Abstract

Papaya seeds have the ability to an antibacterial because they contain triterpenoid compounds, papain enzymes, and fatty acids such as oleic acid, palmitic acid, and linoleic acid which can moisturize the skin and shed dead skin cells so that they are suitable for making peel-off masks. The study aimed to obtain a peel-off mask formulation of papaya seed extract (Carica papaya L.) as a stable anti-acne and has good pharmaceutical properties. The research design used was laboratory experimental research. Papaya fruit seed extract peel-off masks are made in 2 formulas with variations in PVA concentrations, namely 10% and 12%. The peel-off masks obtained were tested for stability including organoleptic testing, homogeneity, viscosity, dispersion ability test, pH test, drying speed test, and primary irritation test. The results showed that papaya fruit seed extract can be made into a peel-off mask formula that meets the pharmaceutical stability test, but formula 2 shows the most optimal stability and good pharmaceutical properties compared to formula 1. In addition, the two formulas do not irritate the skin so they are safe to use when applied.

Abstract

Hair loss occurs in many people, so it can reduce the cosmetic function and protect the body and head from the environment. Hair loss is a disorder in which the number of hairs is less or more than normal. Hair tonic includes cosmetic preparations that have a liquid form with the function of maintaining hair health, stimulating hair growth, and strengthening hair. Caffeine is a substance that can stimulate hair growth. The purpose of this study was to determine the activity of a hair tonic preparation containing caffeine that can stimulate hair growth in guinea pigs. The results showed that hair tonic caffeine Formula 1 with a concentration of 0.001% with an average hair length of 18.294 mm had high effectiveness in stimulating hair growth compared to Formula 2 with a concentration of 0.005% with an average hair length of 16.610 mm.

Abstract

Carthamus tinctorius L. has antioxidant activity and contains polyphenols and flavonoids so it can be used for skin care such as face wash. The aim of this research is to formulate and evaluate a face wash preparation from water extract of Carthamus tinctorius L flowers that is physically stable. Carthamus tinctorius L water extract face wash preparations have been made in 4 formulas with different gelling agent variations, namely Carbopol and HPMC with concentrations of 1% and 1.5%. Preparation tests that have been carried out include organoleptic tests, homogeneity tests, pH tests, syneresis tests, viscosity tests, flow properties and stability tests. Research results have shown that Carthamus tinctorius L water extract can be made into a face wash preparation with a thick consistency, odorless and brown in color. The preparation that has been made is homogeneous and has a pH between 3-6. The viscosity ranges from 30.4 – 159.8 P with a plastic flow type with a yield value between 13.5 – 32.9 dyne/cm2. Syneresis tests have shown water loss between 7.13 – 19.7%. The results of the stability test have shown that the formula with gelling agent HPMC at a concentration of 1.5% has pharmaceutical properties that do not change after stress conditions.

Abstract

Dental caries is one disease that occurs both in children and adults. One of the dental caries pathogenic microbial found in cariogenic biofilm or plaques is Streptococcus mutans. Natural material is one of the alternatives which can be used to treat the disease, some of them are green tea and tangerine peel. Both contain antibacterial active components against the Streptococcus mutans. This research used the ethanol extract of green tea and tangerine peel. Activity test of both extracts showed inhibition on Streptococcus mutans and Porphyromonas gingivalis 1.6%; 3.25% and 6.4% by green extract and 20%, 25% and 30% by tangerine peel. The goal of the research was to formulate the extract ethanol of green tea and tangerine peel into pharmaceutically stable toothpaste. Toothpaste is a semisolid disperse system preparations that contain amounts of insoluble solid. One of the functions of toothpaste is to clean the teeth. Physical stability test has been done to obtain the most optimum preparations. Formulation and evaluation of physical properties including organoleptic, homogeneity, pH measurement, viscosity, foam height and spreadability. Optimation base result showed that 1% Na CMC is the most stable in consistency. The formulation then continued with formulation into preparations and carried out the stability test and physical evaluations. Based on storage condition and physical test results showed that the preparations were stable pharmaceutically.

