Abstract

The primary focus of health services is nurse performance since maintaining and enhancing the quality of health services requires assessment. A bridge to guaranteeing the caliber of services rendered to patients is good performance. The fact that performance statistics did not rise by 50% between 2013 and 2015—the target performance criterion is 70–80%—indicates that performance levels among Indonesian nurses are still very poor and have not significantly improved. Data on nurse performance at RSU Kota Tangerang Selatan for the years 2019 (82%), 2020 (85.4%), 2021 (74.3%), and 2022 (75.8%). It is well known that in 2021–2022, nurses' performance did not meet the 80% target. Finding the variables associated with nurses' performance at the South Tangerang City Public Hospital's inpatient installation in 2023 was the aim of this study. This study's methodology combined a cross-sectional study design with a quantitative approach. With 59 respondents overall, complete sampling was the sample strategy employed in this investigation. The data was analyzed using the chi-square test and SPSS software. Age, gender, education, and years of service did not correlate with nursing performance, according to the bivariate analysis (p-value 0.503; 0.481; 0.219; 0.814 > 0.05). However, there was a correlation between nurse performance and the work environment (p-value 0.000 < 0.05) and work discipline (p-value 0.008 <0.05).

Abstract

Introduction: Carbon monoxide (CO) emissions from urban transportation present a critical challenge for air quality, public health, and environmental sustainability. East Jakarta, with its rapid motorization and chronic traffic congestion, serves as a case study for the broader impacts of urban CO pollution. This study investigates the correlation between CO levels and traffic density, providing empirical insights into the dynamics of transportation-driven air pollution in densely populated cities. Methods: A quantitative cross-sectional study was conducted in July 2024, measuring CO concentrations at 15 strategic locations using calibrated CO meters. Sampling sites were selected based on traffic volume, population exposure, and historical emission data to ensure a comprehensive urban representation. Data analysis included descriptive statistics, normality tests, and regression analysis to evaluate relationships between CO levels, traffic patterns, and supporting variables. Results: Findings revealed an average CO concentration of 6,665 µg/m³, with Jatinegara Kaum (15,380 µg/m³) and Duren Sawit (13,031 µg/m³) exceeding the government air quality threshold (10,000 µg/m³). A strong positive correlation (R² = 0.78, p < 0.05) was identified between traffic congestion and CO levels, confirming vehicular emissions as the dominant contributor. Moreover, no significant correlation with weather variables was observed, further emphasizing the role of transportation in shaping local air quality. Conclusion: These results underscore the urgent need for policy interventions, including the expansion of electric vehicle infrastructure, congestion pricing, and green urban planning. This study also highlights the necessity of integrating real-time air quality monitoring and AI-based traffic flow management to optimize pollution control efforts. By situating East Jakarta’s case within global urban air pollution trends, these findings offer scalable insights applicable to other rapidly urbanizing cities worldwide.

Abstract

Plastic waste has become a global issue that has a significant impact on the environment and human health. Universities as higher education institutions are also one of the sources of considerable plastic waste due to the daily activities of students and staff. This study aims to identify factors that influence plastic waste reduction behavior among students of the Faculty of Public Health, Universitas Muhammadiyah Jakarta. This research design uses a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional method. A total of 188 students became respondents who were selected by stratified random sampling. Data were collected through an online questionnaire and analyzed using the Chi-Square test with a 95% confidence level. The results showed that the majority of students had good knowledge (77.1%) and positive attitudes (60.1%), but plastic waste reduction behavior was still poor in 52.7% of respondents. A total of 52.1% of students considered government policies related to plastic waste reduction to be good, and statistical analysis showed a significant relationship between government policies and plastic waste reduction behavior (p = 0.026). In contrast, knowledge, attitude, and availability of infrastructure did not have a significant relationship (p > 0.05). The results of this study emphasize that policies have an important role in encouraging changes in behavior that are more concerned about the environment. This study suggests the need to improve supporting facilities, continuous education, and strengthening policy implementation to reduce the use of plastic waste.

Abstract

Introduction: Management and services of Sharia hospitals require high quality institutional standards covering organization, human resources, facilities, services, and financial systems designed in accordance with Islamic Sharia principles. This study aims to empirically examine the effect of implementing these Sharia hospital standards on patient satisfaction in Indonesia, where faith based expectations significantly influence healthcare experiences. Methods: This quantitative study employed a Structural Equation Modeling Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) approach based on primary data. A total of 195 respondents were selected through purposive sampling from two certified Sharia compliant hospitals in Indonesia, Tangerang City Hospital and RSI Sari Asih Serang. Results: Bivariate analysis revealed significant relationships between all five Sharia hospital standard domains and patient satisfaction. Multivariate analysis, however, identified that only the facilities variable had a statistically significant effect, highlighting the central role of religiously congruent infrastructure. Conclusion: This study provides new empirical insights into the implementation of Sharia hospital standards by demonstrating that certified facilities enhance patient satisfaction particularly through physical environments that align with Islamic values. These findings contribute to the development of culturally responsive healthcare policies in Muslim majority settings.

Abstract

The rate of workplace accidents in the textile industry, particularly at PT Argo Pantes, has shown a significant increase, with 6 cases in one year, predominantly involving chemical exposure. Low Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) knowledge is one of the main contributing factors. This study aims to analyze the relationship between employees' OHS knowledge (covering cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects) and workplace accident rates, as well as the influence of age and work tenure.  The study used a cross-sectional design with a quantitative approach. The sample consisted of 60 employees from the KAI Unit of PT Argo Pantes, selected through total sampling. Data were collected using an OHS knowledge questionnaire and secondary data from workplace accident reports. Data analysis was performed using Pearson correlation, t-test, and ANOVA. There was a significant negative correlation between OHS knowledge and workplace accidents (r = -0.394; p = 0.002). About 60% of employees had low OHS knowledge, and the age group ≤35 years was more prone to accidents (p = 0.047). Work tenure did not have a significant effect (p = 0.053).  Improving OHS knowledge through multidimensional training can reduce the risk of workplace accidents, especially among younger employees. The company should develop simulation-based OHS training programs and strengthen supervision of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) usage in high-risk areas.

Abstract

The quality of healthcare services is a crucial factor in improving community well-being. The General Clinic of Bintaro Woman and Children Clinic Jagakarsa must ensure that its service quality meets national standards. To identify strategies for improving the quality of services at the clinic. This study employed a qualitative approach using observation and interviews with seven informants, consisting of three patients, two doctors, and two non-medical staff. Data were analyzed using the Miles & Huberman technique, which includes data reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing.Compliance with hand hygiene before patient contact was generally good; however, there were instances of negligence after removing personal protective equipment (PPE). PPE use adhered to policy, but glove usage was inconsistent, particularly when handling pediatric patients. Patient identification was carried out through document verification, although reliance on verbal communication alone sometimes reduced accuracy. Patient satisfaction was generally positive regarding registration, procedures, and service specifications, but complaints were raised about long waiting times, high costs, and unfriendly receptionist service.Routine training, policy reinforcement, regular evaluation, and improvements in time efficiency and cost transparency are necessary to enhance service quality and patient satisfaction.
