Abstract

Sodium alginate was isolated from brown algae (Sargassum crassifoluim Mont) which  collected from Sungai Nipah Beach West Sumatera using Na2CO3 3% for 5 days at a temperature of 50C. Filtrate obtained then added with 8% CaCl2 solution with variation in leght of maceration for t is 3, 5 and 7 days. Sodium generated per each long imaceration  was 14:08%, 26.67% and 30.56%. The results showed that with increasing in macerating time, the yield obtained sodium alginate will also increase. Highest contain obtained from 7 days maceration. Sodium alginat obtained then  characterized that includes checking the purity, particle size determination, development index, examination IR spectra, viscosity and flow properties

Abstract

Griseofulvin cream formulation and it’s penetration test using Franzs difusion cell has been done. This cream formulation was using two different types of base cream, such as water/oil (w/o) and  oil/water (o/w) base cream type. The vertical type cells of Franz difusion cells, was used for the penetration test and it’s quantity determination was done by using spectrophotometry methods. The result  showed,  that griseofulvin cream with water/oil (w/o) base has the highest of the griseofulvin penetration quantity. The griseofulvin penetration quantity and it’s capacity of penetrating toward water/oil (w/o) and  oil/water (o/w) base are 7,447  µg/mL and 18,54%, then  5,724 µg/mL and 14,39% respectively for 90 minutes periods time. It showed that the cream type can influence the griseofulvin penetration from it’s base. From both cream types, water/oil (w/o) type gives better penetration than oil/water (o/w) cream.

Abstract

Microencapsulation of Carbamazepine using HPMC as a polymer by emulsification solvent evaporation method had been studied. Microcapsules had been made into 3 formulation with 3 ratio variation between Carbamazepine and HPMC, 1:1; 1:1.5; 1:2. Microcapsules were evaluated by SEM, DTA, FT-IR, particle sized distribution, drug content and dissolution profile. The evaluation result showed that HPMC as a polymer of sustained release was influence characteristic microcapsules of Carbamazepine. Microcapsules were white to slightly yellow and almost perfectly spherical. Disolution profiles of microcapsules showed that the formula containing the greatest amount of HPMC gave the slower release of Carbamazepine. Resistance release of biggest drug shown by formula 3 giving disolution during 6 hour counted 24.5296 %. Dissolution kinetics of microcapsules allowed Higuchi equation, where the realese of Carbamazepine  from microcapsules were controlled by diffution process.

Abstract

Analysis of the synthetic sweetener sodium saccharin and sodium cyclamate in tea packaging has been done. The content of synthetic sweeteners are identified by color reactions and test microcrystals. The results obtained were compared with the reference standard material. Of the four samples tested, obtained three samples containing sodium cyclamate, while the other samples did not contain sodium cyclamate and sodium saccharin. Levels are determined by sodium cyclamate spektrofoto, ether UV-Vis. Levels of sodium cyclamate were obtained not exceed the maximum limit allowed by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia is 0.3% for soft drinks.

Abstract

Has been researched about  microencapsulation of paracetamol with solvent evaporation method using polymer sodium carboxymetil cellulose (NaCMC). Determination of paracetamol level carried out by UV Spectrophotometer at a wavelength of 243,5 nm, the dissolution test using solution phosphate buffer with pH 5,8 and the method used is Metoda Dayung. From the research result, obtained dissolution rate microcapsules of paracetamol on formula 1 is higher than formula 2 and 3. This is because in formula 2 and formula 3 show the addition of coating as a microcapsule wall – forming wich will reduce the speed of drug release. Model kinetics of active ingredient release from microcapsules of paracetamol following the zero order and first order.

Abstract

The research about solid dispersion test of coffein used Polvinil pyrrolidone (PVP) K-30. In the current study using solid dispersion coffein using Polyvinyl pyrrolidone (PVP) K-30 and a mixture of physics. coffein manufacture solid dispersion using Polyvinyl pyrrolidone (PVP) K-30's, using the method of dissolution. The parameters tested were melting range, lift angle, specific gravity, Hausner factor, compressibility, porosity, water content, particle size distribution, the absorption of water, microscopic analysis and dissolution. Result of research coffein solid dispersion system using Polyvinyl pyrrolidone (PVP) K-30 can increase the solubility Kofein compared with the mixed form of physics. The percent of dissolution of the best in the 35th minute was the solid dispersion formula 4: 6, amounting to 79.34% compared with other formula.

Abstract

The study on paracetamol microencapsulation by solvent evaporation method using hidroxy prophyl methil celluloce (HPMC) as a polimer has been done. The paracetamol Quantitation by UV spectrofotometer at 243 nm, using phosphate buffer pH 5,8 as the dissolution medium. The result showed that 1st formula’s dissolution rate is higher than 2nd and 3nd formulas, because the HPMC content of those formula are higher than the 1st formula, so paracetamol as a core are coored thicker, so that lower in drug rate releasing. The kinetic releasing mechanism of active ingredient from the microcapsule following the zero order, first order and Higuchi equation.

Abstract

Preparation and characterization of inclusion complex of amlodipine besylat with β - cyclodextrin has been done. Preparation of the inclusion complex was carried kneading method. Formed inclusion complex was characterized by X-ray diffraction, FT - IR spectrophotometer, Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), and the dissolution test. Data from X-ray diffraction, FT - IR, SEM can be concluded that inclusion complexes with kneading method give the best results. The dissolution efficient  results showed that the inclusion complex of amlodipine besylat - β - cyclodextrin with a kneading method increased significantly when compared with the active ingredient and the mixture of physics.

Abstract

It has done research on increasing the dissolution rate of solid dispersion system Ibuprofen with polymer Polyethylenglycols 6000 (PEG 6000). Solid dispersion system prepared by melting method with a ratio of raw materials Ibuprofen - PEG 6000, namely : 6:4, 7:3, 8:2, and 9:1. As a comparison was made with the physical mixture of the same composition. The powder mixture of physics and solid dispersion system properties of solids characterized by spectroscopic analysis, SEM analysis, DTA analysis, and X-ray diffraction analysis. Dissolution test method is determined by a basket. The results showed that the powder solid dispersion system can improve the physicochemical properties of Ibuprofen. Dissolution profiles showed that the 7:3 solid dispersion system powder in the 45th minute to increase the dissolution rate compared to the powder mixture of physics.
