergo the forthcoming lesson on grammar and have a positive learning experience. So, understanding of the subject matter improves.  Finally, this study can be a powerful teaching reference for future research on similar topics.

Abstract

Background: Increasing cases of chronic diseases lead to higher death rates in the world. Chronic diseases are caused by unhealthy people's behaviour, environmental factors, increased use of technology, socio-cultural influences that can affect the quality of life of sufferers. Chronic illness can affect the health of individuals, families, communities and governments. The precede-proceed model is an approach that can be used to influence individuals in their activities by adjusting to their conditions, compliance with treatment and enthusiasm for treatment so as to improve the quality of life for people with chronic diseases. Purpose: To identify the effectiveness of the precede-proceed model in improving the quality of life of patients with chronic diseases.Method: This research is a pre-experimental research with a pre-test and post-test design approach. The population in this study were people with chronic diseases and the sample was 17 respondents who were selected by random sampling with the inclusion and exclusion criteria set by the researcher. The precede-proceed model was carried out in 7 stages which lasted for 7 weeks. The instrument used to assess the patient's quality of life is Whoqol-Brief. Hypothesis testing using the Paired T-sample statistic. Results: the most dominant sex in this study was women with a percentage of reaching (76.47%), the most age was elderly with a percentage of 52.94%, secondary education level with the highest percentage of 58.82% and the most type of DM disease dominant in this study with a percentage of 35.29%. The precede-proceed model can improve the quality of life of patients with chronic diseases (p=0.00).Conclusion: The precede-proceed model is an approach to increasing the knowledge of people with chronic diseases with health services through the support of patients, families and the community.  Keywords: Chronic Diseases; Precede-Proceed Model; Quality of Life. Pendahuluan: Peningkatan kasus penyakit kronis menyebabkan semakin tingginya angka kematian di dunia. Penyakit kronis disebabkan perilaku masyarakat, faktor lingkungan, peningkatan penggunaan teknologi, pengaruh sosial budaya yang dapat mempengaruhi kualitas hidup penderita. Penyakit kronis dapat mempengaruhi kesehatan individu, keluarga serta masyarakat dan pemerintahan. Precede-proceed model merupakan suatu pendekatan dalam bentuk pendekatan, yang dapat mempengaruhi individu untuk beraktivitas dengan menyesuaikan dengan kondisinya, pemenuhan dalam pengobatan dan semangat dalam menjalani pengobatan sehingga mampu meningkatkan kualitas hidup penderita penyakit kronis. Tujuan: Untuk melihat keefektifan precede-proceed model dalam meningkatkan kualitas hidup penderita dengan penyakit kronis. Metode: Penelitian quasi eksperimen dengan pendekatan pre-test dan post-test design. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah penderita penyakit kronis, dengan sampel sebanyak 17 responden yang dipilih secara random sampling. Kriteria inklusi meliputi responden yang bersedia menjadi responden, pasien yang mengalami penyakit kronis lebih dari 6 bulan, kesadaran compos mentis, nilai kualitas hidupnya rendah, sedangkan yang menjadi kriteria eksklusi merupakan responden yang tidak bersedia menjadi responden, ada gangguan penglihatan dan pendengaran. Pelaksanaan precede-proceed model ini dilaksanakan dalam 7 tahapan yang berlangsung selama 7 minggu. Instrumen yang digunakan untuk menilai kualitas hidup pasien berupa Whoqol-Brief. Pengujian hipotesis menggunakan statistik Paired sampel T-test.Hasil: Menunjukkan bahwa jenis kelamin yang paling dominan dalam penelitian ini adalah perempuan dengan persentase mencapai 76.47%, usia yang paling dominan dalam penelitian ini adalah lanjut usia dengan persentase mencapai 52.94%, tingkat pendidikan paling banyak menengah dengan persentase 58.82% dan jenis penyakit kronis yang paling banyak adalah penyakit diabetes mellitus dengan persentase 35.29%. Model precede-proceed dapat meningkatkan kualitas hidup penderita dengan penyakit kronis (p=0.00).Simpulan: Precede-proceed model merupakan suatu pendekatan dalam meningkatkan pengetahuan penderita penyakit kronis dengan pelayanan kesehatan melalui dukungan dari pasien, keluarga dan masyarakat Kata Kunci: Kualitas Hidup; Penyakit Kronis; Precede Proceed Model.

