Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to (1) describe the written mathematical communication skills of fourth grade students in solving flat story problems, (2) describe the factors that influence the written mathematical communication skills of fourth grade students in solving flat story problems. This research is a descriptive qualitative research. The subjects in this study were fourth grade students at SD Negeri Tegalsari. Data collection techniques use the results of test questions and interview results. Data validity testing technique uses time, technique, and source triangulation techniques. The data analysis technique uses Miles and Huberman. The results showed that students' written mathematical communication skills in the ability to write problems in their own language were 50%, the ability to express everyday events with mathematical symbols was 80%, the ability to express everyday problems in the form of pictures was 40%, the ability to understand and evaluate mathematical ideas in solving problems in writing 40%, and the ability to write a conclusion according to the problem 0%. Factors that influence written mathematical communication skills are students' knowledge of the concept of flat shapes, students' confidence in the answers given, understanding of the questions, and the intensity of giving story questions by the teacher

Abstract

Speaking skills are skills that every individual must have. As with other skills, speaking skills need to be honed so that people can master them well. After online learning in 1st grade to 3rd grade, students are less competent in speaking. Therefore, action needs to be taken to improve students' speaking skills. There are several ways to improve speaking skills, one of which is by implementing the active debate learning model. The active debate learning model is an active learning model that involves two camps as a pro team and a con team. Learning with this model requires students to speak to convey their arguments. Research was conducted on the utilization of the active debate learning model, with the objective of enhancing students' speaking proficiency. This study was part of Classroom Action Research, employing the performance method. As the debate learning model begins, there are seven aspects of assessing students' speaking skills, they are: 1) courage to appear, 2) diction, 3) intonation, 4) volume, 5) articulation, 6) speaking fluency, and 7) understanding of the material. The results of research using the active debate learning model were that students' skills increased from 64.3% in cycle I to 82.14% in cycle II. Therefore, it can be inferred that implementing the active debate model has the potential to enhance students' oral communication abilities.

Abstract

This study aims to (1) describe the form of error in the conclusion of the mathematical story of scale matter experienced by students based on Newman's theory, (2) describe factors causing the occurrence of error. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study research design. Subjects in this study were fifth grade students at Tegalsari elementary school. Data collection techniques using written test results and interviews. Data validity testing techniques using triangulation techniques and sources. Data analysis techniques using Miles and Huberman analysis, consist of (1) data collection, (2) data reduction, (3) data presentation, and (4) conclusion drawings. Most mistakes were found in the writing of the conclusion with a presentation of 31.5%. Then the error of understanding was found at 30.5%, error of process skills at 20%, and error of reading at 10.5%. While the transformation error was the least mistake experienced by the students with the presentation of 7.4%. The factors that cause the mistakes are the understanding of the student related to the material, the understanding the student of the story and the severity of the learner in solve the story, and the training of the teacher about the story.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is knowing the differences between (1) Mind Mapping learning model and Think Pair Share learning model toward student creative thinking skill, (2) reading interest effect of high and low groups towards students creative thinking skills, and (3) interaction effect of learning models and reading interest towards student creative thinking skill. The population was fourth grade’s students at elementary school in Puncu Region. The samples had chosen through Cluster Random Sampling and there are two schools that researcher had chosen, they are SD N Gadungan 2 and SD N Gadungan 5. This research used experimental method and the data were analyzed with Two Way Anova Test using SPSS 16.0 programme. The data were taken from the result of creative thinking skill esay tests and student’s reading interest questionnaire. The result showed that, first there was differences between Mind Mapping and Think Pair Share learning model towards students creative thinking skill (Sig. = 0,00 < α = 0,05). Second, there was differences between high reading interest and low reading interest towards students creative thinking skill (Sig. = 0,00 < α = 0,05). Third, there was no interaction between learning model and reading interest towards students creative thinking skill (Sig. = 0,935 > α = 0,05).
