Abstract

This class action research seeks to address the issue of inadequate learning outcomes among students in class VIII-B at SMPN 56 Surabaya, specifically in the context of social studies related to geographical conditions and their impact on natural diversity and community life. The study employed a Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model, which was integrated with Learner Worksheets (LKPD), involving 35 students as participants. Data were collected through various methods, including tests, observations, and documentation. Data analysis revealed a notable improvement in student performance following the first cycle, with learning outcomes reaching 66% and an average score of 72. This was further enhanced in the second cycle, where learning outcomes increased to 86% with an average score of 83. Furthermore, the observations revealed an increase in both student engagement and enthusiasm throughout the learning process. As a result, it can be inferred that the application of the PBL learning model in conjunction with LKPD constitutes an effective strategy for improving student learning outcomes in social studies.

Abstract

This research aims to improve the learning outcomes of grade VIII students of SMPN 56 Surabaya by applying a mind mapping learning design. This research is included in the collaborative classroom action research (PTKK). This is done during two cycles, where the cycle consists of planning, implementation, action, evaluation and reflection. The data obtained to conduct PTKK research is the learning outcomes of students taken from the results of the application using a learning method in the form of mind mapping. The results of this study have explained that with the results of learning improvement that has been carried out through the second cycle, it can be concluded that through the application of learning using mind mapping, it can provide changes in learning outcomes that increase in social studies subjects in grade VIII of SMPN 56 Surabaya. This is evidenced by the results of learning completeness that have been obtained by students in the first cycle stage, which is 47% while in the second cycle stage it is 86%.

Abstract

This Community Service Program (PKM) aims to enhance the pedagogical competence of Social Studies (IPS) teachers in Lamongan Regency in implementing literacy-based learning and assessment. The program was initiated in response to teachers’ limited understanding of comprehensive literacy concepts and their challenges in designing learning strategies and authentic assessment tools that measure students’ critical thinking skills. The activity was conducted through workshops and sharing sessions using participatory approaches, including interactive lectures, group discussions, and practical sessions on designing literacy-based lesson plans and assessment instruments. The results indicate a significant improvement in teachers’ understanding and ability to apply literacy principles in Social Studies instruction. Most participants were able to identify literacy elements, design learning activities that promote critical thinking, and develop authentic literacy-based assessment tools. Furthermore, the training fostered collaboration among teachers through the MGMP as a sustainable professional learning community. Overall, this program contributes to improving the quality of Social Studies learning in Lamongan Regency and serves as a best practice model that can be replicated in other regions.

Abstract

The Gunungsewu Karst is a landscape that is highly vulnerable to degradation. Infiltration rate is a critical factor in efforts to protect and conserve karst environments, however, studies focusing specifically on infiltration processes at the valley floor of karst systems, particularly in relation to the morphological characteristics of the Gunungsewu karst, remain limited. This study aims to examine the characteristics of soil infiltration rates at the bottom of the Gunungsewu karst valleys based on their morphological units. Field measurements of infiltration rates were conducted using a double-ring infiltrometer, and infiltration parameters were calculated using the Horton model. Sampling was carried out according to the morphological classification of the Gunungsewu Karst, which includes rounded karst cone units (K1), elongated karst cone units (K2), and trapezoidal karst cone units (K3). Data analysis employed a descriptive approach based on data distribution, visualized using box-and-whisker plots and line graphs. The results indicate distinct differences in infiltration rate characteristics among the morphological units. Infiltration rates across all sites ranged from 0.10 cm min⁻¹ to 0.65 cm min⁻¹. The highest infiltration rates were observed sequentially in the K1, K2, and K3 units. Variations in infiltration rate characteristics within the study area are strongly influenced by morphological features, lithology, vegetation cover, and land use. These findings enhance the understanding of infiltration rate characteristics in karst environments and provide a scientific basis for the development of sustainable strategies for karst environmental protection and conservation.Received: 2025-04-10  Revised: 2025-10-10  Accepted: 2025-12-16 Published: 2025-12-31
