Abstract

This article investigates how Indonesian ulama construct charismatic authority on social media, examining how Weberian charisma is signaled, routinized, and scaled in digital environments. The study employs a multiple case study design, analyzing five prominent Indonesian ulama through qualitative content and platform analysis. Data from Instagram, YouTube, and X/Twitter reveal digital charisma as a carefully curated performance, signaled through strategic blending of traditional piety with modern relatability. The research demonstrates how charisma becomes routinized through consistent, platform-specific content that fosters perceived intimacy with followers, while algorithmic amplification enables unprecedented scaling beyond traditional geographical and institutional boundaries. Platform algorithms play a crucial role in both routinizing charisma through content distribution patterns and scaling it through automated recommendation systems. The study's theoretical contribution lies in synthesizing Weber's sociology of charisma with deep mediatization theory within Indonesia's distinctive pluralistic Islamic context. These findings carry significant practical implications, particularly the urgent need to integrate critical digital literacy into Islamic leadership education curricula. Understanding platform mechanics becomes essential for navigating the new religious authority landscape, while the findings also raise important questions about platform governance and algorithmic amplification of religious content in diverse societies.

Abstract

This research presents a novel and holistic approach to addressing child marriage by explicitly integrating the Maqasid Al-Shariah framework—comprising the protection of religion, life, intellect, lineage, and property—as its primary analytical lens. Unlike previous studies that often treat the social, health, legal, or religious aspects of child marriage in isolation, this study unifies these dimensions within an Islamic ethical paradigm. This study employs a qualitative literature review method, systematically collecting, evaluating, and synthesizing secondary data from Islamic jurisprudence, legal frameworks, and child welfare reports to analyze child protection and adolescent well-being through the lens of Maqasid Al-Shariah. The findings of this research reveal that integrating the Maqasid Al-Shariah framework into strategies for addressing child marriage significantly enhances both the religious legitimacy and community acceptance of child protection efforts. Child marriage is a complex issue that fundamentally contradicts the five core objectives of Maqasid Al-Shariah—protection of life, intellect, lineage, property, and religion—making its elimination a religious as well as social imperative. This research highlights that child marriage endangers children's physical and mental health, disrupts education, and undermines family and community wellbeing. Addressing the issue requires more than legal reforms; it demands collaboration among policymakers, religious scholars, and community leaders to correct misinterpretations of Islamic teachings and shift cultural norms

The data analysis process with data collection, data reduction and conclusions. This study explains that the siblinghood of hope is formed from several types of relationships, namely: traditional full sibling individuals who have the same biological parents, half sibling individuals who have one parent in common, step sibling individuals who do not have the same biological parents but have a relationship resulting from marriage between parents, adoptive sibling individuals who are legally adopted by a family, and fictive sibling individuals who have been related siblings. The brotherhood of hope according to M. Quraish Shihab is a brotherhood that is not limited to relationships between believers but across religions and social groups. According to Buya Hamka, the relationship is based on ideological similarities and one descent.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the educational social intervention in resolving waqf conflicts among conflicting parties in Kotagede, Yogyakarta. The research employs a qualitative approach with a phenomenological design to explore the lived experiences and perceptions of the involved stakeholders. The data consist of primary information obtained through in-depth interviews, field observations, and documentation of legal and administrative records, while secondary data are derived from waqf-related legal literature and institutional archives. Data were analyzed using a phenomenological reduction process, which includes epoché, horizontalization, and thematic synthesis to interpret the essence of the conflict and its resolution. The findings reveal that social-educational interventions, particularly mediation and community deliberation facilitated by religious and local leaders, play a crucial role in achieving peace and maintaining waqf sustainability. The study concludes that successful conflict resolution requires not only legal mechanisms but also educational and participatory approaches that strengthen legal awareness, empower nadzir, and enhance community trust in waqf institutions.
