Abstract

Abhi Salted Eggs UMKM, located in Jombang Regency, produces salted eggs with a daily capacity of 850–1000 eggs from 1200 ducks. The production process, especially egg washing, faces significant challenges because it is still done manually. Problems that arise include long washing times, worker complaints due to exposure to soapy water, and egg damage rates reaching 7.14%–9.54%, causing losses of up to IDR 5,487,000 per month. To overcome these problems, an automatic egg washing tool was designed that can wash up to 20 eggs per cycle. Test results show that this tool is able to reduce the level of egg damage to 1% from 600 eggs tested, while increasing production capacity in the washing process. This innovation contributes to efficiency, reduced losses, and increased product hygiene, supporting the sustainability of Abhi Salted Eggs UMKM. Keywords: Egg Washer, QFD, Salted Eggs

Abstract

The increasing domestic demand for coal necessitates greater efficiency in logistics systems and supply chains, particularly for mining companies such as PT. Mahakam. This study aims to design a queue system simulation model to optimize the company’s logistics performance by applying queueing theory and utilizing the ARENA simulation software. The research evaluates key variables such as waiting time, queue length, and the utilization rate of unloading facilities, in an effort to address demurrage issues arising from logistical inefficiencies. A mixed-method approach combining quantitative and qualitative data analysis was employed, using both primary and secondary data collected from PT. Mahakam’s logistics operations between January and June 2024. Simulation results indicate that logistics effectiveness can be improved through adjustments in the number of operators, enhancement of unloading equipment, and more structured management of the distribution flow. This research is expected to serve as a foundation for developing simulation-based logistics models in the coal industry and to contribute to the practical application of queueing theory in industrial settings.

Abstract

This study aims to design an ergonomic and efficient cassava slicing machine for workers at Pak Ipul's MSME. The research process began with the collection of anthropometric data from four workers involved in cassava cutting. Measurements were taken directly to obtain body dimension data that would be used in designing a cassava slicing machine that better suits human needs. Additionally, the collected data was analyzed to determine percentiles and data consistency, which served as the foundation for designing an innovative machine. The research findings indicate that a cassava slicing machine designed based on anthropometric data can enhance comfort and work efficiency while reducing the risk of injury. This study also emphasizes the importance of using anthropometric data in the design of production tools to create a safer and more productive work environment, particularly in the SME sector.

Abstract

PT. XYZ is a company engaged in the printing and packaging industry, located in East Java. PT. XYZ implements a Make to Order (MTO) production system, where the production process is carried out based on customer orders. The products produced in this study include Product A, B, C up to Product I, with various sizes and types of paper according to customer requirements. This research was conducted to address the problem of high material handling costs caused by inefficient material movement distances in the production area. Therefore, a facility layout redesign (relayout) was carried out to minimize material movement distances and reduce material handling costs. The research methods involved collecting primary and secondary data, analyzing the initial layout, designing two alternative layout proposals, and conducting simulations using FlexSim software. The results showed that Layout Proposal 2 provided the best efficiency, with a reduction in total material handling costs from Rp114,491,573 to Rp84,473,414 and a decrease in total material movement distance from 2,142 meters to 1,657 meters. This relayout proved that proper facility arrangement can improve production efficiency and reduce operational costs.

Abstract

CV. Cipta Karya is a company engaged in the manufacturing industry sector of woodworking, furniture, sawmil, kilndry, warehouse rental, wood storage and log yard. CV. Cipta Karya implements the Make to Order system. One of the crucial challenges that arise in the production process of solid wood decking and doors is inefficiency in the arrangement of production facilities, high material handling costs, and material accumulation in the production area. This research aims to redesign the layout of production facilities by prioritizing improving the efficiency of the manufacturing process. The design is carried out through an approach of optimizing the distance between workstations and analyzing the material handling system, in order to smooth the production flow, reduce moving time, and minimize resource wastage. The research approach used includes evaluating the current layout of production facilities through the use of From-To Chart (FTC) to study and map the intensity and direction of material movement between workstations, so that inefficient flow patterns that have the potential to hinder the smooth production process can be identified, then the calculation of material handling costs (OMH), as well as analysis of the activity relationship between production facilities. Furthermore, a more optimal proposed layout was designed, which was then tested using the flexim 2025 simulation to evaluate the impact of production system efficiency. The findings of this study indicate that the proposed new layout design is able to significantly reduce the total distance of material transfer between workstations. These changes also have an impact on reducing material handling costs and increasing efficiency in the overall production process. In addition, the implementation of a more organized layout also makes a real contribution to cutting production cycle time and has positive implications for improving the overall productivity of the company.

Abstract

Sumber kepuh Village in Tanjunganom Sub-district, Nganjuk District, covers 763 hectares with 78% of it being paddy fields, making it the largest rice producer in the sub-district. However, farmers are still struggling to increase harvest profits. Analysis using SmartPLS showed that the dominance of elderly farmers as well as environmental factors such as fertilizer type, soil pH, and seed quality had a significant effect on yield. A dynamic systems approach through STELLA resulted in three profit improvement scenarios. The first scenario uses superior seeds and a young planting system, increasing profits from IDR 27,487,047,641 to IDR 31,983,065,202 (up 16%). The second scenario, using semi-organic fertilizers, increased profits to IDR 39,072,970,965 (up 42%). The third scenario, a combination of both, yielded IDR 40,568,583,572 (a 48% increase). The third scenario is considered the most optimal in improving farmers' welfare and encouraging the regeneration of young farmers to maintain long-term food security in Sumberkepuh Village.
