Abstract

One of the HHBK is sap from resin wood. See its abundant potential in Indonesia resin gum made one of the forest plants that are able to provide production both wood and other results (not wood). Resin is one of the long-know non-timber forest products, producing a sap produced only by certain forest tree species. The aim of this research is to observe the utilization of damar sap by the people of Kedamin Hulu, and also analyzing the relationship between the utilization of damar sap with the level of income, knowledge, and cosmopolitan. This research used descriptive method in form of surveys using interview technique and using questioners as the tool of data collection. Based on the result of the research done to 87 respondents, it is known that from 87 respondents, 3 respondents (4%) have moderate level of utilization, 10 respondents (11%) have low level of utilization. Therefore, it can be concluded that the utilization of damar sap based on the level of utilization tend to have a high-level utilization, from 87 respondent, there are 74 respondents (85%) with high level of utilization. 74 respondents (85%) have positive level of utilization.Keyword: Kapuas Hulu, Non-timber Forest Products, Resin Sap, Resin Wood, Utilization

Abstract

Development of botanical gardens as a government effort to maintain the natural resource ecosystems may be affected by changes in the condition and development of social behavior in the surrounding communities. The purpose of this study was to determine the public's perception of community Sabung village towards development botanical garden in Sambas district. Data were collected by survey method by interviewing people in two villages located in the village Sabung. Respondents were selected by purposive sampling. the community is more than 3 years residing in the village Sabung. The results showed that there are differences in the perception of the botanical garden development. The public has a positive perception, and being negative about the development of botanical gardens Sambas district. However, the overall development of society agrees with Sambas district botanical gardens and take positive impact on the forest and surrounding communities. This difference in perception may be due to differences in the level of knowledge and lack of socialization by took instance on the development and benefits of botanical gardens. Abstract

Rubber gives an important role for the national economy, in West Kalimantan, most of the population work as rubber farmers, especially the community in Nyiin Village, Jelimpo sub-district, Landak district, is one of the villages that runs rubber plantations in the former cultivation area, which has been running since long time ago as the main livelihood to meet the needs of daily life.  Some of the problems that are faced by rubber farmers, during the rainy season the rubber farmers have difficulty in tapping rubber, also falling rubber prices nowadays. This affects for the economy and the amount of rubber latex produced by the public. While the prices of basic food are rising, to deal with such a problem the community tends to look for side jobs, such as working in oil palm companies, mining gold, and other jobs. This situation naturally raises perceptions in the local community in Nyiin Village as rubber tappers. The aim of this study to find out the perception of the local community on rubber farming in the former cultivation area and analyze the relationship between knowledge, age and cosmopolitan factors with the perception of the local community on rubber farming in the former cultivation area.  This research was carried out for 2 weeks effectively in the field, using descriptive and associative survey methods with interview techniques and questionnaire aids in the form that submitted to a number of respondents.  of 81 respondents 73 respondents (90.12%) had low perception, 8 respondents (9.88%) had moderate perception and 0 respondents had low perception of rubber farming.  It can be concluded that the people in Nyiin Village, Jelimpo sub-district, Landak district tend to have a low perception of rubber farming, this proves that the community feels the negative impact of the current rubber farming business, caused by the current low price of rubber.Keywords: Communities, Perception, Rubber

Abstract

Tourism is one of the most important industries to boost a country advancement. Thriving tourism has a big role in the economic, social, cultural development. Indonesian tourism industry has a growth rate of 7.2% per year which surpasses the world tourism industry by 4.7% (Legal and Public Communication of Tourism Ministry 2015). Tourist attraction is a form of activity and facility which are interrelated, and able to attract tourists to visit a particular place. Accessibility in Mananggar Waterfall tourist attraction is not certain whether it affects the level of tourist visit, so further assessment is needed which aims to determine the supporting factors, development, perception regarding the Mananggar Waterfall tourist attraction. This research was conducted at Nyiut Mountain nature reserve. This research showed the highest score of the element and sub elements that have been rated regarded elements of variation of activities showing the highest score of 29.84% with percentage of 15.29%. While the lowest scores of elements and sub elements of location cleanliness of 17.9% with percentage of 12.42%. Research findings showed that the overall elements and sub elements were rated equal to 156.04. The results can be multiplied with weight of the scores for Mananggar Waterfall with overall score of 156.04 x 6 = 936.24. The Mananggar Waterfall has an areal attraction score of medium (B) to be developed as a nature tourist attraction. Keywords: Mananggar waterfall, natural tourist, object natural attactions

Abstract

The increase of the population and a wide range of activities can provide a great influence towards the utilization of the natural resources that come from the forest. This has resulted in reduced customs and forest area of occurrence is increasingly threatened. This will require good of indigenous forest management, so it can retain and sustainment the forest. The problem is the factors are a driving factor in maintaining indigenous forest of society and if there are relation between the individual factors that led to the existence of the indigenous forest to be good or not. This research is aim to know the driving factor in maintaining indigenous forest of society and to know the relation of each the individual factorsis: the income rate, level of public knowledge, customary law, and public perception in maintaining indigenous forest. This research used a descriptive survey and interview techniques. Result of this research the driving factor of society in maintaining indigenous forest in the village of Peninsung because forests retain and store where the water source that river in the village are not easy to dry be used by communities to used daily as well forest products is are plentiful, especially timber and non timber that can be utilized by the public. Abstract

