Abstract

This study aims to describe the cohesion, coherence, thematic progression and the unity of meanings of the texts in the tenth grade of vocational high school textbook. There are twenty five texts in English textbook published by LP2IP as the data source. This study is a descriptive qualitative discourse analysis. The finding show that the high percentage of cohesive devices is reference and repetition, which means that the texts are cohesive enough. The use of reference and coherence contribute the unity of meanings grammatically and lexically. The high percentage of reiteration theme in the texts means that the texts use simple sentence. The use of simple sentence is because the readers are students of tenth grade vocational high school. There are five out of twenty five texts that have problem in thematic progression. 80% texts are unified, and 20 % are problematic text. The problems occur because of the overuse of reiteration theme and the unconnected idea of the clauses. As a material in teaching and learning, texts should be unified to make the students easy to understand.

Abstract

This study aims at investigating the effects of Student Team Achievement Division Cooperative Learning (STAD CL) at eleventh grade students of Senior High School 1 Kudus and finding solutions and strategies to make teachers have a formed opinion of the use of STAD in delivering the subject matter while teaching to make more it effective.This study was experimental research. The population of this study was the eleventh year students of Senior High School 1 Kudus in the Academic Year 2015/2016. There were five classes from XI-A to XI -E. Each class had 35 students, so the total population were 175 students. Meanwhile the samples of this study were eighty students from four classes which were selected based on the historical factors and pre-existing ability. 80 students were choosen to be a sample, 40 as experimental group and 40 as control group. Both groups were given the pre-test to measure students' reading skill and after several times of treatments, both groups were given the post-test.The results of the study showed that there was significant difference between the means of experimental and control groups on the reading achievement. Hence, STAD CL was more effective than conventional in the way that mostly students developed their reading performance in the classroom. Further study may also be conducted to determine whether teachers’ use of STAD CL appears to reduce student anxiety and stress in the classroom to improve students’ reading or even other skills, retention, and student-teacher relationships.AbstractPenelitian ini bertujuan

Abstract

Salah satu indikasi siswa bermasalah adalah berkaitan dengan kecerdasan emosi. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui bagaimana kecerdasan emosi pada siswa yang bermasalah di sekolah. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kuantitatif deskriptif dengan menggunakan skala kecerdasan emosi dan kuesioner untuk mengidentifikasi masalah siswa. Jumlah subjek sebanyak 120 siswa, dengan menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pada siswa dengan masalah membolos, kesulitan belajar pada bidang tertentu, bertengkar dan berkelahi dengan teman sekolah, mencontek, tidak mengerjakan tugas, dan minum-minuman keras tahap awal (ringan) memiliki kecerdasan emosi tinggi, pada siswa dengan masalah berkelahi antar sekolah, kesulitan belajar karena gangguan dikeluarga, minum-minuman keras tahap pertengahan, mencuri, dan melakukan tindak asusila (sedang) memiliki kecerdasan emosi rendah, dan pada siswa dengan masalah kecanduan alkohol, penyalahgunaan narkotika, melakukan tindak kriminalitas, percobaan bunuh diri, dan perkelahian dengan senjata tajam atau senjata api (berat) memiliki kecerdasan emosi rendah.Kata kunci: Kecerdasan emosi, siswa bermasalah, sekolahOne of indications of student delinquency is related by emotional intelligence. The purpose of this research is to describe the emotional intelligence in students who have problems in school. The research method used quantitative descriptive using emotional intelligence scale and questionnaires to identify problem students. The number of subjects is 120 students, using purposive sampling technique. The results showed that the students with hooky problems, difficulties in a particular field, fights with a schoolmate, cheating, not do the homework, drinking alcohol early stage (low) have high emotional intelligence. The students with a problems fights with another schools, difficulty learning caused by disruption in the family, drinking alcohol at mid-stage, stealing, committing immoral behaviour (medium) have low emotional intelligence. And the student with the problem of alcoholism, drug abuse, committing a crime, suicide attempts, fights with a weapons or firearms (high) have low emotional intelligence.Keywords : Emotional intelligence, student delinquency, school

Abstract

Based on the researcher's interest in the ability of students 'learning styles that can be used with Visual, Auditory, and Kinesthetic learning models (VAK) is an appropriate way to improve students' science process skills, so students can feel comfortable and not easily feel bored because rarely once the teacher in his learning activities uses all three learning styles. And based on the theory of Jean Paget, Accelerated Learning, and Bruner. The purpose of this study was to determine the improvement of students' science process skills in temperature and heat material through VAK learning. The design of this study was quasi-experimental with the population of all fifth grade elementary school students in Cimaung sub-district. The sample was SDN Jagabaya 02, VA class as the experimental class and VB class as the control class.  The instruments used were science process skills tests, student response questionnaires, guidelines for observing student activities and teacher performance. Based on the results of the study, there were differences in the improvement of science process skills of students between those using the VAK model using conventional learning models.

