This study is motivated by the low learning outcomes of students in the subject of History, specifically on the material of Islamic Culture at SMA 3 Central Maluku. Initial data showed that students understanding of the material had not reached the expected competency standards. Therefore, this study aims to improve student learning outcomes through the implementation of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model. The research method used is classroom action research with data collected through learning outcome tests and observations during the learning process. The subjects of the study were 11th-grade students at SMA 3 Central Maluku. The results indicate that the application of the Problem Based Learning model significantly improves students understanding and learning outcomes on Islamic Culture material. Thus, the PBL model can be an effective alternative to enhance the quality of history learning in senior high school.
