Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic reshaped schooling by shifting educational responsibilities from classrooms to homes, placing a concentrated load on women. In the suburban areas of Bekasi, Greater Jakarta, mothers and older sisters became the primary supervisors of elementary school children’s online learning while managing everyday household demands. Yet, thier experiences and insights rarely appear in regional education policies. This research examines how women handled the intensified tasks of supporting elementary-level online learning and explores the factors that limit their involvement in policy discussions. Elementary students were selected because their learning requires close and continuous supervision. Using a qualitative design, the research draws on focus group discussions and in-depth semi-structured interviews, followed by a three-stage coding analysis. The findings identify three key factors shaping women’s limited policymaking presence. (1) Ideological factors stem from persistent assumptions that public decision-making is not a women’s domain. (2) Internal factors arise from tensions and emotional demands within the household. (3) External factors include social expectations and institutional arrangements that expand women’s physical and mental workload. By documenting these layered pressures, the study demonstrates how women become the primary actors sustaining emergency education while remaining structurally sidelined from policy arenas. The analysis offers empirical insight into the gendered dynamics of home-based schooling in suburban Global South contexts.

Abstract

Abstract

Developing creativity in elementary school children is a crucial investment in developing individuals who are not only academically competent but also adaptive and innovative in the future. Crafts, particularly the creation of works from recycled materials such as used bottles, serve as an effective medium for nurturing children's creativity by engaging them in transforming waste into functional and aesthetic visual representations. This process not only improves motor skills but also stimulates holistic cognitive, affective, and psychomotor development, while fostering environmental awareness. This community service activity aimed to enhance the creativity of elementary school children through recycling-based art craft training. The training was conducted for two days at SDN 4 Kebonsari, Kebonsari District, Jember Regency, involving 30 students from grades 4-6. The method used was educative-participatory, focusing on idea exploration and art creation from used bottles. Evaluation was carried out using an assessment rubric measuring four aspects of creativity: fluency, flexibility, originality, and elaboration. The results showed a significant increase in all aspects, with the highest average increase in flexibility. This activity also increased children's intrinsic motivation to create and awareness of the importance of recycling. Recycling-based art craft training is effective as a medium for stimulating the creativity of elementary school children.

Abstract

Abstract: This study analyzes the existentialist dimensions in the film Sang Kiai and examines their relevance to Pancasila values for Generation Z in the digital era. It explores how existential values such as freedom, responsibility, and authenticity are represented through the character of KH. Hasyim Asy’ari and how these values can be internalized by Generation Z amid moral challenges and the dynamics of digital information. This research employs a qualitative descriptive approach using Jean-Paul Sartre’s existentialist philosophy as the main analytical framework. The analysis is conducted through narrative examination based on Syd Field’s three-act structure setup, confrontation, and resolution to reveal the philosophical meanings embedded in the storyline and character actions. Data are derived from scene observations, dialogue transcripts, and the socio-historical context of the film, which depicts the struggle of religious leaders in defending national independence and moral values. The findings show that Sang Kiai embodies the spirit of existentialism through the conscious and responsible choices of the main character, who embraces struggle and sacrifice as expressions of authentic freedom. These values are consistent with the principles of Pancasila, particularly belief in the One and Only God, just and civilized humanity, and the unity of Indonesia. The film also reflects moral and spiritual conflicts that resonate with Generation Z, who often face identity crises, value relativism, and post-truth digital culture. This study contributes originality by integrating Sartrean existentialism with Pancasila through Indonesian cinema, highlighting film as a powerful medium for character education and philosophical reflection in the digital age.

Abstract

The main urgency of this activity is that low literacy is a complex problem and requires movement efforts as a form of attention to Indonesia. Therefore, Indonesia needs to implement the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) program with the aim of improving and advancing human welfare. The Al-Quran Education Park (TPA) is used as a partner in the implementation of community service. The selection of partners is due to several problems faced by partners in current conditions, including a) the lack of reading book materials as literacy media; b) There is no program that can be used as a medium to foster a literacy culture to realize sustainable quality education. The solution offered is in the form of procurement of reading books that are tailored to the needs of partners, the second solution is to create an activity program that can later foster a literacy culture in the partner environment through storytelling. As a result of the overall activities, partners felt the benefits of the proposed program and from the results of the percentage evaluation questionnaire that was achieved 100%.
