Abstract

Learning in Vocational Schools is a pioneer for the industry to develop. DKV students with the development of the times also need to know the development of technology. So, knowledge of illustrations in digital form is important in learning. The problem at SMK N 9 Surakarta majoring in DKV based on a questionnaire of 55.8% shows that illustration material is difficult to understand. This study aims to develop teaching materials in the form of interactive android-based media for vocational school students is expected to help students learn it easily and can be accessed anywhere. The research method uses research and development research with the stages of problem identification, analysis, design, and development. The results of the study are in the form of a mobile learning UI design with teaching material content packaged in an application with visualization of color elements, typography, and illustrations. The Wireframe design of the illustration material application is made with a storyboard containing the initial display, material competencies, works, questions, and references. The visual elements in the application use blue, Tw Cen MT and Futura fonts. The illustrations used are cartoons, caricatures, and comics. The prototype splash screen is blue and consists of various types of illustration materials. The benefits generated from the application are that students learn it with an easily UI display.

Abstract

In addition to contributing to economic growth, the textile industry has the potential to produce large amounts of fabric waste, which often ends up in trash cans and pollutes the environment. Responding to these conditions, this study aims to explore the use of fabric waste as the main material in the creation of fiber art, evaluate environmental and economic benefits, and see positive impacts on society. This research uses an art practice-based approach to create fiber art from waste materials using weaving, collage, and patchwork techniques. The method includes collecting and selecting fabric waste based on the type of textile material, applying various artistic techniques, and analyzing the aesthetics and functionality of the artwork made. The results of the study show that textile waste created through a combination of weaving, collage, and patchwork techniques can produce artistic and aesthetic fiber artworks.  This fiber artwork contributes to the concept of sustainability in fine art and emphasizes that fabric waste can be converted into creative products to extend the life cycle of materials. Thus, it can open new opportunities in the recycling-based creative industry.

Abstract

Ikat weaving is one of the Indonesian traditional textile arts commonly found in various parts of the country. Each region typically has its own motifs, designed manually and spontaneously without predesign stages. Therefore, developing a method to design weaving motifs is necessary to avoid spontaneous, monotonous products. This work attempted to explore the most efficient method in the ikat weaving design process, which would be helpful for Indonesian ikat weaving industries to deliver more diverse ikat weaving designs. To this end, we conducted a study in one of the ikat weaving workshops in Sukoharjo Regency, Indonesia. This participatory action research and development produced Adaptive ikat weaving templates that could be used to create various designs with different sizes. The template was designed entirely digitally using Firealpaca. The color application was also performed. The development of the digital ikat weaving design method is expected to encourage ikat weaving industries to present fresher, appealing motifs.Ikat weaving is one of the Indonesian traditional textile arts commonly found in various parts of the country.
