Abstract

AbstractAs one of government-owned banks; local-government-owned commercial banks in Indonesia have unique and critical roles to support local government to develop stronger local economic conditions. Moreover, study about influencer factors of local-government-owned commercial banks’ performance become important and urgently needed, since only few studies about this previously. Meanwhile, commercial bank’s performance is influenced by internal influencers and external influencers. Therefore, this study focuses on bank’s soundness as internal factor influencer; and selected macroeconomics indicators as external factors influencer toward bank’s performance. The result of this study shows even though CAR; CIR; NIM of all 19 local-government-owned commercial banks in Indonesia have reached first rank of the banks’ soundness measurement; however, only 1 bank has reached first rank in LDR; and only 2 banks have reached first rank in NPL. Therefore, this study shows that local-government-owned commercial banks in Indonesia have serious problem in liquidity and asset quality. On the other hand, this study proves that local GDP growth rate and local GINI ratio - as external influencer – have no significant influencing toward banks’ performance. Finally, this study concludes those local-government-owned commercial banks’ performances - that represented by ROAA and ROAE - have been influenced by banks’ soundness significantly; and there are no significant influencers from external factors. Thus, this study suggests the local-government-owned commercial banks to focus to increase and maintain their banks’ soundness in order to increase their performance. Keywords: CAMEL; Banks’ Soundness; Macroeconomics; Banks’ Performance; Commercial Banks

Abstract

The application of industrial symbiosis approach requires collaboration and synergy among the perpetrators. At IKM automotive components collaboration and synergy has occurred in order to meet the production process as the supply chain. Therefore the aim of this study was to analyze and implement synergies between SME development efforts in the automotive components KIJ and its surroundings; to analyze the management of waste, energy consumption, water consumption and by-products among SMEs in the automotive component and surrounding KIJ; and analyze the formation of industrial symbiosis in SME automotive components KIJ and surrounding areas. The sampling method is done deliberately by 30 IKM automotive parts and used questionnaires to obtain data. Data were analyzed using multiple regression analysis to obtain the effect of the independent variable (energy consumption, water consumption, waste and byproducts) to the dependent variable (sustainability). Data analysis showed that cooperation between SMEs of automotive components has occurred but is still limited to business cooperation has not been on the cooperation of environmental management. Variable waste management and water consumption significantly affect sustainability, because both activities shown by these two variables have been implemented by the SME automotive components. Variable energy consumption and by-products did not significantly affect the sustainability, because the energy consumption activities and byproducts in the automotive component SMEs have not been implemented. Industrial symbiosis approach as an approach to environmental management can be carried out among SMEs of automotive components, but still a lot of support is needed.

Abstract

The effect of food waste and food loss is more severe than other recent environmental issues such as plastic usage. Every year, Indonesia needs a 19 million kilos food supply, yet 1.3 billion tons per year being wasted and lost, which affects the value of food and production itself and hazardous to the environment. It is estimated yearly, food waste producing 3.3 billion tons of CO2 and wasted 1.4 billion hectares of ripe land for vain. Globally, many individuals, organizations, and governments in several countries campaign to raise awareness to face this problem, including Indonesia. With the government's help, many organizations encounter this environmental issue by online media approach, physical campaign, encouraging households to reduce food loss by giving knowledge, and many more. They are reflecting other countries also become one of the ideas that can be implemented by society.

Abstract

The construction industry by concentrating the industry in one place, which is called as an industrial area, is intended to suppress the spread of the environmental impact of the industry. Another goal is that the existence of the industry in the same place will double impact on society. Bu tthese objectives must be followed by the fulfillment of strict criteria. Such criteria starting from the allotment of land for the establishment of industrial zones, to the obligations of waste management or environmental impact. Industrial estate development policy must pay attention to the environmental aspects thus awakened environmentally sound industrial area.

Abstract

Transportation is a sector that has a dependency on fossil fuel production and will produce carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions. Carbon Dioxide (CO2) is a pollutant produced by vehicles which causes air pollution. The increase in vehicle demand causes an increase in CO2 emissions, which is the cause of global warming. But vehicles with fossil fuels are still a necessity for community mobilization. Because most vehicles used today are fossil fuel vehicles, the measurement of the efficiency of fossil fuel use is very important. The measure used to see the efficiency of fuel use by vehicles is Vehicle Kilometer Traveled (VKT). By using mobilev software, carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from fossil fuel vehicles can be predicted. CO2 emissions that occur in an industrial area are caused by several types of motor vehicles, namely motorcycles, LDV and HDV cars. From the analysis of the correlation between CO2 emissions with each type of vehicle obtained that the motor and LDV have a strong correlation with CO2 emissions, but the correlation with HDV is weak. This shows that CO2 emissions from each vehicle will contribute to CO2 emissions, the number of motorcycles correlates very closely with CO2 emissions (r = 0.9), the number of LDV correlates closely with CO2 emissions (r = 0.7) and the number of HDV correlates weakly with CO2 emissions (r = 0.1).

Abstract

In recent years, because of the changes in the environment and an increase in the global population, there is an increase in the threat of water scarcity. Therefore, there a need for developing water supply systems that is sustainable and resilient. Rainwater harvesting (RWH) systems are a decentralized sustainable water supply system that has the potential to be implemented. Industries, as one of the sectors that will be affected, could potentially gain many benefits through the implementation of RWH systems. This paper is a literature review that has the objective of explaining the general concept of RWH systems and understanding several aspects that go into planning a rainwater harvesting system. RWH system is an old concept that has benefits and disadvantages. In planning an RWH system, there are many considerations and calculations. The catchment area, water storage, treatment train needs to be carefully chosen. In some cases of implementation, it has been observed that RWH systems have resulted in water and financial savings. There is much potential for further study of the implementation of RWH systems in industrial settings.
