Abstract

Background of study: Delay time in arrival of ischemic stroke patients to the hospital is a special concern because the "golden period" for receiving thrombolysis therapy is missed.Aims and scope of paper: The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between knowledge, residence status, distance of residence and use of ambulances with delays time in arrival of ischemic stroke patients. Methods: The design of this study was correlational analytic with a cross-sectional design. The total population was 79 ischemic stroke patients in May 2025. The number of samples was 66 patients taken using the simple random sampling technique. Data collection using questionnaires, data analysis using the Spearman test.Result: The results of the study based on the Spearman statistical test with a significance level = 0.05, obtained the results that there was a relationship between the knowledge factor and delays time in arrival (0.001 <0.05), there was a relationship between the residence status factor and delays time  in arrival (0.001 <0.05), there was a relationship between the ambulance use factor and delays time in arrival (0.002 <0.05) and there was no relationship between distance of residence factor and delays time in arrival (0.160>0.05).Conclusion: There are many factors that cause delays time in the arrival of ischemic stroke patients. The researcher hopes that further researchers can continue research on factors that influence the delay time in arrival of ischemic stroke patients so that they can find the right solution to overcome the problem of late arrival of ischemic stroke patients.

Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a chronic disease that requires strong adherence in its management. However, dietary compliance is often influenced by demographic, psychosocial, resource, and cultural factors. The purpose of this study was to analyze the influence of demographic factors, cognition and emotion, personal preferences, resources, and culture on dietary adherence among DM patients at Bhayangkara H.S. Samsoeri Mertojoso Hospital, Surabaya. This study employed a cross-sectional design with a sample of 105 DM patients. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire and analyzed through logistic regression. The findings revealed that the majority of respondents were non-adherent to the DM diet. Demographic factors (age, sex, education, occupation, marital status) contributed 41.3% to dietary adherence. Knowledge, attitudes, and personal preferences explained 63.7% of the variation, while limited resources and negative cultural practices increased the risk of non-adherence by 27.8–41.7 times. Respondents who adhered to the dietary recommendations tended to have better-controlled blood glucose levels. Logistic regression analysis indicated that demographic factors collectively influenced dietary adherence (p = 0.000). In addition, cognition and emotion (knowledge and attitudes) along with personal preferences significantly affected DM dietary compliance (p = 0.000). Furthermore, resource constraints and cultural influences related to lifestyle and health history were also significantly associated with dietary adherence (p = 0.000). In conclusion, dietary adherence in DM is not solely a matter of individual discipline but rather the result of a complex interaction between knowledge, attitudes, social support, access to resources, and cultural values. Culturally sensitive educational approaches, strengthening family support, and human-centered interventions are essential strategies to ensure successful DM management

Abstract

Sectio caesarea was a surgical procedure that often caused psychological responses, particularly preoperative anxiety. This anxiety was an anticipatory response to perceived threats and could be influenced by coping strategies and family support. This study aimed to determine the relationship between coping strategies and family support with anxiety levels in preoperative sectio caesarea patients. This study employed a cross-sectional design conducted at Arafah Anwar Medika Hospital, Sidoarjo. A total of 35 respondents were selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected using the Brief COPE questionnaire, family support questionnaire, and the Amsterdam Preoperative Anxiety and Information Scale (APAIS). Data analysis was performed using the Spearman rho test. The results showed that most respondents had adaptive coping strategies (57.1%), while nearly half had moderate family support (42.9%) and moderate anxiety levels (37.1%). Statistical analysis indicated a significant relationship between coping strategies and anxiety levels (p < 0.05; r = -0.718), as well as between family support and anxiety levels (p < 0.05; r = -0.825). Adaptive coping strategies and higher family support were associated with lower anxiety levels in preoperative sectio caesarea patients. Strengthening psychological support and involving family members were essential to reduce patient anxiety before surgery.
