The presence of this fish is could help the economy of people surrounding, but activities of catching uncontroled is one of the cause of decreasing of fish population. This Study has the objectives on accessing the growth and condition factor in the Aek Alian River. Research was conducted in May to Juni 2014. by using Purposive Sampling method. Stations spreaded among river with the station I (upstream), station II (midstream), and station III (estuaries). Primary data consisted of a total length and weight in individual fish of Bilih from the field. The sample number of Bilih fish were 281 individuals which consisted of 82 male and 199 female. The growth pattern (B) of Bilih fish is negative allometrict with value of B is 2.870 male and 2.868 female. The comparison of male and female is 1:2.427. Factor condition of Bilih fish shows 0.930 male and 0.942 female which means that the body of fish is bony or less fat.Keyword : Growth, Bilih fish resources, Mystacoleucus padangensis Bleeker, Aek Alian River

Abstract

ABSTRACTThis research was conducted in Belumai River, Deli Serdang District in May-June 2014. The aim this research was to measure relative abundance, diversity, evennes and dominance of fish and the relationship with physical and chemical factors of water. The method used “Purposive Random Sampling”. Fisihing gear used gill net, fishnet stocking and fish rod. Data were analyzed descriptive and multiple regression analysis. This research in 8 families, 12 genus, 14 species and 204 individual fishes. Diversity index was 1,18 – 1,91, evennes index 0,73 – 0,86 and dominance index 0,17 – 0,37. Temperature was 28 – 29,75oC, turbidity 3,25 – 14,98 NTU, depth 0,78 – 2,58, flow velocity 0,18 – 0,77 m/sec, pH 5,9 – 7,2 and DO 1,81 – 5,02 mg/l. Regression results showed strong relationship among components. It’s seen from the range of the coefficient determination (R2) 0,866 – 0,900.Keywords: River, Diversity, Fish, Belumai.

Abstract

Lead (Pb) in water was found in dissolved and suspended form. Lead toxicity to plants was relatively lower compared to other trace elements. This study aimed to determine the influence of Azolla microphylla to absorb heavy metal at different concentrations of Pb, and Pb heavy metal for growth of Azolla microphylla biomass. This study was conducted from February to March 2014 in the Laboratory of Manajemen Sumberdaya Perairan Universitas Sumatera Utara. The ability of Azolla microphylla to absorb lead was measured by calculating Bioconcentration Factor. Results indicated that the BCF values on day H7 at 1 ppm of lead is 0.2372 and at 5 ppm is 0.3295. While on the H14 at 1 ppm concentration of lead is 0.2515 and at 5 ppm is 0.3536. Total weight of Azolla microphylla without lead contamination on day H7 is 105.6 grams, while the weight of Azolla microphylla with the addition 1 ppm of lead is 102.1 grams, and at 5 ppm is only 99.6 grams. While on the H14, the total weight of Azolla microphylla biomass without the addition of lead is 153.1 grams, 149.9 grams of lead at 1 ppm concentration, and 140.8 grams of lead at 5 ppm. Then in H28 measurements, weight Azolla microphylla biomass in the control treatment reached 209.7 grams, treatment with 1 ppm of lead reached 210.3 grams weight, and reached 198.5 grams at 5 ppm. Keywords : Azolla microphylla, Lead, BCF

Abstract

Food is an important component of the water that influences growth and development of fish. This study aims to determine the food habits of Garing fish (Tor tambra), the availability of natural forage Garing fish, and the efforts of the management of Garing fish resources in Batang Gadis river. This study was conducted in July-August 2014 at Batang Gadis river, Mandailing Natal Regency, North Sumatra. Fishing gear used nets ¾ and 1 inch. Analysis of data used the index of preponderance (IP). Material food on the digestion of Garing fish consisted of 12 genus Bacillariophyceae, 10 genus Chlorophyceae, 2 genus Conjugatophyceae, 2 genus Coscinodiscophyceae, 5 genus Cyanophyceae, 1 genus Euglenophyceae, 1 genus Mesotaeniaceae, 1 genus Oligochaeta, 1 genus Plecoptera, 1 genus Rhizopoda , insects and leaf litter. Chlorophyceae was the main food, while insect was a food supplement and Bacillariophyceae, Conjugatophyceae, Coscinodiscophyceae, Cyanophyceae, Euglenophyceae, Mesotaeniaceae, Oligocaheta, Rhizopoda and leaf litter were the extra food. Garing fish it self tends to omnivores to herbivores. Keywords : River, Index of Preponderance, Cyprinidae.

Abstract

The river of Batang Gadis is the longest in Mandailing Natal and flows almost over the Mandailing Natal Regency. Starting from Pakantan Muara Sipongi, passing a couple of districts and Subdistrict in Muara Batang Gadis. This research focused on community of makrozoobentos and measurement of physical and chemical factors. The purpose of this research is to know the community of makrozoobenthos in the river of Batang Gadis, Mandailing Natal Regency, North Sumatra. This research was carried out in May-June 2014. Makrozoobentos retrieval used eckmangrabb and surber net, samples are sorted by using the method of hand sorting. The sample was identified in integrated laboratory USU. Research resulted 4 classes namely Gastropod, Chaetopoda, Insect, and Hirudinae, comprising 13 genera such as Terebia, makrozoobentos, Pila, Goniobasis Sphaerium, Pleurocera, Tryonia, Tubifex, Chironomus, Neophemera, Progompus, Glossiponia, Branchiura and Macromia. The highest density was from the genus of Tarebia with amount of 1259 ind/m2 which was found on the station 3 and the lowest was from the genus Glossiphonia respectively 3 ind/m2 found at station 1. The highest value of diversity (H') in the community makrozoobentos the highes was found in station 2 (Hʹ=1,55) and lowest in the sampling 3 station wish (Hʹ=0,626).Keywords: River of Batang Gadis, Structure Community, Makrozoobentos