Abstract

Walking exercise is one of the simplest and most cost-effective therapeutic approaches that can improve insulin sensitivity and promote glucose utilization for patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM).  This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of walking exercise therapy in lowering random blood glucose levels among patients with T2DM. A quasi-experimental design with a one-group pretest–posttest approach was used. The study involved 21 respondents with T2DM who were members of the Posbindu PTM in Gampong Lam Ujong Meunasah Manyang, Aceh Besar. The intervention consisted of walking exercise sessions lasting 30–45 minutes, performed three times per week for four consecutive weeks. Random blood glucose (RBG) levels were measured before and after the intervention using an Accu-Chek glucose meter. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon signed-rank test with a significance level of ? 0.05. The results showed a significant decrease in RBG levels from a mean of 351.19 mg/dL before the intervention to 254.71 mg/dL after the four-week exercise program (p = 0.000). These findings indicate that walking exercise therapy effectively reduces random blood glucose levels in patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. Therefore, nurses and community health practitioners are encouraged to incorporate walking exercise therapy into diabetes care and education programs as part of lifestyle modification strategies to achieve better glycemic control.

Abstract

Although English is recognized as a key competency for nursing students in academic and clinical settings, English instruction in many Indonesian nursing programs remains focused on General English and does not fully address profession-specific communication needs. This study investigates the alignment between current English teaching practices and nursing students’ actual communicative requirements through a classroom-based needs analysis. Using a descriptive-quantitative design supported by classroom observations and document analysis, data were collected from 202 purposively selected nursing students at the Akademi Keperawatan Kesdam Iskandar Muda Banda Aceh (AKIMBA). Questionnaire responses were analyzed using descriptive statistics, and qualitative data were examined through content analysis. The findings reveal that English is primarily used for academic purposes (80.6%), with reading identified as the strongest skill (69.3% good) and speaking the weakest (18.3% poor). Students expressed a strong preference for interactive instruction (87% favoring group or pair work) and for lecturers to act as facilitators (67.3%). Although most students preferred General English (66.8%), a significant proportion (32.7%) indicated the need for English for Specific Purposes (ESP), supporting the relevance of a blended curriculum model. These results highlight a mismatch between current instructional practices and students’ professional communication needs. The study recommends integrating communicative, student-centered approaches and progressively combining General English with English for Nursing Purposes to better prepare students for academic success and effective clinical communication. The implications of these findings contribute to ESP curriculum development in nursing education within similar institutional contexts.

Abstract

Diabetes Melitus  masih menjadi salah satu masalah kesehatan utama di Indonesia. kelompok penyakit metabolik yang ditandai dengan hiperglikemia (kadar glukosa darah yang tinggi) akibat gangguan sekresi insulin yang menimbulkan komplikasi dan kematian.  Diperlukan Penangan yang tepat untuk menghindari komplikasi dan meningkatkan kualitas hidup penderita diabetes. Aktivitas fisik menjadi salah satu metode pengendalian kadar glukosa darah, melalui aktifitas fisik sederhana yaitu latihan jalan kaki (walking exercise) yang direkomendasikan untuk penyandang diabetes mellitus. Metode pelaksanaan kegiatan meliputi penyuluhan pengendalian kadar glukosa darah, observasi, persiapan, pengukuran awal, pelaksanaan demonstrasi, dan evaluasi. Lokasi pelaksanaan di gampong Meunasah Manyang Desa Baet Lam Ujong Kecamatan Krueng Baronajaya, diikuti oleh 21 anggota Posbindu PTM yang menderita diabetes mellitus. Hasil: selama mengikuti kegiatan peserta antusias, dan berpartisipasi mengikuti kegiatan dari awal sampai akhir, keluhan terhadap gejala yang dirasakan berkurang dan terjadinya perubahan kadar gula darah pre-post. Simpulan terjadi perubahan kadar glukosa darah sehingga terapi ini terbukti efektif dalam menurunkan kadar glukosa darah penderita diabetes.

