Abstract

In Indonesia, plastic waste is the main source of the build up of garbage in landfill sites. It is also kinds of garbage that pollutes the environment because it is difficult to decompose in natural process. The problems occur in the society now is that they are unable to manage their waste effectively. If the problem is not managed properly, it will bring negative effects for the environment. This community services activity was held in Cot Seumeureng Village, West Aceh. The aim of this community service activity is to increase the society awareness on the importance of protecting and taking care of the environment in order to be clean and healthy and free of plastic waste. The methods used in this activity are the ecobrick management training and recycle it to be household appliances. The result of this activity is the increasing awareness of the society in managing the waste and recycle it using ecobrick and also to support the economy of the society in the area. Therefore, it can be concluded that plastic waste can help the community’s income by the use of plastic waste to be ecobricks and protect the environment from plastic waste.

Abstract

Coastal communities in Indonesia especially West Aceh face a growing challenge from marine plastic pollution from Fishery Port. This study addresses this issue by examining the understanding of local fisheries stakeholders at two key ports in the region. This study aims to assess the level of understanding among fisheries stakeholders regarding plastic pollution at the Ujong Baroh Fish Landing Port (PPI) in Johan Pahlawan Subdistrict and the fish market located at Ujong Karang Public Port in Meulaboh City. A quantitative descriptive survey approach was employed, with data collected through structured questionnaires administered to 40 respondents comprising fishermen, marine supply providers, and fish traders. The instrument utilized a 5-point Likert scale to measure respondents’ perceptions. Data were analyzed descriptively using frequency distribution and percentage calculations. Findings reveal that the majority of fisheries stakeholders demonstrate a moderate level of understanding, with 57% acknowledging the adverse impacts of plastic waste on marine ecosystems and the surrounding environment. These results suggest an urgent need for enhanced environmental education and outreach initiatives led by port authorities to improve awareness and promote sustainable practices among local fisheries communities.

Abstract

Pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kapasitas usaha perikanan tangkap pada UD. Camar Laut Meulaboh melalui pendampingan pola pemasaran digital dan manajemen produk. Pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini difokuskan pada unit usaha UD. Camar Laut, yang dilaksanakan pada tanggal 27 Agustus sampai dengan 31 Agustus 2025. Permasalahan utama mitra adalah pemasaran yang belum optimalnya penggunaan media digital, serta manajemen produk yang belum standar. Metode pelaksanaan meliputi identifikasi masalah, arahan penggunaan media sosial berupa digital marketing, pendampingan branding produk, dan manajemen usaha sederhana. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa wilayah pemasaran ikan oleh UD. Camar Laut mencakup beberapa Kabupaten di Provinsi Aceh dan Sumatra Utara melalui pendampingan ini diharapkan adanya penerapan dan peningkatan pemahaman mitra dalam penggunaan media sosial untuk pemasaran dan terbentuknya brand produk, serta pencatatan manajemen usaha yang lebih baik, yang saat ini masih dalam bentuk manual diarahkan penggunaan laptop. Dengan demikian, pendampingan ini memberikan kontribusi nyata dalam memperkuat daya saing usaha perikanan tangkap di era digital. Selain itu, diharapkan akan memberikan nilai tambah dalam memperoleh profit dalam perjalanan usaha terhadap pemasaran produk perikanan tangkap yang semakin kompetitif.
