Abstract

Stunting is a state of the nutritional status of a person based on the z-score height of age which lies in z-score <-2 SD. Stunting is a state of undernutrition that continues over time and happens in the long term. Prevalence of stunting in Subulussalam among children under 5 years old was is 64,91% which 48% occured in Simpang Kiri sub-district. This study was aimed to analyze whether micronutrient intake and exclusive breastfeeding were risk factors for stunting. The design was case-control unmatched, the subjects were children between 12-36 months with 53 stunted and 55 normal. The variables were the frequency of intake mineral source (Ca, Fe, and Zn), the frequency of intake vitamin A source, and exclusive breastfeeding. Data were analyzed using chi-square test and odds ratio. The results showed that frequency of intake Ca source (OR=4,11, 95%CI:1,83-9,25), frequency of intake Fe source (OR=4,31, 95%CI:1,70-10,9), frequency of intake Zn source (OR=7,46, 95%CI: 1,58-35,2), frequency of intake vitamin A source (OR=2,51, 95%CI: 1,15-5,49) and exclusive breastfeeding (OR=5,38, 95%CI:2,28-12,7) were the risk factor against stunting. Intake of micronutrients (calcium, Fe, zinc, and Vitamin A) and exclusive were a risk factors for stunting

In response to global warming Indonesia goverment is committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions 26% by its own effort and 41% if it receives international assistance in 2020. One of the industrial sectors that contributes to greenhouse gas emissions in Indonesia is the Palm Oil Mill (POM) . To find out the total of CO2 emissions produced uses method by Intergovermental Panel on Cilmate Change (IPCC). Total emissions from POM PT. Background : Aceh is one of the province in Indonesia with high prevalence of stunting that is 39% compared withnational 35,6%. Subulussalam has a highly proportion of stunting. Objective : This study was aimed to analyze the risk factors for stunting among children between 6-24 months old. Methods : The design was case-control study, the subjects were children between 6-24 months with 55 stunted and 55normal. The subjects chosen by consecutive sampling. The risk factors were education levels and employment of parent, family income, suffering from diarrhea and URTI, energy and protein intake, height of the parent, birth weight, exclusive breastfeeding, the time of complementary feeding, parenting style and source of clean water. Data analysisusing the odds ratio with 95% confidence interval and regression analysis. Results : The risk factors for stunting were low income of family (OR=8,5, 95%CI: 2,68-26,89), suffering from diarrhea(OR=5,04, 95%CI: 1,84-13,81) and URTI (OR=5,71, 95%CI: 1,95-16,67), inadequate of energy (OR=3,09, 95%CI:1,02-9,39) and protein intake (OR=5,54, 95%CI: 2,43-12,63), short stature of the parent (OR=11,13, 95%CI: 4,37-28,3), low birth weight (OR=3,26, 95%CI: 1,46-7,31), not exclusively breastfeeding (OR=6,54, 95%CI: 2,84-15,06),giving complementary feeding too early (OR=6,54, 95%CI: 2,84-15,06), and poor parenting style of feeding practices(OR=4,59, 95%CI: 2,05-10,25), child hygiene practices (OR=3,26, 95%CI: 1,46-7,31) and treatment of childrenpractices (OR=2,46, 95%CI: 1,13-5,34). Regression analysis showed that the dominant risk factor for stunting wasshort stature of the parent (OR=13,16, 95%CI: 3,72-46,52).Conclusions : The dominant risk factor for stunting was short stature of the parent.

Abstract

Background: Noodle is one of the popular food products in the community. Purple sweet potato contains large amounts of anthocyanin pigment. Seeing the prospect of great benefits and easily obtained, sweet potatoes can be optimized for use as a source of natural dyes. Objectives: The purpose of this study was to determine the nutrient content of wet noodles and the level of preference for noodles from mocaf flour with natural sweet potato dyes. Material and Method: This type of research is an experiment with a completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 2 repetitions to produce 8 experimental designs. Results: The hedonic test results obtained the best formula is F1 with a value of 3.67 categories very like while the hedonic quality test obtained the best formula is F1 with a value of 3.68 categories of purplish, slightly aromatic colour, slightly savoury taste and somewhat chewy texture. The nutritional content of wet noodles are 69.02% water content, 3.67% ash content, 1.03% fat content, 9.77% protein content, 0.34% calcium content and 1.493% phosphorus content. Conclusion: The most preferred wet noodle based on hedonic test and hedonic quality is F1 formula. This wet noodle only has a little nutritional content, further research is needed in order to get the best-wet noodle formulation and has a good nutritional content so that it can be produced as an alternative to wet noodle variations.

Abstract

Background: One group of school-age children has nutritional problems. The problem of excess nutrients can affect body function, while a nutrient deficiency can cause impaired body growth and maturity of the reproductive organ system. Also, daily nutritional deficiencies can cause a lack of concentration in learning. Purpose: To determine the effect of food consumption patterns on nutritional status. Method: The research design used was observational with a cross-sectional study approach. This research was conducted at SMP Negeri 3 Satu Atap Batu Bujur, West Bilah Subdistrict, Labuhan Batu Regency, North Sumatra Province with a research sample of 78 students consisting of class VII and VIII aged 13-15 years. The sampling technique in this research is using the total sampling method. Data analysis was performed univariate and bivariate using the Chi-Square test. Results: dietary variation was associated with nutritional status with a p-value (0.010). Snack food was related to nutritional status with a p-value (0.45). Physical activity is related to nutritional status with a p-value (0.030). Conclusion: There is a correlation between dietary variation, snack food, and physical activity with nutritional status among students. It is recommended that students keep their food consumption and physical activity in accordance with nutritional needs. Keywords: Food Variation, Snack Food, Physical Activity, Nutritional Status.

Abstract

Hypertension is a global health issue that contributes to increased morbidity and mortality from cardiovascular diseases. The pre-elderly population requires special attention as they undergo a transitional phase toward old age, during which physiological changes increase the risk of hypertension. This study aims to identify risk factors for hypertension among pre-elderly individuals in the working area of UPTD Puskesmas Lolomatua, South Nias Regency. The study employs an analytical observational method with a case-control design, analyzing data using the Chi-Square test, Odds Ratio (OR), and 95% Confidence Intervals (CI). The study sample consists of 86 pre-elderly respondents, including 43 cases (hypertension) and 43 controls (non-hypertension). The results indicate a significant association between sodium intake and hypertension (p = 0.005; OR = 3.894), sleep quality (p = 0.000; OR = 4.350), and physical activity (p = 0.001; OR = 4.350). However, smoking habits were not associated with hypertension (p = 0.514; OR = 9.431). Pre-elderly individuals with excessive sodium intake, poor sleep quality, and low physical activity have a fourfold increased risk of developing hypertension. In contrast, smoking habits did not show a significant risk for hypertension. Therefore, regular health check-ups are recommended for pre-elderly individuals to maintain stable blood pressure.
