Abstract

Seaweed was a source of vitamin C and E. They were an antioxidant contained in seaweed. The objective of this study was to determine of vitamins (C and E) in the seaweed porridge of E. cottonii and T. conoides were thought to have potential as raw material for making sunscreen cream. The methods were included total microbial analysis, vitamin C and E analysis on seaweed porridge. The results of a total microbial assay on E. cottonii was 8,7x103 colony/g while on T. conoides was 3,5x104 colony/g. They were the safe category of microbial test. The content of vitamin C on E. cottonii and T. conoides (1: 1) on seaweed porridge was 0,07 mg/100 gram, while vitamin E content obtained is 10 mg/100 gram.

Abstract

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat perbedaan struktur komunitas fitoplankton pada lahan pascatambang bauksit serta lahan basah alami di Pulau Bintan. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada bulan Januari 2017 di kecamatan Kijang (lahan pascatambang bauksit) dan kecamatan Toapaya (lahan basah alami), Kabupaten Bintan. Penentuan titik sampling dilakukan menggunakan metode purposive sampling. Setiap lokasi terdiri atas 3 stasiun. Perbedaan stasiun ditentukan berdasarkan pertimbangan tipe lahan basah, yaitu pada waduk, sungai, dan rawa. Pengambilan sampel plankton dilakukan dengan metode statis dan pencacahan dengan metode sensus. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diketahui bahwa pada lahan pascatambang bauksit (Kijang) ditemukan 40 jenis fitoplankton yang tergolong ke dalam 10 kelas dan 6 filum. Keanekaragaman pada lokasi ini cenderung rendah dengan keseragaman yang sedang (labil) dan tingkat dominansi rendah. Sementara itu, pada lahan basah alami (Toapaya) ditemukan 35 jenis fitoplankton yang tergolong ke dalam 10 kelas dan 7 filum. Keanekaragaman pada lokasi ini cenderung rendah dengan tingkat keseragaman yang bervariasi yaitu rendah (stasiun 1), tinggi (stasiun 2), dan sedang (stasiun 3), serta memiliki tingkat dominasi yang cenderung rendah.

Abstract

Fikobliprotein merupakan bagian dari Spirulina sp. berisi biopigmen alami seperti fikosianin (CPC), fikoeritrin (FE), dan allofikosainin (APC) yang memiliki banyak manfaat seperti antikanker, antibakteri, antioksidan, antimelanogenik, antidiabetes, dan antiinflamasi. Pemanfaatan peranan tersebut perlu didukung dengan cara melakukan kegiatan kultur dalam keadaan terkontrol dan memperhatikan parameter lingkungannya seperti nutrisi yang tinggi dan kadar nitrogen. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh pupuk alternatif dari kombinasi pupuk anorganik (urea, plant catalys, giberelic acid) dan air cucian beras terhadap kandungan dari fikobiliprotein pada Spirulina sp. Prosedur analisis yang dilakukan dalam penelitiaan ini, yaitu : 1) pengukuran nilai optical density (OD), 2) analisis konsentrasi fikobiliprotein (fikosianin (PC), fikoeritrin (PE), dan allofikosianin (APC) dengan perlakuan yang diberikan k- (Kontrol negatif) tanpa pupuk; k+ (Kontrol Positif) pupuk walne 0,5 mL; A (1% pupuk anorganik dan 1 mL/L air cucian beras); B (1% pupuk anorganik dan 3 mL/L air cucian beras); C (1% pupuk anorganik dan 5 mL/L air cucian beras); D (1% pupuk anorganik dan 7 mL/L air cucian beras); E (1% pupuk anorganik dan 9 mL/L air cucian beras). Pupuk kombinasi yang digunakan dalam penelitian memberikan pengaruh terhadap proses kultur dan kandungan fikobiliprotein pada Spirulina sp.. Proses panen pada kultur Spirulina sp. dilakukan pada hari ke-5 dari proses kultur dengan hasil terbaik berada pada perlakuan E dengan nilai kadar fikosianin (C-PC), fikoeritrin (PE), allofikosianin (APC), dan fikobiliprotein berturut-turut adalah 0,782±0,153mg/mL, 0,055±0,007 mg/mL, 0,312±0,033, mg/mL, 1,149 mg/mL. Abstract

