This article aims to describe the use of beam notation in choir extracurricular activities at SMA Negeri 8 Padang. This type of research was a qualitative research with a descriptive approach. Data were collected through literature studies, interviews and observation and training. The instruments of this research were the researcher himself with the help of other instruments such as notebooks and stationery, photo / cell phone cameras and song scores. This research was begun with the design, implementation, evaluation, and provided materials on beam notation and choirs as well as material on vocal techniques such as breathing exercises, intonation, and articulation to students in accordance with this study.The results of the study found that choir extracurricular activities at SMA Negeri 8 Padang had been going well. It was evidenced by the ability of participants to read rang talui song by using beam notation in the basic tone of D major. Students also have been able to read rang talu songs according to the type of sound that has been shared, namely soprano and alto in the basic tone of D major. Therefore, the activities implemented in this study have achieved good success rates. Keywords: the use of notation beams, extracurricular choral

Abstract This article aims to describe the use of musical instruments in Country Junior High School 3 pianika Painan. This research uses qualitative descriptive method. The object of research in class VIII-3. Engineering data collection done by observation, interviews, and the study of the literature. The data were analyzed using data processing techniques consisting of primary data and data skunder. The data is then classified, described, interpreted and then compiled in systematics and then summed up. The research began by observing the activities of the process of learning the art of music pianika happens in class VIII. 3. Starting from studying the syllabus and the RPP have been designed by the art and culture of SMP N 3 Painan. From the results of observation of the process that performed the teacher in class VIII. 3 the research results obtained are as follows: that the exercise of learning music pianika already well underway in accordance with the draft syllabus and RPP made teachers. But in the process of its implementation, there is also the difficulty of some of the students when playing tones of songs that does not correspond to the value of the duration or its rhythm so that songs can not be played perfectly. To resolve this issue of teacher gives motivation by means of assigning students to exercise more at home. Abstract This research discussed about the function of traditional art, Rabanea, in the wedding party in Nagari Sarik Alahan Tigo, Sub-district Hiliran Gumanti, Solok Regency. The topic was chosen because the researcher wanted to get description about the function of Rabanea in Nagari Sarik Alahan Tigo used in wedding party. It was a qualitative research with a descriptive analysis method. The data were collected through library studies, observation, interview, recording and photography. The rabanea is presented by using rabanea musical instruments as the accompaniment of poems in barzanji book and four rhyme poetry in Minangkabaunese. Rabanea is used in traditional ceremony and religious matters, for example, in wedding ceremony. The use of rabanea is arranged by niniak mamak nan balimo (the five of traditional leaders) who stay in Nagari Sarik Alahan Tigo. Viewing the role of rabanea especially in wedding party, it can be concluded that the functions of Rabanea are as communication tool, entertainment, cultural inheritance, social and religious institution establishement, and the function related to spiritual and economical income. Abstract This Article aim to find and describe how orgen tunggal gave influence toward the society and youth of Kampung Air Panjang Jorong Kuamang Kenagarian Panti Timur Kabupaten Pasaman. Type of this study was qualitative with descriptive method. Technique of collecting data was done by using library research, investigation, interview, and documentation. Data was classified into two, they were primary and secondary. Based on result of the study, the show of orgen tunggal had influence which big enough toward the society and youth of Kampung Air Panjang Jorong Kuamang Kenagarian Panti Timur Kabupaten Pasaman. The influence it can be seen of positive perspective which was based on opinion that given by host were effective and low cost for the society and they were a practical entertainment and medium to show the singing talent. The influence of negative one which was based on society opinion, said that use rythm of the music were disturb, the sexy appearance of the artists, appearance exceeded the time limit and the used of beer by the audiences in the show. Those things ruined image of orgen tunggal in Kampung Air Panjang Jorong Kuamang Kenagarian Panti Timur Kabupaten Pasaman. Keywords: positive influence, negative influence, orgen tunggal