Abstract

Stevia leaves (Stevia rebaudiana) are one of the sugar substitute plants in Indonesia that contain steviol glycosides. This study aims to determine the antibacterial activity of ethanol extract of stevia leaves (Stevia rebaudiana) against test bacteria that cause digestive tract infections using the TLC-Bioautography method. This research method was carried out experimentally to test the antibacterial activity of stevia leaves using TLC-Bioautography. The results of this study showed that ethanol extract of stevia leaves can inhibit the growth of test bacteria Salmonella typhi, Shigella dysenteriae, Escherichia coli and Vibrio cholerae. The bioautogram profile of antibacterial activity of ethanol extract of stevia leaves (Stevia rebaudiana) using TLC- on the test bacteria Shigella dysenteriae obtained 2 active spots with Rf values ​​of 0.88 and 0.27. In Salmonella typhi bacteria, 3 active spots were obtained with Rf values ​​of 0.88; 0.57 and 0.27. In Escherichia coli bacteria, 3 active spots were obtained with Rf values ​​of 0.88; 0.57 and 0.27. In Vibrio cholerae bacteria, 3 active spots were obtained with Rf values ​​of 0.88; 0.57 and 0.27. It can be concluded that stevia leaves (Stevia rebaudiana) have antibacterial activity. It is recommended to confirm the antibacterial activity of ethanol extract of stevia leaves (Stevia rebaudiana) against bacteria of several different infectious disorders.

Abstract

Skin is the outer part of the body that is directly exposed to the environment, especially sunlight such as ultraviolet radiation. The skin basically has a defense against the negative effects of UV radiation of sunlight. Excessive sun exposure to the skin can cause skin damage that is acute (fast) and chronic (long). One of the ways used to prevent these negative effects is to use suncreen with a high SPF value. Syzygium aqueum and Muntingia calabura L. are plants that can be utilized as natural sunscreen active ingredients due to the content of polyphenolic compounds and high antioxidant activity values in their leaves. The purpose of this study was to determine the SPF value of ethanol extracts of Syzygium aqueum and Muntingia calabura L. and its protection category. Determination of SPF value was carried out by UV-VIS spectrophotometric method at UV B wavelength (290-320 nm), then the absorbance value obtained was calculated into the Mansur mathematical equation. Determination of sunscreen protection category based on SPF value refers to the provisions of the Food Drug Administrations (FDA). The results showed that the highest SPF value of Syzygium aqueum was obtained at a concentration of 1000 ppm, namely 46.183 with ultra protection category and the highest SPF value of Muntingia calabura L. at a concentration of 1500 ppm, namely 47.975 with ultra protection protection category. Based on these results, Syzygium aqueum and Muntingia calabura L. have the potential to be developed as sunscreen active ingredients with ultra protection category.

Abstract

Peresepan obat bentuk racikan pada pasien anak memiliki risiko yang lebih besar dibandingkan pasien dewasa sehingga penting untuk melakukan pengkajian resep. Pengkajian resep merupakan kegiatan dalam pelayanan kefarmasian untuk mengidentifikasi dan menyelesaikan masalah terkait obat sebelum obat disiapkan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengkaji resep racikan pediatri di Rumah Sakit Umum Daerah (RSUD) “X” Makassar Periode Januari-Juni 2023. Metode penelitian ini bersifat deskriptif non eksperimental dengan pengumpulan data secara retrospektif dan melakukan pengkajian terhadap tiga aspek yang meliputi persyaratan Administrasi, Farmaseutik dan klinis pada 177 lembar resep yang telah dipilih berdasarkan kriteria inklusi. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa terdapat ketidaklengkapan 3 dari 11 aspek administrasi yaitu berat badan pasien (19,20%), tinggi badan pasien (1,12%) dan nomor izin praktek dokter (55,36). Persyaratan farmasetik menunjukan beberapa aspek yang belum terpenuhi hingga 100% yaitu kekuatan sediaan (45,50%) serta terdapatnya beberapa obat yang berpotensi mengalami instabilitas berupa potensi higroskopis (39,30%) dan fotolisis (81,26%). Terdapat potensi ketidaksesuaian dosis obat pada persyaratan klinis yaitu potensi overdoses (32,39%) dan underdoses (7,32%). Tidak ditemukan adanya dublikasi obat namun terdapat potensi interaksi pada 10 jenis kombinasi berupa interaksi minor (35,60%) maupun moderate (64,40).

