Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of the Discovery Learning model in science learning for seventh-grade students at UPT SMP 032 Karya, Pakkat District, Humbang Hasundutan Regency, Academic Year 2025/2026. This research employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive research type. The research subjects consisted of science teachers and seventh-grade students. Data collection techniques were conducted through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis used the Miles and Huberman model, which includes data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of the study showed that the implementation of the Discovery Learning model in science learning was carried out through the stages of stimulation, problem statement, data collection, data processing, verification, and generalization. The application of this learning model was able to increase students’ activity and involvement in the learning process. Students became more active in asking questions, participating in discussions, and expressing opinions during the learning activities. In addition, the teacher acted as a facilitator, motivator, and guide in helping students discover learning concepts independently. However, the implementation of Discovery Learning still faced several obstacles, such as limited learning time, inadequate learning facilities, and the presence of students who were still less active in group discussions. To overcome these obstacles, the teacher made various efforts such as providing learning motivation, guiding students directly, managing the classroom effectively, and utilizing simple learning media. Therefore, the implementation of the Discovery Learning model was able to create a more active, interesting, and meaningful science learning process for students

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the principal’s leadership practices in responding to the decline in teachers’ work ethic, describe the dynamics of teachers’ work behavior, and examine the impact of weak leadership and declining teacher work ethic on school operations and the quality of learning services at SD Negeri 173629 Simanalese. The study was motivated by recurring issues of teacher tardiness, low compliance with instructional administration, limited participation in school organizational activities, and the ineffective implementation of teacher supervision and development programs by the principal. This research employed a qualitative approach using a case study design. Data were collected through observations, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving the principal and teachers as research informants. Data were analyzed using the interactive model of Miles and Huberman, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. Data trustworthiness was ensured through source triangulation and technique triangulation. The findings revealed that the principal had implemented various supervisory and developmental efforts through verbal warnings, written reprimands, coordination meetings, and personal approaches. However, these efforts had not succeeded in producing consistent and sustainable behavioral changes among teachers. The dynamics of teachers’ work ethic were reflected in poor time discipline, inadequate completion of instructional administration, and low participation in school organizational activities. These conditions were influenced by internal factors, such as declining work motivation and job fatigue, as well as external factors, including weak organizational culture, ineffective supervision, and inconsistent enforcement of school regulations. Consequently, these conditions disrupted the learning process, reduced students’ learning time, weakened school coordination, and lowered the quality of educational services. This study concludes that strengthening principal leadership, implementing continuous teacher development, and fostering a disciplined and responsible organizational culture are essential for improving educational quality at SD Negeri 173629 Simanalese.

Abstract

The objectives of this study include: 1) to determine whether there is a partial influence of the principal's discipline on teacher performance at SMA HKBP 1 and HKBP 2 Tarutung; 2) to determine whether there is a partial influence of the principal's interpersonal communication on teacher performance at SMA HKBP 1 and HKBP 2 Tarutung; and 3) to determine whether there is a simultaneous influence of the principal's discipline and interpersonal communication on teacher performance at SMA HKBP 1 and HKBP 2 Tarutung. The method used in this study is a quantitative research method. The population is all teachers at SMA HKBP 1 and HKBP 2 Tarutung, each 27 and 23 people. The instrument trial was conducted on 20 teachers outside the research sample so that it was known that all research instruments were declared valid and reliable because they had met the validity and reliability value criteria. Data were collected with a closed questionnaire of 95 items. The results of the data analysis show that: 1) the Fcount value > Ftable (k; n-2) (2; 48) is 26.284 > 3.15, thus it is known that there is a positive and significant influence of the principal's discipline on teacher performance at SMA HKBP 1 and HKBP 2 Tarutung. The influence is 35.4%, 2) the Fcount value > Ftable (k; n-2) (2; 48) is 23.725 > 3.15, thus it is known that there is a positive and significant influence of the principal's interpersonal communication on teacher performance at SMA HKBP 1 and HKBP 2 Tarutung. The influence is 33.1%, and 3) the Fcount value > Ftable (k; n-2) (2; 48) is 16.728 > 3.15, thus it is known that there is a positive and significant influence of the principal's discipline and interpersonal communication on teacher performance at SMA HKBP 1 and HKBP 2 Tarutung. The influence is 41.6%, thus Ha is accepted and H0 is rejected
