Abstract

This research aims to describe muatan lokal, a subject discussing local culture content in Indonesia, and to analyze mathematics learning process at schools in Aceh Province based on Bishop's universal mathematical activities. The collection and analysis of the data used a qualitative approach. Besides the qualitative approach, we also used an ethnomathematical approach to make a rigorous description of muatan lokal and its existence in the mathematics learning process at the schools. This research found that the current implementation of muatan lokal in Aceh was still in progress of development. In fact, however, many schools have already implemented the subject muatan lokal based on the Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture’s regulation. Furthermore, we could identify the existence of mathematics in the teaching material of muatan lokal subject. However, the connection between both muatan lokal and mathematics as subjects at school is too weak for the VII grade of junior high schools in Aceh.

Abstract

Student completeness in learning mathematics is still low and interest in learning is relatively low, because the learning media is less varied and less interesting, and there are still students who have not achieved learning outcomes above the minimum completeness criteria. The purpose of this study was to analyze the use of digital comics in improving mathematics learning outcomes. The research approach used is qualitative and the type of research used is a literature study or literature review. The stages used in this literature study research design include the focus of scientific articles, data collection, data analysis, and conclusions. Based on the results of the literature review, it shows that technology-based innovative media such as comics are learning resources sourced from objects close to students, so that students feel familiar with the media used during the learning process. Technology-based innovative media such as digital comics can increase interest in learning mathematics, by involving students' real experiences. Learning that interests students is influenced by teacher creativity. Utilization of comic media in learning mathematics can improve students' learning outcomes, through the senses of students can observe and listen to the teacher's explanation properly as exemplified by the role in comic media as digital media.

Abstract

This study explores how secondary students with positive/negative perceptions of mathematics engage with ethnomathematical concepts in Acehnese cultural artefacts. In this research the data from students’ answer sheet that was described qualitatively, and the source triangulations method leads to clarification on how valid and credible the data or information delivered in the result. Four students were selected with the composition two students consider mathematics as their friends and the others two consider mathematics as their enemies. Those four students were selected on purpose with enormous information within their answer sheet. students who love mathematics consider mathematics as their friends and mathematics is the enemies for those who hate mathematics. However, when both students who hate mathematics and love it provide cultures as a context for mathematics ideas, they can perform some idea about geometry as especially flat plane such triangles, rectangles etc. none of them mention about the connection mathematics and culture artifacts with three-dimensional plane such as blocks, prims or cubes. it also strengthens the finding that students who hate mathematics and love it, both have some ideas to think about mathematics within the cultures, but they don’t realise that.

Abstract

This research aims to identify students who hate mathematics in solving mathematical problem where culture is the context. In this research the context was Rumoh Aceh. By collecting data through various sources such as interview transcription and documentation, qualitative method is appropriate to describe how students who hate mathematics solve the mathematical problem. Students who hate mathematics, they hate mathematics is not simply because mathematics is difficult for them, rather their awareness toward mathematics itself. Roughly speaking, what they consider as not mathematics is mathematics. From several respondent who involve in this research, all of them have their own way in solving mathematical problem. In other way, all students who hate mathematics can solving mathematical problem, even all the answer is not match with the real needs of an Utoh. Utoh is a professional worker who expert in counting the total weaved rumbia leaves to cover whole roof of Rumoh Aceh. Students who consider mathematics as their enemy which means they hate mathematics cannot be said that they cannot solve mathematical problem at all, but they have the strategy to solve it, although they face some problem in the process of solving it. All of students’ answer called as alternative solution for solving mathematical problems. Finally in this research, students who hate mathematics has a good ability in making the representation of mathematical expression and this is a good information for teachers and researchers who conduct learning and research in mathematics at school.

Abstract

Student involvement in science learning is very minus if the learning provided is not meaningful and less attractive to students. Conventional learning carried out by teachers does not provide confidence in the learning process has not had an impact on learning outcomes. This research aims to provide descriptive information about comic-based integrated science implemented in grade V of SD Negeri Paya Kalui East Aceh. This type of research is qualitative descriptive. Data were collected through observation and interviews. The stages of data analysis used are data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions. The results of data analysis showed that teachers made integrated science teaching media based on comics, namely by making picture books and having words and colors from the figure of someone who seemed to be talking, thinking, and doing something. The teacher demonstrates how cartoons speak in different tones and voices as if in a story there are many who play a role, but it is the teacher who speaks, exemplifying with different tones of voice and accents. Comic-based integrated science learning has a good impact and provides a unique and fun learning nuance for students so that learning looks meaningful and gives its own meaning to students.

Abstract

The aim of this literature study aims to determine, explain and analyze the leadership style of school principals in improving teacher performance. The method for writing literature studies uses a conceptual research approach relating to ideas and theories. The stages in writing a literature study include selecting a topic, searching for literature, developing an opinion, and a literature survey. Data analysis used used content analysis. The results of the literature study found that the principal's leadership style in improving teacher discipline is a storytelling style. Apart from the storytelling style, the principal also applies a situational style. The principal's leadership style in improving teacher performance is a selling (consultative) style by directing teachers to complete duties, the principal's leadership style in improving teacher abilities, namely the participative style applied during internal teacher council meetings and other meetings and the principal's leadership style in increasing teacher responsibility, is a delegative style, namely dividing authority among members to carry out organizational tasks. It is hoped that supervisors and school principals can provide encouragement and direction in the work of discipline, commitment, ability and responsibility of teachers effectively and efficiently to improve performance in schools.