This study aims to determine the level of consumer preference and microbiological activity of the formulations of T. conoides and C. asiatica in hydrating toner preparations. Hydrating toner preparations are the easiest and cheapest cosmetics to make, so they can be the initial stage of research in determining consumer preferences. The stages of this research were preparation of T. conoides, extraction of C. asiatica, formulation and hedonic scale testing and microbiological activity. The parameters tested were comparisons between T. conoides and C. asiatica 1:1 (F1), 2:1 (F2), 1:2 (F3) and preparations without these ingredients (F0). The results of the research on the aroma, F1 is least preferred. The color parameter most preferred panelists is F0. F3 was the most preferred hydrating toner by the panelists for the sticky feeling and the favorite parameter with the most preferred toner is F3. The results of microbial activity F0, F1 & F2 are not suitable for use because they have more than 105 contaminants and F3 are still safe to use, therefore F3 was the best based on the tests performed.

Abstract

Cookies were made using mocaf flour and Turbinaria decurrens flour with the addition of Chlorella vulgaris flour. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of different substitution ratios of Chlorella vulgaris flour, mocaf flour and Turbinaria decurrens flour on chemical and organoleptic characteristics, as well as its benefits as information in making functional food to meet daily nutritional needs. This study used an experimental method with a comparison of mocaf flour, Turbinaria decurrens flour, and Chlorella vulgaris flour consisting of 4 treatment levels, namely control (85%: 15%), C1 (84%: 15%: 1%), C2 (82%: 15%: 3%), and C3 (80%: 15%: 5%). The cookies acceptability test of the four formulas was conducted using the hedonic test. The selected formula was determined based on the preferences of 30 panelists. Based on the results of the study, it is known that cookies with treatment C1 with a ratio of mocaf flour: Turbinaria decurrens flour: Chlorella vulgaris flour (84%: 15%: 1%) is the best formula and contains 2.50% ash content, 39.22% fat content, 8.54 protein content. The most accepted by panelists is cookies with treatment C3 which has a moisture content of 3.40%, ash content of 2.76%, fat content of 42.36%, protein content of 6.62, and crude fiber of 6.75.

Abstract

Hormophysa triquetra seaweed is one of the marine natural resources that has not been utilized optimally by society. H. triquetra seaweed has a dominant pigment, namely fucoxanthin, which has anti-cancer and anti-obesity properties. Seaweed is widely used as a cosmetic product by utilizing its ingredients. H. triquetra seaweed contains flavonoids, phenols as antioxidants which are able to repair damaged hair cells and produce skin tissue which is conducive to hair growth, besides the vitamin C content which can increase blood circulation and provide nutrition for hair follicles. Aleurites moluccana candlenut oil contains high levels of oleic acid and has activity as a hair growth stimulant which has been widely used for generations as a hair tonic. In addition, the antioxidant properties of candlenut oil's oleic acid are believed to slow hair loss and accelerate hair growth. The aim of this research is to determine the formulation and characteristics of the best hair tonic made from H. triquetra seaweed and candlenut extract as a hair growth agent. A completely randomized design with 4 treatments and 3 replications was used in this experiment. The best results were in the F0 treatment because it showed good physical stability in the test animals and fast hair length growth among other treatments because the samples used contained the highest seaweed extract and contained antioxidants which could protect hair and maintain good hair pigmentation.

Abstract

Formalin merupakan bahan tambahan pangan yang berbahaya bagi organ tubuh manusia apabila dikonsumsi. Tujuan utama dari kegiatan ini adalah untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan kesadaran masyarakat di Pulau Pramuka, Kepulauan Seribu, tentang bahaya penggunaan formalin pada produk hasil perikanan. Metode pelaksanaan yang digunakan dalam kegiatan sosialisasi secara umum terdiri atas tahap persiapan, tahap sosialisasi dan tahap evaluasi. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pengetahuan dan pemahaman masyarakat setelah dilakukan kegiatan sosialisasi. Terlihat ada 3 partisipan mengalami peningkatan sebesar 100%. Kemudian ada 6 partisipan yang mengalami peningkatan sebesar 80%, 2 partisipan mengalami peningkatan 70%, 3 partisipan yang mengalami peningkatan 60%, 4 partisipan yang masing-masing mengalami peningkatan 50% dan 40%, 3 partisipan yang mengalami peningkatan 30%. Secara keseluruhan rata-rata peningkatan pengetahuan dan pemahaman responden sebesar 60%.
