Abstract

The election of Qatar as the host of the 2022 World Cup is enough to seize theattentionof the international community, because this world-class event is notonly the most awaited momentum by football lovers around the world but alsohelp strengthen relations between countries. However, as if escaped from publicview, in fact there is a hidden crime behind the preparation of the event which can be categorized as a form of modern slavery. This was allegedly based on thekafala system, which is a recruitment system for migrant workers that tends to be exploitative and much to the detriment of workers' rights such as low wages orhigh working hours.Thecase was revealedonthebasisofAmnesty International's investigation as an internationalnon-governmental organization engaged inHuman Rights. Through these findings, making the Qatari government as the event facilitator who was considered negligent in fulfilling the protection of laborrights, especially migrant workers, carried out policy reforms and transformation of its labor laws. Thus, Amnesty International's advocacy in influencing the policies and attitudes of the Qatari government can be said to be successful, although not yet comprehensive. This study aims to explain how the influence of Amnesty International is related to changes in Qatar policy in response to modernslavery. To answer the problems and research objectives, this research uses the concept of advocacy, the Advocacy Coalition Framework (ACF), NGOs, and modern slavery with qualitative methods and data collection techniques through literature studies. This research shows that the advocacy carried out by Amnesty International was able to have implications for changing the attitude of the Qatari government in responding to the issue of modern slavery in its country, namely through policy changes regarding migrant workers, which in turn contributed to a number of positive impacts on the standard of living of migrant workers in Qatar.

Abstract

Technological developments have brought world civilization to a time where everything relies heavily on technology. This development greatly affects all aspects of human life. We can see this from the daily life of humans who are very dependent on the digital world and the internet. The use of the digital world can be seen in vital aspects such as the world of banking, transactions, even in the creative industry. The use of NFT as a way for creative industry activists is a new way to gain and appreciate the work they produce. Aspects that are affected, not only make it easier for humans to do work, but the development of this technology is also used as a gap by criminals to commit crimes. Money laundering crimes and terrorism financing are no longer carried out conventionally, but have penetrated into the digital world. This study aims to find loopholes in the use of NFT as a medium in committing money laundering and terrorism financing crimes, and why it can become a national threat if there is no securitization of the issue. This study uses constructivism theory with the concept of securitization. This study also found that the anonymity feature in NFT transactions can make it easier for criminals to commit money laundering and terrorism financing crimes that can threaten the national security of a country.

Hollywood has become the mainstream of globalization and the standard for cinema in various parts of the world. Not infrequently, Hollywood films can also convey messages about human life problems, including in terms of human rights. On the basis of fighting for and spreading human rights values, many films in the Hollywood film industry have started to act as a medium to spread human rights values into their film productions. Thus, this paper aims to answer and further examine how the roles of Hollywood films they give to the delivery of messages of universal human rights values. The scope of this research will focus on the value of human rights, films in the politics of international relations, as well as Hollywood films that have story content that adheres to human rights values and messages. The author will collect data using the literature study method with data sources referring to films, journals, books, websites, and international news. Abstract

Rapid economic growth in the People’s Republic of China is caused by many factors. One of the factors is the high number of products exports in which the products come from imported waste raw materials. Unfortunately, the high number of waste raw materials used in the products-processing activities have caused ecological problems in China. These environmental problems have also caused consequential threats to the livelihood of Chinese citizens. This prompted the Chinese Government to ensure its intention to overcome the ecological problems that occurred in China by imposing National Sword Policy. Using the concept of human security, this research aims to explain the factors behind the Chinese Government’s decision to impose the National Sword Policy. This research also tries to explain how the concept of human security plays a significant role in influencing the Chinese Government’s decision to create National Sword Policy. At the end of this research, the author conveys the result of the research that reveals that the National Sword Policy, created by the Chinese Government, is mainly influenced by the concept of human security and the Chinese Government’s idea of peaceful development.

Abstract

Empowerment of women and gender equality is still major concern. This issue is still difficult to overcome due to the lack of public awareness about the importance of this issue in Indonesia. Seeing this, Australia, which has a higher awareness of women, invites cooperation with Indonesia through the MAMPU (Maju Perempuan for Poverty Reduction) Program. The collaboration aims to provide women with access to essential services and proper rights. By using liberal feminist theory and the concept of bilateral cooperation, this study has the main argument that the running of the capable program (2012-2020) has been running according to these theories and concepts. The findings of this study are that MAMPU Program has fulfilled liberal feminist theory by making women psychologically aware that they have rights and opportunities which also resulted in several legal changes in Indonesia regarding women, with this Indonesia-Australia cooperation has also run according to the concept of cooperation. bilateral because the response from both countries to the MAMPU Program was very good.

Abstract

Indonesia is a country that does not hesitate to accept and provide treatment for refugees and asylum seekers who come from various countries, including the very large number of migrants from Afghanistan. This policy was implemented by the Indonesian government even though Indonesia has no legal obligation, still has domestic problems, and the assistance provided by IOM to deal with refugees is getting smaller. Through this research, the author will analyze the background of the Indonesian government's policy to receive and provide treatment for refugees and asylum seekers from Afghanistan. In analyzing this issue, the author will use the perspective of cosmopolitanism with data analysis techniques using the congruent method. The results show that Indonesia accepts and provides treatment for refugees and asylum seekers from Afghanistan because Indonesia wants to fight for the rights of all migrants from Afghanistan because all human beings are part of one humanitarian community regardless of their affiliation.
