Abstract

The print media industry, especially newspapers, is experiencing severe shocks due to the rapid development of communication, information and digital technology. Riau Pos is the largest and oldest newspaper in Riau which has also felt the impact of technological disruption by experiencing a decline in circulation and income. To be relevant to current developments, Riau Pos implements digital transformation through various existing digital platforms. This research is intended to find out how the digital transformation of the Riau Pos Daily Newspaper as a traditional media is prepared to face global competition? The stages in this research are divided into three parts, namely (1) How is Riau Pos' strategy prepared in preparing for digital transformation to face global competition? (2) How is the transformation implemented by Riau Pos towards digital media facing global competition?This research uses descriptive qualitative research methods. Data was obtained by conducting in-depth interviews, observation and documentation. The research took as sources the Director who is also the Editor-in-Chief of Riau Pos, Deputy Editor-in-Chief, coverage coordinator and Riau Pos reporter. The results of this research show that Riau Pos has maintained its existence in the digital era by carrying out transformation using the mediamorphosis model. The model chosen focuses on developing new media in the form of websites and social media while still relying on the core business of newspapers. The two platforms, namely newspaper and digital, are managed side by side with a multiplatform concept so that they can reach a wider and more diverse audience. Riau Pos developed a digital business brand with Riau Pos Media. However, this development has not been followed by the creation of one application that can be used to access all service platforms owned by Riau Pos.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic triggered the Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) policy which had a significant impact on the employment sector in Indonesia, including the high number of Termination of Employment (PHK). In response, the government through BPJS Employment launched the Job Loss Guarantee (JKP) program in 2021 to provide protection for affected workers. This research aims to analyze BPJS Employment's communication strategy in socializing the JKP program in West Sumatra, which recorded a high number of informal workers (61.64%) and low BPJS Employment participation. The research results show that the communication strategy is not optimal due to limited promotional media and the lack of information received by the company and the public. Research recommendations emphasize the importance of implementing two-way communication, increasing the intensity of outreach through print and electronic media, and collaborating with community leaders to reach the informal segment. This strategy is expected to increase public understanding and effectiveness of the implementation of the JKP program

Abstract

Gema Village, Kampar Regency, has a unique river culture. In the river, an area called Lubuk Larangan has tourism potential that is developed based on local wisdom. However, there are several problems found in the lack of proper facilities and infrastructure to support ecotourism activities, lack of promotion and tourism marketing from the local government due to the absence of funding sources for the development of these tours. An effective environmental communication strategy is needed to convey conservation messages to visitors and local communities. This study aims to analyze the environmental communication carried out by Pokdarwis in managing the ecotourism-based Lubuk Larangan tradition in Gema Village, Kampar Regency. This research uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. By using purposive technique. Data collection techniques through interviews, observation and documentation. Data analysis techniques use data collection, data reduction, presentation and conclusion drawing. The data checking technique used is triangulation. The results showed that environmental communication carried out by the Tourism Awareness Group (Pokdarwis) played an important role in promoting and appreciating the cultural values and local knowledge contained in the Lubuk Larangan tradition through ecotourism with various communication strategies. This research concludes that by strengthening environmental communication strategies, Pokdarwis can be more effective in encouraging the preservation of the lubuk larangan tradition and supporting the development of sustainable tourism in Gema village.

Abstract

Air pollution in Riau Province is an environmental problem that has been going on for years, with significant impacts on public health, the environment, and the economy. One of the main causes of air pollution is forest and land fires (karhutla), which are generally caused by land clearing practices for agriculture and oil palm plantations. Although various efforts have been made to overcome air pollution, its implementation in Riau Province still faces a number of challenges, such as lack of socialization, suboptimal supervision, and weak law enforcement against perpetrators of arson. This study aims to examine how air pollution control policies are implemented in Riau Province through analysis of local media coverage from 2021 to 2024. The method used is qualitative research with a descriptive approach, which focuses on analyzing news content related to air pollution control policies. The results of the study show that although various policies have been implemented, challenges in supervision and public awareness still hinder the effectiveness of air pollution control efforts. This study provides recommendations for policy makers to strengthen coordination between agencies, increase public education, and improve supervision for more effective air pollution reduction in the future.

Abstract

Organizational culture, happiness at work, and leadership have been widely studied, yet the complex interactions among these factors and the role of religiosity in employee performance remain poorly understood, especially in the context of Islamic banking. This study investigates these relationships and their impact on the employee performance of Bank Muamalat Indonesia (BMI) in the Palu Branch, with religiosity as the moderating variable. Data were collected using closed questionnaires from all employees at the branch and analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The results indicate that organizational culture and happiness at work significantly enhance employee performance, while leadership does not have a significant impact. Notably, religiosity strengthens the positive effect of organizational culture on employee performance, indicating that religious values can deepen employee commitment and productivity by providing greater meaning and purpose in their work. The study highlights the importance of incorporating religiosity to foster an inclusive and productive work environment in Islamic banking. Future research with a more comprehensive design and a more diverse sample is recommended to further explore these relationships.========================================================================================================ABSTRAK – Meningkatkan Kinerja Karyawan Perbankan Syariah: Peran Moderasi Religiositas. Meskipun budaya organisasi, kebahagiaan di tempat kerja, dan kepemimpinan telah banyak diteliti, kompleksitas hubungan di antara faktor-faktor tersebut dan peran religiositas terhadap kinerja karyawan masih belum terpahami dengan baik, terutama dalam konteks perbankan syariah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji hubungan tersebut dan pengaruhnya terhadap kinerja karyawan Bank Muamalat Indonesia (BMI) Cabang Palu dengan religiositas sebagai variabel moderasi. Data penelitian dikumpulkan melalui penyebaran kuesioner kepada seluruh karyawan BMI di cabang tersebut yang kemudian dianalisis dengan Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa budaya organisasi dan kebahagiaan di tempat kerja secara signifikan meningkatkan kinerja karyawan, sementara kepemimpinan tidak berpengaruh signifikan. Menariknya, religiositas memperkuat dampak positif budaya organisasi terhadap kinerja karyawan yang mengindikasikan bahwa nilai-nilai keagamaan dapat memperdalam komitmen dan produktivitas karyawan dengan memberikan makna dan tujuan yang lebih besar dalam pekerjaan mereka. Studi ini menekankan pentingnya integrasi aspek religiositas untuk membangun lingkungan kerja yang inklusif dan produktif di perbankan syariah. Penelitian lanjutan dengan desain yang lebih komprehensif dan sampel yang lebih beragam masih diperlukan untuk memvalidasi dan memperluas hubungan ini.