Abstract

Mahasiswa sangat rentan terhadap masalah yang terkait dengan tekanan akademis akibat transisi yang terjadi pada tingkat individu maupun sosial. Diperkirakan 10-30% mahasiswa mengalami stres akademis selama menjalani studi di perguruan tinggi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh self-compassion therapy terhadap tingkat stres pada mahasiswa keperawatan tingkat akhir. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian Quasy Eksperimen dengan pendekatan pretest dan postest design. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa tingkat akhir yang berjumlah 292 orang dengan jumlah sampel 42 orang. Teknik pengambilan sampel yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah nonprobability sampling jenis purposive sampling yaitu suatu teknik penetapan sampel dengan cara memilih sampel di antara populasi sesuai dengan kriteria inklusi. Pengukuran tingkat stres dilakukan menggunakan Perceived Stress Scale (PSS-10) yang terdiri dari 10 item dengan skala Likert untuk menilai persepsi stres responden. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada semester ke enam tahun ajaran 2024/2025. Hasil penelitian menggunakan uji Wilcoxon menunjukkan bahwa self-compassion therapy efektif dalam menurunkan tingkat stres mahasiswa tingkat akhir yaitu  pada saat pengukuran pre test nilai rata-rata (mean) adalah 25,53, sedangkan hasil pengukuran saat post test didapatkan nilai rata-rata (mean) 22,23 dengan p < 0.05, bahwa ada perbedaan tingkat stres mahasiswa tingkat akhir sebelum dan sesudah diberikan self-compassion therapy. Saran bagi peneliti selanjutnya untuk melakukan penelitian dengan desain Quasi  experiment, yaitu dengan memberikan dua intervensi yang berbeda kepada mahasiswa untuk mengurangi tingkat stres mahasiswa.

Abstract

With the rapid advancement of educational technology, students increasingly adapt their learning styles to digital platforms; however, integrating technology effectively into English as a Foreign Language (EFL) instruction remains a pedagogical challenge. Although the flipped classroom model has been widely explored in global contexts, limited evidence exists on how EFL students in Indonesia—particularly in Aceh—perceive and respond to this approach. Contextual factors such as internet access, lecturer readiness, and students’ digital habits may influence its effectiveness, yet remain underexplored. This study employed a qualitative design to examine university students’ perceptions of the flipped classroom model in EFL learning. Data were collected from 85 students in the third to fifth semesters across three universities in Aceh, all of whom had prior experience with the flipped classroom. The findings revealed that 68% of students perceived the model as more engaging and 67% recommended it to peers, and students’ perceptions were generally positive, as they valued the model’s interactivity, flexibility, and motivational impact, especially through video-based preparation and in-class collaboration. Four main themes emerged: learning effectiveness, use of video lessons, time management, and English mastery. The study highlights that contextual factors moderate the flipped classroom’s success in Aceh. Despite these challenges, the results validate its relevance for Generation Z learners and support its wider adoption in Indonesian higher education. Future research is recommended to conduct longitudinal or comparative studies across regions to deepen understanding of the model’s long-term and contextual impacts.

