Abstract

General Background: Tourism is a key sector in regional economic development, with beach destinations in Padang contributing significantly to local income. Specific Background: Nirwana Beach, despite its natural beauty and strategic location, lags behind competitors like Air Manis and Carocok due to limited promotion, service quality, and facility development. Knowledge Gap: Previous studies on coastal tourism marketing in Indonesia rarely focus on local destinations using the 7P marketing mix framework. Aims: This study aims to analyze the implementation of the 7P marketing mix (product, price, place, promotion, people, process, physical evidence) to enhance the competitiveness of Nirwana Beach. Results: The study reveals strengths in product and pricing but identifies significant weaknesses in digital promotion, service process, human resources, and physical facilities. Novelty: Methodologically, this research applies thematic analysis with NVivo software, which is rare in coastal tourism studies, and contributes to the adaptation of service quality and destination competitiveness frameworks in local contexts. Implications: Practical recommendations include enhancing digital marketing, improving human resources through training, and integrating services digitally. Theoretically, the study broadens the application of marketing mix theories to small-scale beach destinations, supporting policy and managerial decisions in sustainable tourism development.Highlight : Analysis of the 7P strategy shows that the elements of promotion, human resources, and service processes are still the main weak points of Nirwana Beach. The destination's main strengths lie in its natural beauty and competitive pricing, but the lack of product diversification limits its appeal. Strategy recommendations emphasize the importance of digitizing promotions, HR training, and developing physical facilities to improve competitiveness. Abstract

This article explains how the ethnic Chinese of Padang maintain the continuity of the death procession in Chinese culture. This article uses a historical approach by utilizing sources in the form of Dutch period documents, organizational documents of Himpunan Tjinta Teman (HTT) and Himpunan Bersatu Teguh (HBT), newspaper news and literature studies on the death processions of ethnic Chinese in Indonesia and outside Indonesia, as well as observations and interviews with HBT and HTT funeral administrators. These sources are used to find facts related to the death processions carried out by ethnic Chinese and the existence of HBT and HTT as institutions organizing Padang Chinese funeral processions. Furthermore, the existing facts are analyzed using historical and ethnographic approaches. The findings of the article show that the ethnic Chinese of Padang still carry out and preserve the implementation of the Chinese cultural death procession in an organizational forum. In this case, the organization's function as the organizer of the death procession for Padang Chinese is the key to the survival and existence of the organization itself. Various Chinese cultures preserved and inherited in the HTT and HBT organizations, including the culture of death, are essential in forming self- and collective identity and solidarity of Chinese community groups in the city of Padang.

Abstract

The Indonesian tourism industry has experienced significant development in recent years, especially the marine tourism sector, a favorite destination for domestic and foreign tourists. This study aims to analyze the influence of tourism facilities and tourist attractions on the interest in revisiting Pasir Jambak Beach, Padang City. This research methodology uses a quantitative descriptive approach with multiple linear regression analysis of 96 secondary data samples from 2023-2024, obtained from the Padang City Tourism Office. The study showed that tourist attractions had a dominant influence with a regression coefficient of 0.658 (sig. 0.000), contributing 43.3% to the interest in revisiting. Tourism facilities had a significant effect with a coefficient of 0.542 (sig. 0.000), contributing 29.4%. Simultaneously, these two variables were able to explain the variance in the interest in revisiting by 72.4% (R² = 0.724, F = 123.567, sig. 0.000). It can be concluded that the superiority of the natural tourist attractions of Pasir Jambak Beach is the main determinant of tourist loyalty, while tourist facilities function as supporting factors for the realization of an optimal tourist experience. Implications: Tourist destination managers should prioritize the development of tourist attractions based on local uniqueness while maintaining the quality standards of supporting infrastructure.