Abstract

This research seeks to comprehend the impact of information technology (IT) utilization on the performance of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Malang. The study investigates the perceptions of SMEs stakeholders through a survey involving 90 SMEs respondents in Malang. Employing a questionnaire and utilizing the Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) method for data analysis, the research reveals positive and significant outcomes for latent variables such as performance expectations, business expectations, social influence, hedonic motivation, and habits concerning SMEs behavior in adopting information technology, based on the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT 2). However, the latent variable of price value does not exert a significant influence on SMEs behavioral interest in adopting information technology. Additionally, SMEs behavioral interest positively and significantly influences their usage behavior in utilizing information technology, and the subsequent usage behavior has a positive and significant effect on SME performance.

Abstract

YouTube video is one alternative solution in teaching speaking during pandemic. This study attempts to find the use of YouTube videos to improve speaking skill of students and how teaching and learning process using YouTube videos are implemented in the class. A classroom action research was conducted to first semester college students of Muhammadiyah University of Kudus in 2020. The population of this study was all non-English program and the samples were 85 students in redundant class chosen using purposive sampling. The data were obtained from speaking assessment and interview and later analyzed by using constant comparative method and descriptive statistic. This study showed that YouTube video as English learning material improved speaking skill of students including fluency, vocabulary, pronunciation, grammar, and content. Therefore, it can be concluded that the use of YouTube Video is able to improve the students’ speaking skill during online learning in pandemic Covid-19. Further study may concern on the use of YouTube Video to teach other English skills like reading and writing.

Abstract

Bioflocculation is a harvesting technique that employs flocculant agents such as bacteria and microalgae. The benefit is the absence of a chemical-added flocculant. Because bacteria need a particular medium, microalgae flocculant agents are more effective. This study used Anabaena sp. to collect fat, protein, and carbohydrates from the Glagah consortium. Three replications of those microalgae were grown in 300 ml of Bold Basal Medium culture for eight days. On the day of harvest, flocculant microalgae (Anabaena sp.) and non-flocculant microalgae (Glagah) were combined to accomplish flocculation. On the day of harvest, parameters were observed by combining Anabaena sp. with the Glagah consortium in the ratios 1: 1, 0.5: 1, and 0.25: 1. There were three times of each parameter test. Utilizing a wavelength of 750 nm, the proportion of precipitation was calculated spectrophotometrically. Bligh and Dyer were used to measure the lipids. The phenol sulfate technique was used to calculate the amount of carbohydrates. By employing the Bradford method, proteins were quantified. Biofocculation percentages and carbohydrate content were optimum on a ratio of 0.25:1. Lipid and protein content were optimum on a ratio of 1:1.

Abstract

Reformasi birokrasi merupakan upaya dasar manajemen yang diharapkan akan membawa hasil yang baik dalam perubahan sistem dan struktur. Reformasi birokrasi yang efektif bergantung pada informasi melalui jaringan komunikasi interpersonal. Sebagian besar penelitian sebenarnya telah mempelajari struktur dan pentingnya penyampaian layanan publik, namun mengabaikan keterkaitan interaksi antara anggota jaringan. Padahal meningkatnya kompleksitas dalam manajemen publik telah menghasilkan pertumbuhan jaringan aktor yang beroperasi secara saling bergantung, secara bersama-sama menghasilkan layanan publik. Selain itu pengalaman empiris proses reformasi birokrasi beberapa negara juga mengungkapkan bahwa reformasi birokrasi terutama dipengaruhi oleh interaksi politik birokrat dan politisi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui keterkaitan 38 Kabupaten/Kota di Jawa Timur dalam indeks reformasi birokrasi. Metode analisis yang digunakan adalah autokorelasi spasial. Hasil analisis menunjukkan terdapat keterkaitan beberapa wilayah di Jawa Timur dalam indeks reformasi birokrasi. Yaitu Kota Malang dan Kabupaten Sidoarjo pada tahun 2018, Kabupaten Sampang tahun 2018, serta Kabupaten Situbondo dan Kabupaten Sampang tahun 2020. Perkembangan pelaksanaan reformasi birokrasi Pemerintah Kabupaten/Kota di Jawa Timur tahun 2018-2022 terus meningkat, walaupun belum signifikan. Oleh sebab itu upaya peningkatan indeks reformasi birokrasi harus terus dilakukan.

Abstract

Di SMK Bina Am Ma'Mur, evaluasi kinerja guru masih dilakukan secara manual dan sering menghadapi tantangan seperti subjektivitas dan inkonsistensi. Pendekatan Simple Additive Weighting (SAW) dipakai guna membuat sistem pendukung keputusan (SPK) yang dapat memberi evaluasi kinerja objektif berdasar faktor-faktor seperti disiplin, ketidakhadiran, jumlah jam mengajar, kerja ekstra, dan pengembangan profesional. Skor akhir dihasilkan dengan menghitung bobot setiap kriteria berdasarkan kepentingan relatifnya. Administrasi sekolah dapat menghitung peringkat kinerja guru secara lebih adil dan akurat dengan memakai pendekatan SAW. Metode pengujian kotak hitam digunakan untuk menguji sistem, memperlihatkan sistem tersebut memenuhi kebutuhan pengguna dan beroperasi sebagaimana mestinya. Hasil penelitian ini membuktikan bahwa SPK berbasis SAW efektif dalam meningkatkan objektivitas penilaian dan mengurangi kesalahan perhitungan.