Abstract

Pengelolaan obat golongan narkotika, psikotropika dan prekursor merupakan suatu rangkaian kegiatan yang terdiri dari pengadaan, penerimaan, penyimpanan, penyerahan, pengembalian, pemusnahan, hingga pelaporan obat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memperoleh gambaran sistem pengelolaan obat golongan narkotika, psikotropika, dan prekursor di Instalasi Farmasi Rumah Sakit Hapsah Kabupaten Bone. Penelitian ini bersifat deskriptif kualitatif dengan membandingkan data hasil observasi, wawancara dan pengumpulan dokumen dengan regulasi standar yang berlaku di Indonesia yaitu Peraturan Badan Pengawas Obat dan Makanan Nomor 24 Tahun 2021 dan Peraturan Menteri Kesehatan Nomor 5 Tahun 2023. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian yaitu pada aspek pengadaan, pengembalian, pemusnahan dan pelaporan sudah termasuk dalam kategori sangat baik dengan diperoleh persentase 100%. Hal ini telah sesuai dengan regulasi standar di Indonesia. Namun, pada aspek penerimaan, penyimpanan, dan penyerahan masih terdapat beberapa ketidaksesuaian dengan perolehan persentase pada aspek penerimaan 91,6%, aspek penyimpanan 80%, dan aspek penyerahan 94,4%. Untuk Rumah Sakit perlu ditingkatkan lebih baik lagi terkait sistem pengelolaan yang belum sesuai serta mempertahankan sistem pengelolaan obat yang sudah baik.

Abstract

Pediatrics is a group that is vulnerable to disease because the immune system and physiological functions of organs are not yet fully developed. Pediatric patients usually have multiple medication problems. Medication errors can occur in each treatment process, both in the prescribing process (prescribing), reading prescriptions (transcribing), preparation to delivery of drugs (dispensing), and in the process of using drugs (administration). The location of this research was at Lasinrang Hospital, Pinrang Regency based on the Regulation of the Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia No. 72 of 2016 concerning Pharmaceutical Service Standards in Hospitals including administrative aspects, pharmaceutical aspects, and clinical aspects. The type of research used with descriptive non-experimental method with retrospective data collection, then observed based on administrative, pharmacetic, and clinical conformity. The results of the study in the administrative aspect showed 100% completeness, namely the patient's name, patient's age, patient's gender, doctor's name, doctor's address, prescription date, and prescription origin unit. The pharmacetic aspect showed 100% except for the strength of the drug 50.32% and the amount of the drug 31.04%. The clinical aspect showed 100% completeness of the accuracy of drug use. In terms of dose accuracy, there were drugs that were underdosed once 26.14% and daily 6.86%, right dose once 26.79% and daily 20.91%, exceeding the usual dose once 47.38% and daily 72.22%, and overdose once 11.76% and daily 31.69%.

Abstract

Excessive exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation can lead to various skin issues, ranging from premature aging to an increased risk of skin cancer. As a result, the exploration of natural ingredients for UV protection has gained growing attention in cosmetic research. This study aims to evaluate the UV-absorbing potential of ethanolic extracts from Moringa oleifera Lam leaves and Ocimum basilicum L. leaves by determining their Sun Protection Factor (SPF) values. Using spectrophotometric analysis across different concentrations, both extracts demonstrated significant potential as natural sunscreen agents. At a concentration of 1500 ppm, the highest SPF values were recorded at 45.683 for Moringa oleifera Lam and 47.037 for Ocimum basilicum L. These findings highlight the promising potential of both plant extracts as active ingredients in sun-protective skincare formulations
