Abstract

This Community Service is carried out from August to September 2021 in the Horse breeding area in Payakumbuh City in the form of counseling and examination of horse feces in the laboratory with the aim of this program being to provide knowledge to horse owners and stool examination in the laboratory to find out gastrointestinal parasites. This program was carried out by visiting the location of the horse stables and taking the feces of 50 horses. From the results of laboratory examinations, horses infected with gastrointestinal parasites were 82% (41/50), the prevalence was higher in mares 70% and stallions 12%. Although clinically the horse showed healthy symptoms but still had gastrointestinal parasites. It is hoped that from this activity horse breeders can improve management of maintenance, feed and also the health of horse livestock.

Abstract

The Kemuning Women Farmers Group (KWT) is a fairly active farmer group in Jorong Ampang, Nagari Piobang, Payakumbuh District, Fifty City District, West Sumatra. KWT Kemuning has group activities in agriculture and animal husbandry. In the field of animal husbandry, he is active in raising cattle which are raised in colonies. The problem found in rearing is the poor growth of the cows. This is seen from the performance of thin cows. The service activities carried out were counseling on cattle rearing patterns, cattle health checks, making complete feed fermentation based on corn plant waste and administering worm medicine. The method of service carried out is in the form of lectures, discussions and direct practice. The results obtained were complete feed fermentation based on corn plant waste liked by cows and there were indications that the cows in the group were infected with worms after a cow health examination.

This was marked by obtaining goat livestock assistance for the group and the existence of joint land processing activities carried out by the group. One of the group's potentials in raising goats is the existence of corn plants that are managed by the group. In terms of feeding goats, the group still relies on providing forage in the form of field grass or corn straw obtained during harvest. The problem found in raising goats is that there is potential that has not been utilized by the group, namely the use of corn straw as animal feed which is continuously available and the low performance of the goats. The service activities carried out include counseling about feed processing to fulfill goat nutrition, goat health checks, practice of fermenting corn straw, making feed supplements and administering worm medicine. The method of implementing service is through lectures, discussions and direct practice. Abstract

The Damang Saiyo Farmer Group is one of the farmer groups located in Batu Balang Village, Harau District, Lima Puluh Kota Regency. This group is quite active, especially in the agricultural sector. Most of the group members are active in agriculture, such as planting rice and gardening. However, there are also group members who raise livestock such as cows. Raising cattle for group members is a side activity and as family savings. Supporting natural resources such as empty land, fertile soil and easy access to green fodder in the form of grass and agricultural waste are supporting factors for raising cattle. The problems found in the Damang Saiyo Farmer Group are the lack of community knowledge about green fodder and never having processed green fodder from agricultural waste such as straw. So far, straw has not been optimally utilized as cattle feed.