Abstract

Di Indonesia permasalahan kemiskinan merupakan masalah yang rumit, komplek dan bersifat multidimensional sehingga menjadi prioritas pembangunan. Kemiskinan merupakan suatu kondisi ketidakmampuan untuk memenuhi kebutuhan dasar seperti makanan, pakaian, tempat tinggal, kesehatan dan pendidikan. Kegiatan pemberdayaan masyarakat ini dilaksanakan di Dusun Jeumpa Desa Deunong Kecamatan Darul Imarah Kabupaten Aceh Besar dan Mitra dalam program ini adalah Tim Penggerak Pemberdayaan Kesejahteraan Keluarga ( TP-PKK) Desa Deunong sasaran mitra adalah ibu rumah tangga berjumlah 20 orang yang tergolong kedalam keluarga pra sejahtera dengan perekonomian masyarakat tergolong menengah kebawah. Program ini bertujuan untuk memberdayakan sasaran mitra melalui pelatihan handycraft berbasis manik-manik dalam mewujudkan ekonomi kreatif . Kegiatan diawali dengan identifikasi masalah, proses informasi dan tawaran solusi, penyusunan Materi, pelaksanaan pelatihan, dan evaluasi hasil kegiatan pelatihan . Pemberdayaan ini menghasilkan beberapa produk handycraft seperti tas Kecil pengganti dompet, tas HP, kalung, gantungan HP, bando dan konektor masker, gelang dan hiasan keranjang botol minum dan tempat tissue. evaluasi hasil kegiatan menunjukkan nilai rata-rata 97%, dengan nilai tertinggi pada aspek penyampaian Materi pelatihan dan motivasi kerja peserta. Kegiatan ini memberikan kontribusi nyata dalam peningkatan pengetahuan dan pengembangan kreatifitas dan inovasi terutama dalam bidang handycraft berbasis manik-manik sehingga hal tersebut menjadi penggerak roda perekonomian dalam keluarga dan masyarakat.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a sustainable community health module to enhance nursing students’ capacity in delivering community-based health services to vulnerable children at Rumoh Seujahtera Aneuk Nanggroe (RSAN), Aceh Besar. This study is grounded in the increasing need for effective and sustainable community health interventions for vulnerable children who often experience limited access to health education, preventive care, psychosocial support, and healthy living environments. Many children living in social welfare institutions remain at risk of poor health literacy and unmet health needs, which may negatively affect their physical, emotional, and social development. At the same time, nursing students require more structured and experiential learning opportunities to strengthen their competencies in community nursing, health promotion, and child-centered care. Despite the importance of community-based nursing education, there is still a lack of sustainable and context-specific health modules designed for vulnerable child populations in Aceh. Therefore, this research is important to bridge the gap between academic nursing training and real community health needs while supporting sustainable health services and improving the well-being of vulnerable children. A sequential mixed methods design was employed, integrating quantitative and qualitative approaches. The quantitative phase involved a survey of 70 children aged 5–18 years selected using a purposive sampling technique to assess health literacy and health-related challenges using validated instruments. The qualitative phase consisted of in-depth interviews with caregivers, nursing students, lecturers, and community health workers to explore perceptions, needs, and implementation challenges. Findings from both phases were triangulated to inform the development of a contextually relevant health module. The module was subsequently validated by experts and piloted among nursing students and children at RSAN using a pre-test and post-test design. The study is expected to produce an effective, context-based, and sustainable community health module that strengthens nursing education and community engagement.

Abstract

Remaja merupakan kelompok usia yang mengalami perubahan biologis, psikologis, emosional, dan sosial yang dapat memengaruhi kesehatan mental, termasuk dalam menghadapi perubahan kesehatan reproduksi. Keterbatasan informasi kesehatan reproduksi pada remaja, khususnya di lingkungan panti asuhan, berpotensi menimbulkan miskonsepsi, kecemasan, dan rendahnya kesiapan menghadapi masa pubertas. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan optimalisasi kesehatan jiwa remaja melalui psikoedukasi kesehatan reproduksi pada anak panti di Rumoh Seujahtera Aneuk Nanggroe (RSAN). Metode kegiatan menggunakan pendekatan psikoedukasi berbasis keperawatan jiwa melalui ceramah, diskusi interaktif, pembagian leaflet, serta evaluasi pre-test dan post-test. Kegiatan dilaksanakan pada tanggal 7 April 2026 dengan peserta remaja yang mengikuti sebanyak 21 orang. Materi yang diberikan meliputi perubahan pubertas, kesehatan reproduksi, personal hygiene, kesehatan mental remaja, serta strategi adaptasi terhadap perubahan perkembangan. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pengetahuan peserta setelah diberikan intervensi psikoedukasi, ditandai dengan meningkatnya kategori pengetahuan baik pada hasil post-test. Selain itu, peserta menunjukkan partisipasi aktif selama kegiatan berlangsung. Psikoedukasi kesehatan reproduksi berbasis keperawatan jiwa efektif meningkatkan pemahaman remaja mengenai kesehatan reproduksi dan kesehatan mental sebagai upaya promotif dan preventif di lingkungan panti asuhan.