West Kalimantan Province is one of area that being habitat of orangutan, therefore it is very important to involve local society around Danau Sentarum National Park and Betung Kerihun National Park in Kapuas Hulu district in order to provide a good comprehension about orangutan. Besides that, it able to be expected to make grow awareness and action conserve orangutan, in around TNDS and TNBK in which the place to breeding orangutan and conservation area.The purposes in this research was to determined: 1). Perception of  society local to protect orangutan (Pongo pygmaeus) around Danau Sentarum National Park and Betung Kerihun National Park, 2) society effort to protect orangutan and 3) The relations between the level of knowledge, cosmopolitan, counseling and perception to protect orangutan.The result in this research showed that the perception local society local to protect orangutan around Danau Sentarum National Park and Betung Kerihun National Park tend to be different. Most respondents have perception that lower it was about (56%) to protect orangutan. From the result of the research showed most of respondents have perception that upper it was about (65.5%) in protecting orangutan around Danau Sentarum National Park and Betung Kerihun National Park.The relationship between the level perception of knowledge has moderate correlation with the value 56%, the perception level of cosmopolitan has moderate correlation with the value 46%, the counseling has moderate correlation with the value 59% and level of perception to protect orangutan has close links with the value 65,5% (strong). Abstract

Sungai Nilam village at Jawai Subdistrict of Sambas Regency has high potential of nature, such as forest products (timber) and non-timber forest products such as rattan, bamboo, honey and others. The forest has been the source of the community, because community a lot of activity in the forest such as rattan, bamboo and other activities. But the Illegal logging activity has indirectly damaging natural resources at Sungai Nilam village the forest. The purpose of study was to determine the attitude of the community in Sungai Nilam Village against illegal logging in their village and to determine the relationship of each of these factors: perception, knowledge, income, and cosmopolite and community interaction with public attitudes towards forest of Sungai Nilam village against illegal logging. Research was conducted on March 2016 with survey method descriptively with interview technique. The samples were collected by purposive sampling and the numbers of respondents are 94. The result of the research showed that 48 respondents (51.10%) belonging to the group of receive and high attitude on illegal logging, meanwhile 46 respondents (48.90 %)belong to a neutral stance. No one has refused or rejected the illegal logging activity in their village.This is because in the reality the community is dependent upon the results of forest timber and non-timber forest products in their everyday lives. Abstract

Descriptive analysis show the characteristics of societies is different, based on the level income average the respondents included in the high income category 20,15%, medium 61,56%, and low category 17,95%. While, based on the level knowledge there are three categories : high 71,79%, medium 21,80%, and for the low category 6,41% and for the characteristics of the respondents, based on counseling program with 78 respondents, high category 89,74% with 70 respondents, medium 5,13% with 4 respondents, and the low category 5,13% with 4 respondents. And the next category is characteristics respondents. Role of forestry extension the social changes the utilization non timber forest products, having a percentage for the category 91,02% with 71 respondents, for the medium category 5,31% with 4 respondents while for the low category 3,85% with 3 respondents. Inferential analysis results indicate that there is a significant relation between counseling program (33,61) with the role of forestry extension towards social changes and there is no significant relation between the level of income (1,27), knowledge (6,94) with counseling role social forestry in Tunggul Boyok Village. Abstract

In the forest and land use are many factors that cause the destruction of forests and the land, one of which is the activity of the people who frequent cultivation by burning one of which occurred in the village of Rasau Jaya Umum.. The method used was a survey method with interview-assisted questionnaire. Determination of the number of respondents using Slovin formula and its determination by purposive sampling. Data analysis using Chi Square formula. Public perception Rasau Jaya Umum Village Observations Based Indicators of Activity Against Brigdalkarhut Manggala Agni Daops Pontianak tend to differ. Analysis of the data showed 64.20% of all respondents are neutral, it is because there are some people Rasau Jaya Umum Village felt that the activities carried out by Manggala Agni Brigdalkarhut Daops Pontianak positive impact and people who are active in the burning of land, they have to have eyes other income not related to combustion, burning only do they do at a time when free to grow crops such as corn, pineapple and others,. Independent variables that have a real relationship / significant to the public perception Rasau Jaya Umum Village Observations of activity indicator Brigdalkarhut Manggala Agni Daops Pontianak is the level of age, level of education, cosmopolitan and while that does not have a real relationship / significant is the level of public knowledge. Abstract

Disturbance to protected areas Nyiut Mountain Nature Reserve from the village who lives close to the nature reserve, one of which is the village Pisak. Almost all conservation areas in Indonesia are in a strong pattern of interaction with the people living around them. Where the people living around the conservation area still rely on life in the forest. One of the activities undertaken by BKSDA as a form of activities in forest conservation is to make the Model Village Conservation Village as one of the first step in the community empowerment that is located around the conservation area of Gunung Nyiut Nature Reserve. The method used was a survey method with interview-assisted questionnaire. Determination of the number of respondents using Slovin formula and its determition by purposive sampling. Data analysis using Chi Square formula. Perception of community pisak village towards Management of Village Conservation Models in Nyiut Mountain Nature Reserve tend to be different. Perception of community on the management of conservation village ,odels are likely to be positive. It is proven that as many as 39 respondents ( 44,32 %) has a positive perception on the management of the Village Conservation Model conducted in Pisak village, in addition to greatly helping the community burden to get clean water, also assist in the preservation of the area they occupy today. There is a significant correlation between knowledge and cosmopolitan factors with community perception factor, but there is no correlation between age factor and perception of Pisak villagers towards the management of Village Conservation Model conducted in Pisak village.Keywords: Model Desa Konservasi, Perception, Pisak Village.