Abstract The aim of this study was to figure out the correlation between the music with the dance in Tari Piriang Rantak Tapi show. This was a qualitative research which used content analysis approach. The data was collected through library study, observation and interview. The data then was classified into primary and secondary data. The result of the research revealed that there was a very significant correlation between the music and the dance in Tari Piriang Rantak Tapi show. Each of them affected to each other so that they became a unity. The music accompanied the dance in accordance with the structur of the dance. It also created a harmonic atmosphere which support the dance show. In counting the beats or rhythmic of the music and dance, it was clearly that the beats were one times eight which was similar to the strains of the music using 4/4 of birama symbol. Abstract This article aimed to explain the efforts of empowering learning facilities in the learning of music arts at SMP Negeri15 Padang. The type of this research was qualitative research with a descriptive analysis approach. The object of research was school, teachers, and students who were involved randomly, that were some students who were practicing extracurricular self-development of music and students who were studying arts and culture (music) at SMP Negeri 15 Padang in the even semester of 2017/2018 school year. Research instruments were data documentation, observation and interviews. The results showed that even though most of the students attending SMP Negeri 15 Padang were underprivileged students, there was no funding specifically in the provision of musical learning facilities at school, the achievement and quality of self-development activities and the learning of music at SMP Negeri 15 Padang 15 yet could be maintained. Apparently, there was a strategy in terms of empowering learning facilities that support extra and intra-curricular activities which caused students to have a disciplined attitude and responsibility in using musical instruments for both types of activities. Abstract This study aims to describe the implementaton of extracurricular choir in SMPN 8 Payakumbuh. This type of research is descriptive qualitative. Techniques of data collection by observation, interview and documentation. Research instrument is the author’s own self with the help of tools such as field data, recording interview and observation notes photo camera. Implimentation extracurricular choir at SMPN 8 Payakumbuh has been started from the year 2009 till now. Problem arising from the implementaton of that in term of infrastructure management and coaching partcipants. Studen interest is also one of the major problems in the implementation of this extracurricular choir. Inhibiting factor in extracurricular choir is less than the maximun student, attendance lack of motivation from parets, accuracy of tone, articulaton pronunciation song, and its impact on each other in the singing voice of students between one and two voice. Extracurricular activities while supporting factor is very strong support from the school and a strong willngness of coaches. Kata kunci: Extracurricular, choir, implementation,inhibiting and supporting factors.

Abstract Music Composition "The Dream" is a music composition that the making is departed from an imagination laid out with the kind of Chamber Music by presenting new colorsin the composition of the creation, which form a complete work of music. This type of art work bases the music groove on the conventional true events and emphasizes the supportive atmosphere in the composition. The Dream musical composition consists of 4 main forms using tempo Grave, Adante, moderatoassai, and moderato, which can describe the atmosphere tha tis present in a dream. The dream thatcomes up is intrepeted by the autho as an outline view of reality that appears to the mind of a writer like remorse, emotion, uncertainty, sincerity and dreams. The presentation of music composition "The Dream" puts some basic instruments and supporting instruments with piano as the main melody, group of strings (Violin, Viola, Cello), saluang sirompak, saluang darek, and keyboard as accompainement in music composition encapsulated by the author in the concept of this show. This study aims to determine and describe the implementation of drumband extracurricular activity in SDN 48 Ganting Padang. This type of research was qualitative research with using descriptive method including literature study, observation, interviews and documentation. The research instrument was the researcher. The Supporting instruments used were notebooks and stationery, photo cameras / mobile phones. This study explains that drumband is one of the extracurricular activities in SD Negeri 48 Ganting Padang. Drum Band is used to support flag ceremony. Besides, drumband is used by the community for babako parade events. Based on the results of the study, it is found that the implementation of the drumband begins by designing the principle of activity consisting of determining the participants of the exercise taken fromthe students at class VI, then determining the training time every Monday, Thursday, and Saturday. The material used namely marching exercises and musical exercises training that consisting of the song Indonesia Raya, Independence Day, Bangun Pemuda Pemudi, Bareh Solok, Ayam Den Lapeh, Malam Bainai and Moment of Silence. This extracurricular activitiy runs in accordance with the plans that have been made by the school.

Sejarah Keberadaan Gordang Sambilan Di Desa Taming Kabupaten Pasaman Barat Marhabi M. Fajrin; Yensharti Yensharti

This research aims to describe the history of the existence of Gordang Sambilan in the community in Taming village, Ranah Batahan District, West Pasaman Regency, West Sumatra Province. This type of research is qualitative with descriptive methods. The instrument of this study is the researcher himself. Data collection techniques based on library studies, observations, interviews and documentation. The data is analyzed with data reduction measures, data presentation, and conclusion. The theories used in this study are as follows. The diffusion process includes; 1) the dissemination of culture; 2) the history of the dissemination of cultural elements. Based on the results of his research found that, the history of the existence of Gordang Sambilan in Taming village began in 2004 on the proposal of Prof. Dr. Marjuni Rangkuti Mangaraja Gading Patembal professor at the University of North Sumatera who is a descendant of the king. The making of Gordang Sambilan is done in cooperation by Taming villagers with materials from Aren trees. the use of Gordang is agreed only for customary wedding ceremonies with the condition of slaughtering 2 goats. Gordang Sambilan was first used in the traditional wedding procession in 2004. The first person to teach Gordang Sambilan to the community was Named Lokot Mian. Taming village youth are enthusiastic to learn Gordang Sembilan so that this art is loved by Taming villagers until now.
